Enneacard Instructions v.7 Finding Your Enneagram Personality Type using the Enneagram Explorations Enneacards Each Enneacard is coded on the back by color and letter. Begin by arranging the cards by color. Group cards by warm colors (red, orange and yellow) and cool colors (green, blue and purple). Separate warm colors from cool colors. Elimination Round 1: Warm Colors-Red, Orange & Yellow Enneacards: 1. Red A, Red B and Red C Enneacards are presented to the Test Taker. 2. Test Taker reads the words on each Enneacard and selects the Enneacard that is most like them.* Place chosen Enneacard on top of the other two red cards and set aside. 3. Repeat steps 1 & 2 with Enneacards Orange A, Orange B and Orange C. 4. Repeat steps 1 & 2 with Enneacards Yellow A, Yellow B and Yellow C. 5. Of the three remaining Enneacards, Test Taker again chooses only one Enneacard of the three (Red, Orange, Yellow). 6. Place chosen Enneacard at the top of the final 3 cards. (Save last 3 cards for later review as the test taker’s type is generally in the last 3 cards of each group of colors). 7. The final Enneacard will be a single Enneacard that is either Red, Orange, Yellow. *It is important that the Test Taker select the card that is true of them most of their life, most of the time. Not who they could be, should be, want to be or have become. In addition, the Test Taker should select the cards without consideration for how they think they may be perceived by others. Elimination Round 2: Cool Colors-Green, Blue & Purple Enneacards: 8. Repeat steps 1 & 2 with Enneacards Green A, Green B and Green C; 9. Repeat steps 1 & 2 with Enneacards Blue A, Blue B and Blue C 10. Repeat steps 1 & 2 with Enneacards Purple A, Purple B and Purple C. 11. Again, the Test Taker chooses only one of the (Green, Blue or Purple) Enneacards that the Test Taker finds most accurate. Final Round: 12. Test Taker should have a 6 card Enneaspread of their choices with their top two Enneacards choices above the other 4 cards. . 13. Test Taker chooses one of the top two remaining Enneacards. 14. Look at the code on the back of the chosen Enneacard and the Enneacard not chosen in the final round. Compare to the Master Key to find out which of the 9 Enneagram personality types most likely matches Test Taker. 15. If the two cards are the same Enneagram type there is a 90% probability that the test taker is that Enneagram type. 16. Repeat test for higher certainty of type. Enneagram Explorations highly recommends investigating both of the last two Enneacards chosen, and any Enneacards upon which the Test Taker was undecided during any point in the elimination process. All choices have meaning and can represent other aspects of the personality such as Instinctual Subtype, Trifix or Wings. If the final two Enneacards are the same Enneagram Type, our research suggests there is an over 90% statistical probability that this is the Test Taker’s Enneagram Type. If there are two different Enneacards, our research suggests there is an over 80% statistical probability that one of the two remaining Enneacards contains the person’s Enneagram Type. If the last two remaining cards are different, it is instructive to compare the last three cards of the warm colors against the last three cards of the cool colors. Any two matching cards within the 6 card Enneaspread increases the probability of type. When there is indecision, Test Givers report that they find it helpful to inquire as to the reasons for the cards ultimately chosen by the Test Taker. Always repeat the test to have more certainty. * *Please note that research has revealed that Type 6 and Type 9 have the most difficulty determining type. The very nature of the 6 doubt and 9 indecision make it more difficult for these types to have certainty of their type. Therefore, the accuracy for defining these two types in any Enneagram testing instrument is lower. If in selecting the Enneacards the Test Taker hesitated or identified somewhat with many of the Enneacards please consider Type 9 and Type 6 as possible types. Trifix: Your primary Enneagram Type and the dominant Enneagram Type in each of the other centers (head 5,6,7, heart 2,3,4 and gut 8,9,1) is your Trifix. This concept was first introduced by Ichazo and has been extensively researched by Enneagram Explorations. The Enneagram is a trialectic system and it is very instructive to discover your dominant Enneagram Type in each center. Your most dominant type is your primary Enneagram Type which acts like the CEO of your defense system. Your other two types are under the direction of your primary Enneagram Type but appear to be very influential in your life. Many people that have a difficult time determining their Enneagram Type may be struggling with choosing between types in their Trifix. To find the Trifix, sort the warm cards and then the cool cards cards by center. Always keep the warm cards separate from the cool cards. The code to the type is on the back of each card and the key to the type in on the back of this instruction page. Begin with the warm cards. Have the Test Taker select which head card is most like the Test Taker, then have them select a heart card and then a gut card. Put them in vertical sequential order and set them aside. Repeat with the cool cards and put the choices along side the warm cards so that the two head cards are next to one another and then the two heart cards are next to each other, etc. Then compare the choices from the warm and cool cards. If there is a matching pair in each center, you have probably determined the Tri-fix. If, for example, you have a Type 3 card in the warm colors but a Type 2 card in the cool colors, you then need to have the Test Taker choose between these two cards. For the most certainty, you can have them choose between the ten adjectives of the Type 3 cards against the ten adjectives of Type 2 cards. Repeat this selection process until the three warm card Enneagram Types match the three cool card Enneagram Types. Once you have determined the Trifix, have the Test Taker put the selected cards in vertical order with the dominant card on the top. If these two cards match the initial selection in the Enneacards Test it further increases the accuracy of possible type.
