GENERATORS & MOTORS

Araldite and Aradur casting and impregnation systems can be

used in all insulation components of motors and generators thanks

to their high mechanical strength, the strong adhesion to various

metals and substrates and their excellent dielectric properties. The

low resin viscosity ensures homogenous impregnation.

The materials have very high temperature resistance and withstand

extreme thermal cycling in service. The trend to an increased poweroutput, higher integration density and decreased size for generators

and motors requires thermal management. Our heat conductive

products are the ideal solution to dissipate the heat.

INSULATORS & BUSHINGS

The main requirement for insulators is to obtain high cantilever

strength whereas for bushings, the main required properties are:

void free castings, low partial discharge level of castings and gas

tight castings when in use with SF6 gas.

For outdoor applications especially good and proven weathering

resistance is required. Araldite cycloaliphatic outdoor systems are

backed by 40 years of service experience. Araldite systems

reduce leakage currents and therefore further improve reliability and

extend life expectancy of insulators.

INSTRUMENT TRANSFORMERS

A general requirement for casting systems for instrument

transformers is high crack resistance. Therefore the glass transition

temperature (Tg) of the cured system has to be properly chosen: as

low as possible and only as high as necessary.

SWITCHGEARS

General requirements for casting systems for switchgear parts are:

- medium to high glass transition temperature

- Tg adjusted to service temperature (e.g. service temperature

105 C requires Tg>115 C)

- high resistance to mechanical creeping because of gas

pressure in GIS parts

In order to increase productivity, Araldite NPC systems have been

developed, which do not require post cure anymore.

DRY TYPE DISTRIBUTION TRANSFORMERS

The dry-type distribution transformer application is one of the

fields where Araldite systems have gained their long

successful experience. Araldite product range fulfils the

very demanding requirements on insulation systems.

General requirements for cast resin transformers are high crack

resistance, slow curing process to avoid internal stresses and

the high thermal class.

ELECTRO COMPOSITES

Electro Composites are semi-finished products for usage in

electrical engineering such as press-boards, flexible and rigid

sheets, pre-pregs, rods, tubes and tapes. They are manufactured

with matrix resins reinforced by fibres, filaments and fabrics.

Araldite matrix systems provide low viscosity to ensure good

impregnation combined with excellent mechanical and electrical

insulation properties covering a broad Tg range.

The systems can be processed by pultrusion, filament winding and vacuum

impregnation. The range of impregnation systems is complemented

by a casting system for composite insulator housings providing apackage together with the matrix system for the rods

ADHESIVES

Araldite adhesives are high-strength materials formulated for

use in a broad range of applications. The adhesives are UL recognized

for high-temperature use and exhibit good dielectric

characteristics as well as excellent chemical and moisture

resistance.

In addition, the products are easy to handle with a

wide range of work lives and the ability to cure at room and

elevated temperatures. The durable Araldite adhesives are sag

resistant, resist shrinkage and are easy to apply from dual-barrel

cartridges or via automated mixing/dispensing equipment.
