Living our Faith
Thank you to Dr. Stephen Fahrig for his thoughtful spiritual reflection at our Lenten Evening of Recollection. Several pa-rishioners have commented on how good it was. Sign of Peace I've been noticing some parishioners who, in the midst of flu season and concerns over the coronavirus, are not comfortable with shaking hands or hugging during the sign of peace. I would not advise anyone to be afraid or overly concerned about these illnesses, but a bit of prudence is warranted, and if we can make coming to Mass a more welcom-ing experience I would like to do that. Starting this Sunday, until the news about various pandemics calms down, I won't make the invitation to exchange the sign of peace in the pews. As in previous years, feel free to exchange the sign of peace among your family. For those who are wondering, this second part of the sign of peace is optional and the Archdio-cese has encouraged the priests to omit it for now. The Easter Egg Hunt this year is Saturday, April 11 at 11am. If you would like to make any donations of candy or small toys such as sidewalk chalk, bubbles, or stickers, I would be grateful. It takes a while to put all the candy into the eggs, which is why I start making the donation request so early. Thank you!
Fr. Michael

Living our Faith
Stewardship “Everyone who drinks this water will be thirsty again.” (John 4:13)
Jesus reminds us that material things, even something as basic as water, can never satisfy us for long. When we build our lives around material possessions, we always want more. True Joy and Peace only come when we follow Jesus; when we become more “God-centered” and less “self-centered.”
Pro-Life Matters It now seems undeniable that once we cross the fundamental moral line that prevents us from treating any fellow human being as a mere object of research, there is no stopping point. The only moral stance that affirms the human dignity of all of us in reaffirming, precisely in this context of embryonic stem cell research, that “the killing of innocent human creatures, even if carried out to help others, constitutes an absolutely unaccepta-ble act” (Pope John Paul II, The Gospel of Life (Evangelium Vitae) Forty Days For Life Campaign As described on the Coalition for Life St. Louis website: “Once again, our community will be one of many cities from coast to coast joining together for the 40 Days for Life campaign. 40 Days for Life is an intensive effort designed to raise awareness, save lives, bring healing, and lead our nation to repentance for the sin of abortion through three com-ponents: •40 days of prayer and fasting •40 days of peaceful vigil •40 days of community outreach.” To learn more or adopt-a-day for your parish, school, or group, please contact the Coalition at (314) 827-4039 or [email protected], or visit online at: https://www.coalitionforlifestl.com/40-days-for-life/ Peaceful, prayerful witness takes place at Planned Parenthood on Forest Park Avenue. Call Marilyn or Gerry Unger at 645-3483 with questions or for more information. Helpers Mass & Rosary: Join us Saturday March 21 at the Cathedral Basilica on Lindell at 8 AM for the monthly Helpers Mass & Rosary. After mass we will process to Planned Parenthood to pray the Rosary to end abortions. This is a peace-ful showing of our faith to save babies. Project Rachel & Project Joseph: The services of Project Rachel and Project Joseph are available to anyone who has been wounded by an abortion experience and is seeking healing. Services include: free, confidential, professional counseling, monthly spiritual support group meetings, healing re-treats, spiritual direction, and the Sacrament of Reconciliation. Call 314-792-7565. Project Rachel Meeting: Thursday March 26th at 7:00 PM is the monthly meeting of "In His Name" a support group for any woman negatively impacted by an abortion experience. Contact Marisol 314-792-7451 [email protected] or STLprojectrachel.org. for more information about the group and location. Project Joseph Meeting: Next Meeting Monday April 6th 7:00 PM. For more information about the group or location contact Chuck 314-974-6787 [email protected] or STLprojectjoseph.org
Lenten Day Of Recollection… Parishioners, their guests, and all throughout the Archdiocese are invited to join Archbishop Robert Carl-son and the clergy of the Cathedral Basilica of St. Louis for a Lenten Day of Recollection and Reconciliation on Saturday, April 4, 2020. This special day of reflection, recollection, and reconciliation begins at 10:00 am, and includes two spir-itual conferences led by Archbishop Carlson. Each con-ference will be followed by exposition of the Blessed Sacrament and an opportunity for the Sacrament of Rec-onciliation. The afternoon conference will also be fol-lowed by Stations of the Cross. The day will end with evening vespers at 4:30 pm and the celebration of Mass at 5:00 pm. All conferences and prayer will be held in the Cathedral Basilica, with lunch provided for all in Boland Hall. This gathering is free (good will offerings to help offset the cost of lunch will be gratefully accepted). Though a free event, organizers request advance regis-tration to properly prepare for lunch. To register or for additional information, please contact Mary Ann Fox at 314-373-8208.
