Los Angeles judge David Wesley denied a motion from the California attorney- general’s office to curtail the work of doctors Khristine Eroshevich, 62, and Sandeep Kapoor, 41. The two doctors are charged along with Smith’s longtime companion and lawyer, Howard K. Stern, with conspiracy and other counts stemming from her death from an accidental drug overdose in February 2007. The judge noted that there had been ‘‘years of investigation’’ and said it had been eight months since the doctors were charged. ‘‘I don’t see the ... urgency,’’ Wesley added, saying it would be a ‘‘very drastic step.’’ Stern, Eroshevich and Kapoor are accused of conspiring to prescribe, administer and dispense controlled substances to Smith from 2004 until her death at the age of 39 in a Florida hotel room. Eroshevich and Kapoor each face six felony counts while Stern is charged with 11 felony counts. New GMA anchor NEW YORK: George Stephanopoulos has been named the new anchor of Good Morning America, and will start next Monday, ABC News President David Westin announced yesterday. Stephanopoulos, currently the moderator of the Sunday news show, This Week, will round out a new team for the morning show, anchoring alongside Robin Roberts. So when a pair of nephews decided to launch their own company last year and use the family name, the creator of Barely Legal, Busty Beauties and Daddy Gets Lucky wasted no time suing the upstarts for trademark infringement. Flynt accused his brother Jimmy Flynt’s sons in federal court of tarnishing his image by launching Flynt Media Corp and producing a series of videos he says are nothing but cheap knockoffs. ‘‘The junk they publish hurts my reputation, which in turn hurts my revenue,’’ the gruff, gravelly voiced porn king testified. The four women and four men of the mostly middle-aged jury stoically viewed photos of some of the nephews’ DVD boxes. Images of naked, well-endowed women on the front and people in all sorts of contortions on the back were flashed on a giant-screen TV right next to them. A few jurors scribbled notes.
