HYOSUNG GOODSPRINGS has grown into Korea’s No. 1 pump company, manufacturing excellent pumps for a diverse range of purposes,

from nuclear power plants to petrochemical plants, buildings/houses, industrial use, and ships, since its foundation in 1989. The company

obtained a certificate of KEPIC for nuclear power safety (Class 2) pumps for the first time in Korea in 1998, and “N” and “NPT” applying to the

ASME (the American Society of Mechanical Engineers) Class 2, 3, currently secured by only about ten pump companies worldwide, in 2009.

With regard to the desalination business, in addition, HYOSUNG GOODSPRINGS developed Korea’s first Containerized RO System and

exported it to overseas plants such as in Chile. The company has been growing with excellent output, such as obtaining an order for and

construction of desalination plant manufacturing of 120,000 tons per day. The company was selected to supervise the development of new

recyclable desalination plants, as part of Korea’s new growth engine smart projects, and successfully completed the project.

Pumps for power plantsHYOSUNG GOODSPRINGS designs and manufactures pumps satisfying allconditions, such as large capacity, high pressure, high temperature, andseawater, necessary for all of thermoelectric power, combined cycle and nuclearpower plants. The company manufactures seawater circulating pumps (CWP)and seawater lift pumps (SLP), which are large-sized vertical pumps with adischarge caliber of over 1600mm and made with more than 316L stainlessmaterials. In addition, the company designs, manufactures, and supplies safeand high quality pumps for nuclear power plants, treating safety as a prioritythrough the acquisition of ASME “N” and “NPT”, certificates obtained by onlyabout ten global pump companies.

Pumps for Oil & Gas plantsHYOSUNG GOODSPRINGS designs and manufactures pumps providing adiverse range of services, such as high temperature and high pressure, requiredby Oil & gas, chemical industry, and general industries. It satisfies the needs ofthe greatest domestic and overseas petrochemical companies. Pumps for desalination plantsSRO for RO is a core pump for seawater desalination facilities. They are large-capacity barrel pumps used to treat brine water with higher corrosiveness thanseawater. Desalination plantsHYOSUNG GOODSPRINGS manufactures valuable water for customersthrough the seawater desalination process using its 40-year pump engineeringtechnology and cutting-edge membrane separation technology. The companyprovides customers with total water solutions ranging from system consulting todesigning, purchasing, installing, test running, education and Q&M. HYOSUNGGOODSPRINGS supplied 119,000 tons of heavy water plant per day for DaesanIndustrial Water Plant, 125,400 tons of heavy water plant per day for Hyundai-Steel, and 17,400 tons of industrial water plant per day for oil refining facilities inthe Middle Eastern areas, and is stepping up to become the world’s No. 1company in the desalination industry using membrane separation technology.

Recognized as having technology in the desalination business, HYOSUNGGOODSPRINGS was selected as the leading agency for the development ofnew recyclable desalination plants in the advanced water treatment industry,among smart projects supervised by the Ministry of the Knowledge Economy,and completed the seawater desalination plant, where large-capacity ROmembranes are applied and 2,000 tons of water are treated per day, at theYeonghung Thermoelectric Power Plant.

The containerized RO iseasy to transport and simple to install at any place. It enables customers to easilyand conveniently operate in their offices, thanks to the use of an automaticrunning system and Tele Monitoring & Control (optional).


KEPIC A KEPIC certificate is issued by the Korea Electric Association for a productevaluated as properly maintaining nuclear power quality assurance. HYOSUNGGOODSPRINGS acquired Korea’s first KEPIC certification for nuclear powersafety class pumps (Class 2) on May 7, 1998.

A Certificate for high-efficiency equipmentHigh-efficiency equipment is a product certified by the Korea EnergyManagement Corporation as high-efficiency equipment, satisfying the energyconsumption efficiency and all the items of quality testing measured by adesignated testing agency such as the Korea Agency for Technology andStandards. HYOSUNG GOODSPRINGS contributes to customer cost savingsthrough its acquisition of a certificate for high-efficient equipment for the wholerange of vertical multi-stage pumps (EVM).

ASME “N”, “NPT”HYOSUNG GOODSPRINGS obtained “N”, “NPT” applying to the ASME (theAmerican Society of Mechanical Engineers) Class 2, 3, for the first time in Korea,in 2009. Class 1 is currently under research in Korea. HYOSUNGGOODSPRINGS is recognized as having the highest quality in the domesticpump industry.

CE Mark The CE (Conformite European) mark is a key indicator of a product’scompliance with EU legislation and enables the free movement of productswithin the European market without separate inspections or testing. HYOSUNGGOODSPRINGS has the CE mark on its single suction volute pumps forindustrial use (CFP) and single suction volute pumps (USP) and double suctionvolute pumps (HDR) for petrochemical uses.

Quality AssuranceHYOSUNG GOODSPRINGS continually carries out quality control and improvement activities through QA (Quality Assurance)experts in order to supply the highest quality products for its customers and assure the reliability of product quality through theacquisition of pump-related certifications for each industry. In addition, the company is establishing a system enabling one-stopstructures and timely delivery throughout the whole process, ranging from obtaining orders to designing, manufacturing, andafter-sales-service, through a Project management system.

ISO 9001 (Quality Management Systems)ISO 9001 certification is performed by third-party certification bodies (i.e. UK’sBVsQI, etc.) for companies’ quality management systems compliant with the ISO9000 series of standards published by the International Organization forStandardization (ISO). HYOSUNG GOODSPRINGS obtained certification for thefirst time on July 22, 1995.

OHSAS 18001, KOSHA 18001 (Safety and Health Management System)OHSAS(Occupational Health and Safety Assessment Series) 18001 is astandard for the requirements in understanding inherent risk factors in businessactivities and continually managing them in order to ensure safety and health ofthe employees and prevent industrial accidents. Certification is performed bythird-party certification bodies for whether a company’s voluntary systems and itsimplementation are compliant with the standard. The KOSHA 18001 certificationis given to a company where an autonomous safety and health managementsystem is established in accordance with the standards published by KoreaOccupational Safety & Health Agency and can be integrated with thequality/environmental management systems because it follows the ISO system.

ISO 14001 (Environmental Management Systems)ISO 14001 is an international standard for environmental management systemsset by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) that sets forth aseries of management activities continually improving environmentalperformances across the whole process of business activities. Beyond thesimple observation of environmental laws and standards, ISO14001 certificationis given to a company following its methodology: environmental policy, planning,implementation & operation, checking & corrective action, management reviewand continual improvement. HYOSUNG GOODSPRINGS not only providescustomers with the highest quality products, but also practices environmentalprotection activities.

HYDRO means a three-dimensional form of impeller and casing determining pump

performance. It is cutting-edge pump technology. In addition, testing the characteristics of

HYDRO and assuring testing reliability are required to develop independent new

products. HYOSUNG GOODSPRINGS is increasingly spurring the development of its

own models with excellent performances and pilot products through research into the

characteristics of HYDRO, given the establishment of the HYDRO testing facilities.

HYOSUNG GOODSPRINGS uses its HYDRO database, accumulated through many

tests and experiences, in designing the basic forms of pumps, and draws the optimal

three-dimensional form of the HYDRO through experiment design by adopting various

flow analysis programs and HYDRO design programs. In addition, the company

contributes to stable operation of pumps and extending pump life by checking whether a

vortex occurs or not through Sump Model Test, designing an anti-vortex system, and then

applying it to civil engineering structures. Particularly, HYOSUNG GOODSPRINGS

conducted many analyses on safety class pumps for nuclear power requiring a high level

analysis technique. HYOSUNG GOODSPRINGS holds the technology to conduct rotor

system vibration analysis, structure strength analysis, thermal stress analysis, structure

vibration analysis, seismic resistance analysis, operability analysis, thermal fluid analysis,

thermal fluid-structure interaction analysis, transient analysis, thermal shock test, etc., and

secures the safety of products to the maximum through those processes.
