No. Journal : 4 Practicum week : 4 Date : 23/2/2015 – 27/2/2014 Title of Journal :. 1. Problem/ Incident I did a mistake a of using so much of the pupils’ mother tongue during the lesson instead of using the target language which is the English Language throughout the lesson. I did so much of translation when giving explanation and when giving instruction. My lessons were also more to teacher centered where I am the one that fully utilize the target language but not the pupils. The pupils are communication mostly in the Malay Language with me and also with their classmates throughout the English Language lesson. 2. Analysis By this I noticed that they pupils do not learnt anything from my lesson. They are not able to communicate fluently using the target language. They are also not able to use the target language outside of the classroom. Although the lesson objectives are achieved, where the pupils are able to write and respond to my lesson, their oral skill is not developed. Inner voice I might find it difficult to carry out lesson fully in the target language because the pupils will not be able to understand the instruction and the explanations that I give. The pupils will also lose track in the lesson when they are not able to

The pupils will also lose track in the lesson when they are not able to understand the tasks that they should do. They will also start to ask questions one by one once I assign them the task. New awareness No matter what I have to avoid giving explanations and instructions in the Malay Language. I should fully use the target language in my lesson and also should motivate the pupils to use the target language during my lesson.

3. Future action plansI will make sure that I use strictly the target language of my lesson which is the English Language. I can use pictures, body language, actions and also facial expressions instead of using the translation method.

4. Time period for future action plansI might spend around 2 week for my plans to take place. I need to ensure that the pupils do not get demotivated in learning the target language once I get firm.
