Taman Rama School Jimbaran celebrated its 2019 English Week Celebration from

April 1st to 5th at The Third Floor Hall.

The program started at 11 o’clock in the morning with Matilda (Grade VIII) opening and

delivering a news about the said celebration. It was then followed by an oratorical

speech by Nico (Grade VII-A) and a sassy declamation piece by Gabby (Grade VII-B).

Everybody’s attention was caught by the beautiful stage play performance of the Grade

IX as they portrayed the Disney movie Frozen. The event ended with a splendid poetry

reading by Niken (Grade VII-B).

The second day was another exciting day for the students as they witnessed a poetry

choir by the Grade VIII students. They then watched a video recording of some Grade IX

students doing the Disney movie dubbing. Students were delighted as they witnessed the

live drama performance and singing of another stage play of the Disney movie Tangled.

Before the day ended, Miss Krisha J. Escorido, the English teacher of the Junior High

School, also shared and read one of her favourite poems on stage.

Fourth Day was allotted for Senior High School students under Mr. Richard D. Booth M.A.,

who also read one of his favourite poems in front of the audience. The Grade X-MIPA

brought the venue to Hogwarts as they did their own version of Harry Potter and the

Philosopher’s Stone.

The Fifth and final day of the week-long celebration was jumped-packed! It started with

Grade X-IPS sweeping off the audiences’ feet as they took the audience to Neverland for

the story Peter Pan. This was followed by a heartwarming family drama of the Grade XI-

MIPA. In their play, they also included using recyclable materials as they played live songs.

Mr. Jeff Cendana, head of the English Department, concluded the 2019 English Week

Celebration by expressing his gratitude and thanks to everyone who had helped in

making the event successful. He gave special thanks to the participants who exerted so

much effort in practicing, making props and even renting costumes to make the

celebration grandiose.

Truly, English Week Celebration is something that exposes the hidden talents of the

students. It was another success in the wings of Taman Rama Jimbaran, something that

students will anticipate every year.

The 21st of April 2019, marked the beginning of Kartini Day, a special day commemorating

the life and pioneer ideals of Raden Adjeng Kartini.

To begin the celebration, stools from all class were set up in the courtyard of the school.

There was live music, food and social interactions from students, teachers and even

parents – who came to see the efforts of the students. The bazaar most notably featured

Nasi Tumpeng – a yellow cone of rice from Java (quite the spectacle), as well as other

culinary delights from Java. The music performed by our talented students, also had origins

from the west of Indonesia. Finally, there were games for the students and parents to take

part in, to help burn off the energy from the delicious food.

After about two hours of festivities, the students were escorted to the hall of the school, to

watch a documentary Indonesian film called “Keindahan alam dan kearifan suku Badui".

Sadly the whole film was in Bahasa with no English subtitles, so us English teachers had no

idea what was being discussed. However, we could enjoy the visuals of what appeared to

be a very humble existence of the Badui people. Once the film had finished, the students

returned to their respective classrooms to continue the remainder of day, and so marked

another yearly celebration of Kartini Day.

A TEACHERS’ DELIGHT: A DAY TO UNWIND

The 27th of May, 2019 was a paper free day; a warm embrace of the tropical sun kissing

our skin, whilst sipping the euphoria of excitement anticipating the experience to be, in the

luxury of Bali’s seven-star hotel, Mulia.

The natural canopies and garden landscape provided an aesthetic blend of a tropical

playground, encouraging the inner child to explore; whilst being grounded on the familiar

feel of sun warmed pebbles. The cozy structure and intricate designs of the hotel clearly

defines the generous and creative hands of Bali; an expression of their culture and history.

All enjoyed the sumptuous banquet which elaborated on a fusion of cuisines across the

globe; each had its own historical facets – guaranteeing satisfaction to the taste buds.

The variety of food and drinks offered a unique perspective and opportunity to share inti-

mate moments with colleagues, discuss personal matters of interest, and above all build a

good rapport with everyone.

The day ended with the teachers wearing their biggest and unbridled smiles – perpetuating

the love and bond that was sincerely shared.

For the choir, it was the responsibility of the Elementary Students. Ms. Susi was the speaker

and read the speech from the Educational Minister. The speech’s message was about the

reflection of all of our efforts in the educational field, and was a call for us to strive to build

up a better education system. The theme for the National Education Day this year was

“Strengthening the Education and Bringing Forward the Culture.”

Besides this, we need to show good willingness to work sincerely for education, strengthen

our human resources and good conduct. After the flag hoisting ceremony the students

returned to normal class.

Mother’s Day Celebration by Krisha J. Escorido

On Thursday the 9th of Taman Rama School Jimbaran celebrated the World Mother’s Day.

The school hall on the third floor, was transformed into an avenue for students to recall the

importance of a mother’s love and life. This was done through a fifteen minute film about

the roles and rights of all mothers.

The students were exposed to different situations where a mum plays an important role. This

compiled short film stirred their hearts and minds that mothers are not just limited to

biological mothers, but motherly love may be found in our fathers, nannies, sisters, friends

and also our teachers.

Most students were touched and some even shed tears in appreciation of their mother’s

sacrifices. The event was more intensified when Ms. Susi addressed the assembly by giving

her personal story and feelings about her experiences of being a mother.

Select students from different grade levels gathered a band to perform the song “You Raise

Me Up” in dedication to all the mothers.

The celebration ended with all the female teachers on stage being thanked by their

students for being a second mum to them.

This is indeed a momentous occasion in the lives of the students where they are reminded

once again of the importance of their mothers.

Farewell Party by Richard D. Booth, M.A.

Today was a day to celebrate, a day to remember all the hardships and experiences

witnessed throughout their school life. It was a day for the graduating students to express

their gratitude to the their teachers and fellow students.

All events today were introduced by grade 11 IPA students Jeremiah and Owens. Despite

predominantly being a school of many ethnicities, it was surprising that most of the

performances be based around Korean contemporary dance.

Following the introduction from the days MCs, the event started with grade 9 student

Kishin, giving an introductory speech about his and his fellow classmates experiences and

the hopes for the future. A beautiful song by five of our school’s most talented singers;

Timothy (grade 7A), Georgina (grade 9), Kishin (grade 9), Jasmine (grade 11 IPA) and

Nadya (grade 12 IPA) really conveyed the love and warmth of the students.

Some music this time, with Grade 10 MIPA’s class band featuring; Adenata on drums,

Deverel on vocals, Billy on lead guitar, Hansen on bass and Ajay on rhythm guitar, their

number spiced up the event with a that touch of music that was much needed. Once the

crowds had settled down, the grade 12s gave a speech represented by IPS student Erdin

whose sarcastic and jovial speech made a few laugh in his class. The next events show-

cased more dancing from the grade 10 MIPA, featuring students: Olga, Angel, Kezia,

Evelyn and Grace. Their performance was a showcase of mix ‘Korean’ dance. Following

the grade 10s performance, grade 9 followed up the dance program with more ‘Korean’

dance – this time Hip-Hop. Grade 11 IPA’s student Jasmine followed up with a very long

and expressive ‘Korean’ sensual dance. The stage was then taken by the grade 9 and 12

students combined to create their band ‘Iridescent Flame’ to perform, more, ‘Korean’

dance. Finally, the event closed with a very moving song by the grade 11 IPA class band,

the song.

It was a wonderful morning for the students to show off their talents and pay regards to

their fellow school students.
