TECHNICAL DESCRIPTION
The detailed design of the filter fixed internals is
critical to the successful long term operation of
the filter. Both top and bottom distributors have
triple functions.
Our top distributer design ensures even flow onto the
top of the media bed. The media used is selected and
graded to a specific size distribution, determined by
Enhydra, for each individual duty. The upper media
bed will be graded for optimum oil removal, the lower
media bed graded for the necessary solids filtration.
The bottom lateral design ensures even collection
across the media bed. Most importantly it optimises
the vigorous scrubbing of the media using a
combination of gas and water during the backwash
cycle with sufficient velocity to fully fluidise the bed
during wash water cycle.
During the backwash oil and solids contaminants
are released from the filter bed and flushed to the
backwash collection system. The backwash cycle is
triggered by either a timer or differential pressure
across the filter bed with either raw feed water or clean
water, the most appropriate selection being made for
each installation.
