CONTENTS
My warmest greetings to the Congregation of Environmental Engineers of V01 14-15 as you hold your very first Environmental Infrastructure Conference.
Your association is the first of term-long labor moving together as a group of individuals brought together by common passion and advocacy. Special mention must be made of Ms. Aislinn Castro who responsibly took on the task of spear head-ing this momentous occasion and Mr. Samuel Grebialde for helping her out.
It was decided that this main objective of the conference is to address a challenged posed to us by our ever-changing environment, that In the Face of Emerging Technology, we must think Green; by living green and building green. I am proud to say that the answers you have provided as a responsible to this challenge are both insightful and meaningful. But more than that, I am proud to have worked so closely with a group of indi-viduals who I know will be able to save this world we live in.
I will conclude by taking this opportunity to thank everyone in all the committees for working hard in delivering a worthwhile presentations, not only on this occasions but on sev-eral others as well. Please know that it is my great pride and joy to have worked with and mentored all of you. May you all bring the teachings you take away from this term as you all become successful in the not distant future.

Alternative natural materials
Alternative natural ma-
terials materials that are not
commonly used such as wood
and iron, made to minimize
the negative effects that our
built environment can have on the planet
while increasing the efficiency and adapt-
ability of the structures.
Or solendae eici temquam erum rem quide-strum que invella cipidit qui veligent accus del

The alternatives
Starting off with the conference proper was Mr. Mangila and his presentation alterna-tive natural materials. According to him, the mater ia l s used in cons t r uc-tion ab-sorb heat that can emit harm-ful gases to the environment. He proposed that us-ing these alternative natural materials like
papercrete and ado-be can significantly re-duce the amount of voluble substances that spread through the at-
mosphere. Thanks to these al-t e r n a t i v e r e s o u r c-es, which cost just about the same, we may able to
lessen the pressure on Mother Earth.

Mr. Reimond Batalla- Justin Layson
As the eco-conference pro-ceeds, we hear and acquire more valuable information from another presenter, Mr. Reimond Batalla. He shared to us some interesting facts about their project. It was something
about this commonly unnoticed thing called the greywater. The water that comes from wash-ing dishes, laundry, baths and etc. Before, all we thought of this thing is nothing but waste. But actually it can still be used for a lot of various purposes. Imagine that? Who would have known the water we use every
day that comes to waste can still be used for something pos-itive? Amazing right? It’s only fair to say that our technology has come very far.

“It is NOT EXPENSIVE”
“Isn’t that too much?
No!”

Eco-paint presented by Ms. Alyana Jaya Bagadiong
As Ms. Bagadiong stated, eco-paints can defi-nitely help to the solution to global warming. How do eco-paints help? How do they work? Eco-paints help cleanse the air we breathe. It cleanses the air by re-freshing it’s fragrance and removes harmful substanc-
es and chemicals in the air. Eco-paints are also cheap-er than regular paints. So, imagine if almost all homes in the Philippines are paint-ed with eco-paints, fresh fra-grance and scent are all over us, and it is also a big help for Mother Earth.
-Simon Laguardia
WHAT IS BOYSEN KNOXOUT?
While most ‘eco-friendly’ paints are focused on low VOC level to minimize their environmental impact, KNOXOUT establishes a
new paradigm for green paints –
that of an ecoACTive paint with
Air Cleaning Technology that
continuously works to reduce
pollution and improve the
environment.

IntermissionBy Miguel Angelo D. MarianoAfter Miss Aliana’s presentation on Volatile Organic Compounds, it was time to break the ice with an intermission performed by the group’s very own Niel Lajom and Mikaela Decilos. The pair strut their stuff as they performed their favoured ballroom dancing style, Cha-Cha, to the tune of” Let’s Get Loud” by Jennifer Lopez. His darkish blue long sleeves and her yellow cocktail dress left quite an impression for the audience as they flow through the rhythm and dazzle the crowd with their moves. An applause was certainly called for from their outstanding perfor-mance.

solAR PANELS
atisfied with breaking the ice, the event stirred
its way back to the conference proper. Continuing on was Mr. Rentoria’s presentation on solar panels. He gave a proposition on utilizing the energy from the sun as an alternative resource for electricity coming from light.
There many ways stated from the collection of photovoltaic energy to the hybridization of the other renewable sources of energy. In conclusion, the usage of the solar panels prove to be the most viable energy resource for mankind.
-Miguel Angelo Mariano

“I’d put my money on the sun and solar
energy. What a source of power! I hope we
don’t have to wait ‘til oil and coal run out be-
fore we tackle that.”

Green
Roofs and
GardenS
H er cheerful nature gave us a smile to our face. This is how Ms. Jessica Balucos delivered her talk to us. Her talk about green roof and green garden change our perception that day. Knowing that a lot of trees are cut down each year to use the area for construction and terrestrial areas are getting smaller and smaller. Therefore, as the future comes, our en-vironment becomes hotter and hotter. That’s why, the idea of adapting green roofs and green
gardens on high rise infrastruc-ture can be lessened in these instances.
A lot of trees are cut down each year to use the area for construction. It can never denied that terrestrial
areas are getting smaller and smaller. That’s why, we’ve come up to the idea of adapting the green roofs
and green gardens on high rise infrastructures of our company.

If you were going to think about it, a gardens in the top of the building. Yes! It is literally on gardens on the roof top of the high building. It is cool right! that a building has a garden on top on it. If large company here in the Philippines will have this project on their building. Urban city will look like green city. In Green city, we will come up with the reduction of a number of polluting air particles and compounds not only through the plants themselves, but also by deposition in the growing medium itself. Moreover, green roof systems are recognized as providing greater thermal performance and roof insulation for the buildings they are laid on. This can vary depending on the time of the year, and the amount of water held within the system. Lastly, based on what I research about green roof and garden. There is also a growing body of evidence that the visual and physical contact with natural greenery provides a range of benefits to people. These include both mental benefits and physical benefits. This are some advantages of green gardens and green roofs that I learned from Ms. Balucos talk. In fact, if we come to this project it has a better results to our mother earth. If we can people are showing contempt to our mother earth. But it is not too late to change of all the things that we made. There are many ways to come up with this project. And as the future engineers, we live green and we build green.

Green tHumbThe Clark smart green city
r. Mark Jonathan Germentil, the last presenter in the conference, talked about the Clark Smart Green City. The Clark Smart Green City is Philippines’ most modern and the first technologically-in-tegrated city. The reason for its
establishment is because it is said that it is the key option of the Philippines for saving large amount of money. Because roughly P2.4 Billion daily because of congestion.
The Clark Smart Green City will inte-grate Information and Communications Technology (ICT) with the city infra-structure for better services for its citizens. It also uses 7 key performance indicators to ensure its sustainability.
And it is disaster resilient because it is designed to adopt certain technologies for disaster mitigation.
Mr. Germentil ended his presentation about the Clark Smart Green City by showing a picture how the Clark Smart Green City looks like. He also said that last year, 2014, the BCDA began facili-tating bids for modernizing and devel-oping Clark Smart Green City. And by 2019, approximately 1300 hectares will be converted into different industrial, mixed used, and institutional zones.

THE
BSCE-V01 RUNWAY
or so we thought! out of request from our guest of honour, miss fatima foz, each and every mem-ber of every committee were made to perform a fashion show! It started off glamorously with men and ended with a bang with the ladies’ feminine appeal. Apparently, Miss Foz was the judge for the upcoming awarding for the Best Dress Male and Female. Shining with confidence, all of the participants put their best foot forward and showed-off everything they got.
As soon as the last participant gave one last pose, it was time for the awarding ceremony!
