Seal chains extend wear life 10 to 15 times longer than standard chains and 2 to 3 times than sintered bushing chains.

O-ring or QX-ring seal chains reduce the noise level by 2-3dB compared to EK standard roller chain.

Application:1. Seal chains are not recommended in applications where the following chemicals and solvents are used. Contact with the following chemicals and solvents will damage O-ring and QX-ring made of NBR.

Gasoline, Light Oil, Benzene, Toluene, Ether, Ketone, Ethyl Acetate, Phosphoric Acid, Esters Operating Oil, Organic Acid, Heavily Polluted Mineral Acid

2. Allowable operating temperature for standard O/QX-ring is -10˚C to +80˚C (14˚F to 176˚F). Special heat resistant O/QX-ring chains are also available.3. Standard sprockets can be used for seal chains. Considerations of wider chain width than standard chains should be taken in design and installation.4. Periodical lubrication maintenance extends wear life. Seal chains have a little less �exibility due to friction between plates and seal rings, but the loss of power transmission is negligible since the friction loss between pin and bushings is greater.

EK Stainless Steel Roller Chains are designed and developed to resist corrosion, where chains are exposed to chemicals, water and/or seawater, and also resist heat, where chains are exposed to heat in applications such as heat treatment equipments and drying ovens.EK Stainless Steel Roller Chain series offer 300SS, 600SS, 316SS and 400SS type to suit particular hostile corrosive environments.

All components: 304SS1. Most common corrosion resistant chain.2. Corrosion Resistance: Water, general acid, and alkali.3. Temperature Resistance: -20°C to +400°C.

Magnetic Property: Slightly magnetic due to cold rolling process of parts.

Pin Bushing and Roller: Precipitation hardened 600SS Link Plate: 304SS1. High Load Capacity: 1.5 times higher maximum allowable load than 300SS series.2. Less corrosion resistance than 300SS series for certain environmental conditions.

Magnetic Property: Magnetic

All components: 316SS1. Withstanding long-time direct contact with corrosive substances.2. Load capacity is equal to 300SS series.3. Highest heat resistance.

Magnetic Property: No Magnetic

EK plated roller chains NP and ZS series are assembled from chain components plated before assembly.This ensures that all components surfaces are fully plated, resulting in better anti-corrosion performance.ZC chains are coated after assembly. However corrosion resistance performance is superior to NP and ZS in water and salty environments.

Unless otherwise specified, these series chains are supplied with rust preventive oil. The plated chain with translucent grease having rust-preventive and a lubricant function is available if so specified. These chains are used for areas where better lubrication and rust prevention is required.The chains with translucent grease are available upon request.

Chains with heat resistant coating and poly-seal coating are available to suit particular hostile corrosive environments.

The plating of ZS and ZC chain may peel off, and therefore these chains are not recommended for applications where the chains and/or plating come in direct contact with food.

● Spring Clip Type (SPJ)SPJ type is for EK60 and smaller. The cover plate is designed for a slip fit on the pins. It is easily held in place by a spring clip, split at one end to allow installation in grooves at the end of each pin.

● Spring Clip Type (SKJ)SKJ type is designed for O-Ring / QX-Ring sealed chains. The cover plate is semi-press fit, resulting in a higher fatigue strength.

● Cotter Pin Type (SCJ, DCJ)SCJ and DCJ type is for EK80 and larger. SCJ is of the single pin type and DCJ is of the two pins type. The cover plate is either slip fit or press fit on the pins. Press fit type is recommended for heavy duty applications.

● Offset Link (OFJ, 2LO)Offset links are used for the chain having odd pitches. Single-pitch (OFJ) and two-pitch (2LO) type are available. The single-pitch type is furnished with slip fit pin unassembled. The flat on one end of the pin prevents it from turning in the plate. The two-pitch type consists of an offset link and a roller link assembled together. The pin is press fit in the offset link plates and riveted, resulting in a longer durability. Using of offset links may lower the fatigue strength.

1. Pla�ng, welding or annealing may reduce strength and cause breakage, and should not be processed.

2. Do not reuse disassembled components (pins, bushings, and link plates) for reworking, causing reduc�on of strength.

3. Never use acid, alkali or general rust-removal solvents to clean a chain. It may cause hydrogen embri�lement.

4. Never use gasoline or other flammable solvents for chain cleaning. A fire may result.

5. Damaged chain may be yielded, and therefore should not be reworked. A new chain and sprockets should be replaced.

6. When in use of hoist applica�on, take safety measures to keep out the hois�ng opera�on area.

7. When connec�ng or disconnec�ng chain, always use safety glasses for your eyes protec�on and wear protec�ve clothing, gloves, and safety shoes as appropriate.

8. Always lock out equipment power switch before installing, removing, lubrica�ng or servicing chains and sprockets.

9. Provide safeguard on all chains and sprockets installa�ons.

10. Use of appropriate tools are recommended when connec�ng and disconnec�ng chain.

11. Do not a�empt to connect or disconnect chain unless the chain construc�on is well understood.

12. Pin/rivet removal or inser�on must be done in correct direc�on.

13. Chain and sprocket selec�on should be made in accordance with our engineering selec�on guide.
