STEP ONE: PRE-REGISTRaTION

Follow this Step-by-Step Guide To help ensure your success at Ivy Tech - Bloomington, please take time to carefully read through this guide.

Complete an application Web: www.ivytech.edu/bloomington/admissions/applynow/index.html In-person: Visit room A129 on the Bloomington main campus.

Submit Transcripts and Test ScoresHigh school transcripts, GED scores, official college transcripts, SAT scores, and/or ACT scores should be submitted to the Registrar (A136).

Complete/Waive COMPaSS assessment For more information on the COMPASS, please turn to page 6. If you have prior college work or SAT scores of 460 or higher on Writing, Math, or Reading, you may be able to waive the COMPASS. See your advisor for more information.

Sign up for OrientationOrientation is mandatory. You will not be able to register for courses until you have met this requirement. To sign up, please visit www.ivytech.edu/bloomington/admissions/orientation.html.

STEP TWO: REGISTRaTION

Create a Campus Connect account You will need a Campus Connect account to register for classes online, and to access your Ivy Tech e-mail and many other important announcements (including Financial Aid information). To set up your account, visit http://cc.ivytech.edu/

Create an academic Plan for Your Time at Ivy Tech How many classes/credit hours will you take? At which location do you prefer to take classes? What time of day are you available to take classes?

Register for Classes Log on to your Campus Connect account to register online. You may also visit room A129 on the main campus to meet with a registration coordinator and register for your classes in-person.

Print ScheduleLog on to Campus Connect or visit the Registrar’s Office.

Obtain a Student IDStudent IDs are available in A211 on the main campus. During the first two weeks of class, IDs are made in the Student Commons. You may take your ID to the Library (A200) to have it activated as your library card.

STEP THREE: FINaNCIaL

Pay Tuition and Fees 1 credit hour = $99.65. Payment is due the Friday before classes begin. To pay in full, you may (1) log on to Campus Connect and pay online, (2) mail payment to Ivy Tech, attention: Business Office, (3) call the Business Office to pay by credit card over the phone, or (4) visit the Business Office in-person. Business Office hours are M-R 8:00 am - 6:00 pm and F 8:00 am - 5:00 pm.Payment plans are available to students through Nelnet for a $25 fee. To sign up, log in to Campus Connect, select Self Service Banner, select the Student Tab, select Student Account, and select Tuition Payment Plan.Refunds are available to students through HigherOne. You will receive an Ivy Tech Debit Card in the mail with information about your account. You must log on to www.ivytechdebitcard.com to select your refund preference (direct deposit, check, or HigherOne debit card). Contact: 812-330-6075

MORE INFORMaTION: COMPaSS

What is COMPaSS? Developed by American College Testing (ACT), COMPASS stands for COMputer-adapted Placement Assessment and Support Services. COMPASS is a series of basic skills assessments that cover reading, writing, and math skills. The results of the assessment are used to determine which classes students need to enroll in to be successful in their pursuit of a degree.

You will use the mouse and a few keyboard “keys” to select or highlight your responses as you move through the different assessments. Basic four-function calculators, scratch paper, and pencils are provided. COMPASS is not timed, but takes an average of one and a half hours. A PICTURE ID IS REQUIRED.

What Material is on the COMPaSS? The COMPASS assessment will focus on reading, writing, and math skills. Questions increase in difficulty depending on your skill level.

Reading• : Allows you to identify the main idea of a passage thereby measuring reading for comprehension and prior knowledge.Writing• : Allows you to edit text that has a variety of “problems.” Writing skills include grammar, punctuation, sentence structure, as well as strategy, organization and style in effective writing.Math• : Covers a variety of items from pre-algebra to elementary algebra.

Can I Retest? You may retest each section of the assessment once per semester after the initial testing, regardless of the reason for requesting the retest.

MORE INFORMaTION: Financial aid

You must complete a FaFSa (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) to be eligible for most types of financial aid.

If you file the FAFSA between January 1 and March 10, you will be applying for both State and Federal aid. After March 10, you will only be applying for Federal aid.

Fill out the pre-application worksheet (available at the Financial Aid desk) using your federal tax return

After receiving your PIN number and completing the FAFSA worksheet, log on to www.fafsa.ed.gov and submit your FAFSA

Your online FAFSA application is not complete until you receive a confirmation page. You should print this page and keep it for your records.
