Minimum Rate of Stipend per Month Payable to Trade Apprentices

• First year of Training :

70 % of Minimum Wage of Semi Skilled Workers Notified by the State Govt.

• Second year of Training :

80 % of Minimum Wage of Semi Skilled Workers Notified by the State Govt.

• Third and Fourth year of Training :

90 % of Minimum Wage of Semi Skilled Workers Notified by the State Govt.

Points to keep in mind while Calculating Stipend

• ITI Training Period Should be taken into Account while considering "Year of Apprenticeship Training”.

(For Example : ITI Pass out – Fitter candidate , Completed 2years basic Training in ITI and joined in Apprentice training (Should be Consider as 3rd year of Training) will be eligible to get 90 % of Minimum Wage of Semi Skilled Workers.)

Points to keep in mind while Calculating Stipend

• (For Example : ITI Pass out – Welder Trade candidate , Completed 1 year basic Training in ITI and joined in Apprentice training (Should be Consider as 2nd year of Training) will be eligible to get 80 % of Minimum Wage of Semi Skilled Workers.)

Reference Documents for Calculating Stipend

• VDA Notification for Scheduled employments notified under minimum wages act 1948. (Released by office of the Commissioner of Labor ,Chennai).

• Gazette Copy of Minimum wages G.O to the Related Scheduled Employment.

* Important Note :“DA will be raised Every 1st Aprilof Every year to the Scheduled Employments".Hence, Stipend to All Apprentices also will hikeevery 1st of April.

Model Stipend Calculation For Employment in Automobile Workshop • From April 2016 to March 2017

A. Min wages to Semi skilled Workers as per G.O - Rs 6623B. DA ( As Per Notification 2016-2017) - Rs 3184

C. Total Minimum Wages - Rs 9707

Rate of Stipend( As Per Stipend Notification) -Stipend Calculation

90% Of 'C" to Mechanic (Motor Vehicle) -

Rs 9707X90%=8736/-

80% Of 'C" to Sheet metal Worker in first year -

Rs 9707 X 80% = 7766 /-

90% Of 'C" to Sheet metal Worker in Second year-Rs 9707 X 90% = 8736 /-
