Date: From Monday May 25th to Friday May 29th 2020

in the hour when we have classes .(Do not worry if you deliver it later but I might send you the grades and the comments the next day)😊

There is going to be a Facebook group where your doubts are going to be cleared and other activities to rehearse are going to be posted. This is the name to find the group created to learn more (Englishthirdgrade Watsonycrick) If you don’t have a Facebook account you can join with the one of your parents and your parents can also do it)

There are going to be 2 sessions per week (On Tuesdays and Thursdays for 25 minutes each one) on the platform (ZOOM) You are

going to be given the link to join per group. It is not allowed to interrupt the class, if you do it you are going to be removed of the session without the chance of joining again all the week. (You must activate the video and your full name must be written or I won’t allow you join the meeting)

We are going to work in the platform “www.socrative.com” on Friday when we have classes. Read the instructions well. (you can

do it in your phone if you prefer)

1. You are going to click on (Login)

2. Then you have to choose (Student Login )

3. After that you have to write the Room Name (without spaces): ENGLISH3GRADE

4. Then you have to write your full name. (WITH CAPITAL LETTERS , YOUR NAME AND BOTH SURNAMES)

5. Then you start. (Do not register your name twice and do it in the hour that you have classes because I see your progress)

6. When you finish, click on (Log out) and that’s it.

I. Open your notebook and write the explanation of the topic of today. Reported speech is when we tell someone what another person said. To do this, we can use direct speech or indirect speech. Example: Direct speech: 'I work in a bank,' Daniel says. Indirect speech: Daniel said he worked in a bank. Direct speech: 'I worked in a bank,' Daniel says. Indirect speech: Daniel said he had worked in a bank. In indirect speech, we often use a tense which is in the past (e.g. worked) than the tense originally used (e.g. work). This is called 'backshift'. We also may need to change other words that were used, for example pronouns.

If we report what another person has said, we usually do not use the speaker’s exact words (direct speech), but reported (indirect) speech. Therefore, you need to learn how to transform direct speech into reported speech. The structure is a little different depending on whether you want to transform a statement, question or request. Statements When transforming statements, check whether you have to change: pronouns / present tense verbs (3rd person singular) /place and time expressions / tenses (backshift).

1. What do you know about being homeless? Does your city have a large homeless population? Why? 2. Do you think it's acceptable for children to work late at night selling flowers and singing? Do you think these

children need to be out doing this, or are they just earning extra money? why? 3. Do you think your town or city should make a place for beggars and homeless people to go, like a homeless shelter?

IV. Imagine that you are writing a letter to the government to give some advices to help those people who are homeless. ( Write about the shelters and wo should run this place / what you suggest the government should do to decrease their number / what you would suggest to provide them a job / how the government could support them economically . Follow this structure: Greetings and introduction / Reasons / Conclusions / Farewells with your name. You must write 50 words at least. (If you read it in the session you will be given extra marks)
