D F ,

Peace and all Good!

Today on the Solemnity of the Epiphany, we celebrate that the child born in the darkness of night in a lowly manger is revealed as the manifesta on (the meaning of epiphany) of God. Christ is revealed in many ways: as Lord, as King, as the one in whom God is present and acts. All of these manifesta ons are “lights” that shine on Christ, revealing a deeper understanding of who he is. Tradi onally three events in the life of Christ are remembered today as manifesta ons of God’s presence and ac on through Christ: the visit of the magi, the wedding feast of Cana and the Bap sm of Jesus at the Jordon River, which we celebrate tomorrow. In each of these events, we commemorate the divinity of Christ—his true self made manifest as God made human for us!

You no ce that today there are more candles in the church. Lights have always played an important part of this Solemnity of the Epiphany. And so, may these beau ful flickering candles remind us of Christ, manifest as the Light of the World!

As we draw our Christmas Season to a close, I invite all of us to come to our parish family Epiphany party from 2:00 p.m. ll 4:00 p.m. in the St. Francis hall. Please bring some food to share with others. All the potluck food will be shared at a common table. There will be gi s for the children, the breaking of the piñata and singing of Christmas Carols. Let’s keep the spirit of Christmas alive!

As we begin this new liturgical year, our Sunday readings will be taken from the Gospel of St. Mark. Begin‐ning on Thursday, January 18th and three more Thurs‐days, I will be presen ng a “Soup and Study on the Gos‐pel of Mark”. We will share in some homemade soup at 6:00 p.m. and begin our study at 6:30 p.m. un l 8:15 p.m. Please sign up for the class a er Mass today at the Welcome Table. See you in class! Bring your Bible!

Love,

EPIPHANY BLESSING OF A HOME

All: Make the Sign of the Cross.

Head of Household: "Peace be to this house and to all who dwell here, in the name of the Lord.

All: Blessed be God forever.

Reader: In the beginning was the Word and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the be‐ginning with God. All things come to be through him, and without him nothing came to be..... And the Word be‐came flesh and dwelt among us, and we saw his glory, the glory as of the Father’s only Son, full of grace and truth. S T E W A R D S H I P T H O U G H T

Today’s Gospel reading reveals the story of the magi who come from the east to pay homage to Jesus, the newborn king. The story of the magi teaches Chris an stewards three Christmas truths: God, in the person of Jesus Christ, is present and ac ve in the world, and good stewards strive daily to follow his star. Second, each of us, no ma er our circumstances or sta on in life, has a gi to bring to the Lord. And finally, our life’s journey always leads to Christ, even when at

mes we do not know where the road is taking us.

QUERIDOS AMIGOS,
