The Ensemble Desmarest is a group of young musicians, singers and instrumentalists gathered by harpsichordist Ronan Khalil. Founded in 2012, the ensemble is dedicated to baroque repertoire and is essentially centered around the voice. This choice is based on the education of its musical director, who disco-vered music through singing and the harpsi-chord before choosing to dedicate himself to the latter. As a result, the primary goal of the Desmarest Ensemble is to unify preparatory work between singers and instrumentalists by bringing each musician to the foreground and promoting a common position and manner of speaking, thinking and listening. Ronan Kha-lil has chosen these musicians based on their musical personalities in order to build a coll-ective dynamic. This approach allows the en-semble to redefine itself at each performance and always provide a novel interpretation.

Selected in 2012 to be one of the young en-sembles-in-residence at the Ambronay Cultu-ral Meeting Center, then named resident ar-tists at the Singer-Polignac Foundation in Paris in 2013, the ensemble has collaborated with some of the most talented musicians of the

new generation, such as Rodrigo Ferreira, Ca-mille Poul, Maïlys de Villoutreys, Dagmar Sas-kova, Manuel Nunez Camelino, Virgile Ancely and Jeanne Crousaud. They are also members of the network La Belle Saison - Concert Halls created by Olivier Mantei and Jean-François Dubos in collaboration with the Bouffes du Nord Theatre in Paris.

Since its inception, the Ensemble Desmarest has performed concerts and recitals throug-hout France (at the Lille Opera House, the Cou-lommiers Theatre, the Méjan Chapel, Lessay, the Abbey Festival in Deauville, the Midsum-mer Festival at Chateau Hardelot, the Am-bronay Festival, the Villefrance-de-Rouergue theatre, the Young Talents Festival and Sai-son, the Lez’arts à l’écoute Festival, the Royal Chapel Festival in Versailles, the Festival Les Ephémères, the Pays du Mont-Blanc Baroque Festival, etc) and abroad (Festival Pavia Ba-rocca, Bucharest Baroque Week, Leo Brouwer Festival in Havana, etc). Last april 2016, the Ensemble Desmarest released its first album Il Pianto della Madonna signed by label B Re-cords (distr. Naïve)
