Amazing grace! how sweet the sound That saved a soul like me!
Was blind, but now I see.
And grace, my fears relieved; How precious did that grace appear The hour I first believed! The Lord has promised good to me His word my hope secures; He will my shield and portion be As long as life endures. Through many dangers, toils, and snares I have already come;
And grace will lead me home.
-thousand years Bright shining as the sun
Than when we first begun.

Twelfth Sunday in Ordinary Time Page 7
“What you hear in whispers, proclaim from the housetop”
Are we ready to do this?! Let us climb up to the highest building tops or mountains andproclaim the good news of the gospel! Who is with me?! (crickets) I know many of usmay say “Who, me? That's a job for the priest, deacons, nuns, even a catechist. I don'tknow what to say or how to say it? Remember, Jesus did not go to the priests … he wentto his followers, fishermen, tax collectors, ordinary people.
Fear not, God sent us his Spirit, to be with us till the end of time. How do we get started?When we draw from the well of the richness of our faith, we are blessed with manyexamples. Do as St. Francis of Assisi, “Preach at all times, and when necessary usewords” for it is not always about what we say, it is what we do. “Do small things withgreat love,” Mother Teresa.
Following Jesus is not an easy task. Society and our Catholic Christian beliefs don'talways coincide. Jesus never said it would be easy. But we need to truly understand thatour perspective is beyond this world. That is what it means to be a follower and adisciple of Christ. When we believe this to be true, it will show in our words and actions.
Of course, the greatest resource we have at our disposal is the Holy Spirit. It wasthrough Baptism that each of us first received the Holy Spirit, and at Confirmation wereceived the fullness of the Spirit's seven gifts. At times we will need to pray, “HolySpirit, guide me” calling upon the Strength, the Wisdom, and the Courage that the Lordand giver of life offers us.
As we go about our daily lives may we openly share God's love with others, through thestories of our big and little miracles but most of all of his presence in our joys, sorrows,in our homes, work and play. We should never be embarrassedor afraid to share our faith. They will know we are Christianby our love.

Protect the Children
Avoiding GossipIt is natural to discuss concerns and problems with the people in ourlives. If not careful, it can be easy for these discussions to slip intogossip. Teaching children to avoid gossip and focus on truth starts athome. Try not to gossip about rumors or people. Make statementslike “if we can’t say something nice, say nothing.” Teach children toseek solutions for problems rather than just talking about it.
