Living our Faith

Divine Mercy Sunday Family Activity This Sunday, I have an activity for the kids. As a family, talk a little bit about what the Sunday means (there's a simple explanation here: https://mycatholickids.com/divine-mercy-sunday-greatest-gift/ and then pray these prayers together as a family, either at home or in the Church. Each child who completes the activity will be given a prize. I have rice crispy treats and home-made cookies to give out. This Sunday, from 10 am-12 noon, I will have a table set up in the courtyard at Church, please stop by and claim your prize! Most merciful Jesus, I turn to You in my need. You are worthy of my complete trust. You are faithful in all things. When my life is filled with confusion, give me clarity and faith. When I am tempted to despair, fill my soul with hope. Most merciful Jesus, I trust You in all things. I trust in Your perfect plan for my life. I trust You when I cannot comprehend Your divine Will. I trust You when all feels lost. Jesus, I trust You more than I trust myself. Most merciful Jesus, You are all-knowing. Nothing is beyond Your sight. You are all-loving. Nothing in my life is beyond Your concern. You are all-powerful. Nothing is beyond Your grace. Most merciful Jesus, I trust in You, I trust in You, I trust in You. May I trust You always and in all things. May I daily surrender to Your Divine Mercy. Most Blessed Virgin Mary, Mother of Mercy, Pray for us as we turn to you in our need. The Sunday Homilies are still being written and are posted on the parish website. On the right side of the page, you'll see a link to "Read Father Michael's Homilies Here." I hope you find them thought-provoking and spiritually helpful. I know that the homilies recently have been intensely honest, thank you all for the feedback and the kind notes you've sent. Public Masses in St. Louis have now been changed to Private Masses through April 30. I know that it is difficult to remain away from Church for so long, but I appreciate how respectful you all have been in not trying to secretly attend mass during this time. I am praying and hoping that this situation is resolved quickly. I have to be very blunt here and say that I am disappointed that Masses continue to be private. This is not my choice. Because there have been a few questions, at each Sunday Mass, my family has been present and I have been giving them communion. It is up to the discretion of the other people at mass if they would also like to receive. A few prefer not, a few do. As a priest, if someone asks me for communion in that context, I will not deny them. The Church is unlocked for private prayer each day around 7:30 am and will stay open until 7 pm. Parishioners are encouraged to stop in for private prayer. I am still offering Masses. If you happen to come into the Church when I am offering one, you are welcome to stay, but I cannot let anyone know when those Masses will happen because we are trying to honor the request of the government to limit gatherings to 10 or less. The Stay-at-home order from the city makes an exception for visiting Church. You are allowed by law to come pray if you would like to. The rectory office, however, is closed until the stay-at-home order is lifted. We are still hearing confessions. The schedule may be slightly different than usual, but watch our facebook page for announcements about when. A note about our offertory I know that the economy is going to have a number of our bank accounts hurting. I pray that this recession ends quickly. In the meantime, I do need to mention that Epiphany is still paying our bills, so if you would be so kind as to continue giving over the next few weeks that would be incredibly helpful for the parish finances. As always, every gift is received with gratitude. Fr. Michael

P rolife Today we celebrate Divine Mercy Sunday. God’s greatest desire is to forgive us, pouring out His infi-nite mercy upon us so that we may be healed. Women and men alike who have been involved in an abortion may feel deep grief, guilt, anxiety, depression, anniversary reactions to the date of the abortion or what would have been the baby’s due date, broken relationships and a sense of alienation from God and the

Church. If this is you, we want you to know that your Church cares. Seek the Lord’s mercy and healing through the Sacra-ment of Reconciliation. Consider confidential, compassionate help from Project Rachel, a confidential Catholic ministry offering hope and healing to women and men hurting from past abortions. Select “Find Help” from the menu on HopeAfterAbortion.org to find the diocesan ministry near you.

Remember in Your Prayers all those affected by the Coronavirus throughout the world. Compassionate and Loving Father, In the face of confu-sion and concern impart to us the calm of Your pres-ence. In you allow us to find hope and healing. Be with those who serve the sick and give them Your caring hands. Be with those who lead and give them Your spirit of wisdom. Be with those who have fallen ill and give them Your comforting heart. Wrap Your arms around our world and hold us in Your love. Allow us at this time of trial to then serve as instruments of that love to all we meet. We ask this in Your name. Amen.

Please note: in observance of the “Stay-at-Home” order for the City of St. Louis and to help prevent the spread of Covid-19, the parish business office is closed for walk-in business.
