PAS55 - short form audit

PAS 55 to become an ISO standard

EPM is continuing its commitment to the PAS 55 standard for optimal management of physical assets

with a series of workshops to promote the BSI accreditation, which was first developed in 2004 by the Institute of Asset Management. EPM Solutions aim to become a PAS 55 Endorsed Assessor in the very near future. BSI PAS 55 was revised in 2008 and is now sponsored by 50 organisations from 15 industry sectors in 10 countries. The standard was

EPM are now working with a major international petroleum and chemicals operator to assist with the development of fire fighting networks. This engineering change process includes the provision of specifications, detail drawings, tender documentation and tender analysis. The projects began in the first quarter of 2011 and are being managed by our projects team, led by Ian Hick.

The Institute of Asset Management are keen to raise the international profile and status of PAS 55. As such plans are now underway to reclassify PAS 55 to become an ISO standard.

created to define the systematic and coordinated activities and practices through which an organisation optimally and sustainably manages its physical assets, and their associated performance, risks and expenditures over their lifecycle for the purpose of achieving its organisational strategic plan. In other words, it describes the optimum way of managing assets to achieve a desired and sustainable outcome.

Workshops now availableEPM are now offering workshops for customers and suppliers on the workings and benefits of PAS 55. These workshops have been running since last year, so to find out more about forthcoming workshops in 2011 – and to book your place – contact EPM on 0141 848 6609.

The primary objective of this course is to provide an appreciation of PAS-55-1-2008 Specification for the optimised management of physical assets through formal instruction coupled with practically based examples and delegate participation. The course will suit anyone looking to understand the benefits of PAS 55 implementation such as Asset Managers or support functions in procurement, HR, Training or contractor management.

The IAM assessment methodology is an essential tool when assessing for PAS55 readiness and certification, but what if you’re not ready for that level of audit. If you aspire towards PAS55 and want a snapshot of where your business may be, EPM can provide a short form audit and roadmap report that can be completed as quickly as 2 days. This more cost effective option can be applied across industry sectors. Also it will enable you to identify improvement opportunities as well as providing a framework for a long term asset management plan.

A Piping and Instrumentation Diagram, or PID, is a schematic illustration of the functional

relationship of piping, instrumentation and system equipment components. Having these in place is good practice, and EPM is involved in creating or updating these diagrams for customers up and down the country. We can help you to design a diagram or have a look at existing diagrams to ensure they are accurate and

EPM’s reach is now truly global with projects as far afield as the South Atlantic. Detailed work includes the production of hazardous area drawings for various locations and carrying out ATEX/ DSEAR compliance audits. The audit findings go on to detail non-compliance and recommendations to meet requirements where necessary.

PID’s play a significant role in the maintenance and modification of the process that they describe. It is critical to demonstrate the physical sequence of

Following the transfer and upgrade of a CMMS, Chris Jones of Pace Fuelcare had this

to say about EPM’s service: “When we met EPM initially we thought we had found a

company that could offer us a lot of help, but thought it was too good to be true –

so much so that we were waiting to be let down. However, we were proved wrong,

and EPM has always done what we asked of them – and more. They deliver every

time. We are delighted with EPM and they will be the first point of contact when we

need support in the future”.

When it comes to recycling most of us have good intentions, but sometimes it’s not easy to

follow through. Separating drinks cans, paper, cardboard and other recyclable materials in an office environment needs to be simple, quick and effective.

As Wm Tracey are already a valued customer of EPM Solutions they were our first choice when it came to developing a waste management policy. We have worked with Wm Tracey for a number of years on asset integrity projects and engineering change management at their

We are delighted to announce that our Managing Director Gary Kerr has been busy raising funds for Parkinson’s UK along with a team of 60 people. Together they have raised more than £25,000 through exhaustive fundraising events such as half marathon running. Gary lost his Mum to Parkinson’s so this a charity close to his heart.

sites in Paisley, Dunniflats and Gateshead. So, we already had an established relationship and working so closely with them has given us a good understanding of what they do and how well they do it.

The service they provide has been great and it has taken the recycling headache away from us. Firstly, Wm Tracey advised us on how to manage our waste and then supplied recycling bins for the office.

Once the bins are full they pick up the bins and complete the recycling process on our behalf - easy really!

A project team from the University of the West of Scotland Business School have been tasked to work with EPM Solutions in producing a marketing and social media plan. This project sits within the framework for EPM’s vision under the Goal of Operational Excellence - EPM aspire to excellent and focussed marketing. The primary focus and aims of the project are to carry out a review of the company’s current marketing activities and craft a suggested marketing plan to assist in the development of the business. Key areas that the project team will look at include social media, web promotion, review of current advertising, conferences, trade fairs and target markets. The findings and recommendations are due to be presented to EPM Solutions by the end of May 2011. All being well the second half of this year should see some changes in the way EPM presents itself.
