KLSE Market Insight

Date: 16– OCT

The FBM KLCI index gained 2.11 points or 0.12% on Thursday. The Finance Index increased 0.52%

to 14660.65 points, the Properties Index dropped 0.32% to 1179.58 points and the Plantation In-

dex down 0.47% to 7461.94 points. The market traded within a range of 14.47 points between

an intra-day high of 1721.34 and a low of 1706.87 during the session.

Actively traded stocks include XOX, FRONTKN, AIRASIA, ECOFIRS, IRIS, PRIVA, FBMKLCI-HK, ID-

MENSN, GENETEC and KNM. Trading volume decreased to 2401.06 mil shares worth RM2535.46

mil as compared to Tuesday’s 2472.57 mil shares worth RM2455.76 mil.

Leading Movers were RHBCAP (+11 sen to RM6.26), KLCC (+10 sen to RM7.05), HLBANK (+18 sen

to RM14.10), IHH (+8 sen to RM6.42) and AXIATA (+7 sen to RM6.45). Lagging Movers were AS-

TRO (-4 sen to RM2.97), YTL (-2 sen to RM1.53), SIME (-11 sen to RM8.57), IOICORP (-4 sen to

RM4.32) and GENTING (-5 sen to RM7.46). Market breadth was positive with 476 gainers as com-

pared to 376 losers.

The KLCI closed higher at 1713.25 points despite overnight losses in US market due to quarterly

earnings and lower-than-expected retail sales and producer prices.
