ENSEMBLE CAPRICE is one of Canada's leading early music groups on
period instruments known for its innovative and adventuresome ap-
proach to the repertoire. JUNO Award winner in 2009 for their Vi-
valdi’s Angels recording, The New York Times wrote “The ensemble
has established itself as an immensely thoughtful and progressive
force on the musical scene”. Critic Alex Ross of The New Yorker picked
their Bach/Shostakovich recording as one of the Notable Classical Per-
formances and Recordings of 2013. Founded and led by acclaimed
recorder virtuoso Matthias Maute, the Montreal based ensemble
tours extensively across Canada, United States, Europe, and also Asia.
