English Notebook AS-Level English Literature 2015-2016
English Notebook
A Bound Composition Notebook
Required in class every day
Contains notes, handouts, concepts and assessments If absent, it is your responsibility to find out from
classmates what we added to get your notebook caught up
English Notebook
Your name must be on the outside cover of your notebook Be careful not to confuse notebooks
You may decorate your notebook with stickers and scrapbooking materials, but they should not interfere with the material found in the notebook. Remember all decorations must be school appropriate! Absolutely no graffiti or tagging is allowed.
English Notebook Standards
All non-assignment materials for this class must go into your notebook
You may write in the notebook as needed
You may glue or tape papers into the notebook
Materials are available to help you cut and paste pages
Page Titles
Every page should have the activity name on the top of the page
We should all use the same titles
When activities are introduced, they will be accompanied by the page number, activity name, and appropriate handouts
Every Page Must Be Numbered!
Each activity will have a specific page (or range)
Some activities may have several pages
If more than one page is needed you may: Write smaller, or Use a couple of pages Tape in extra pages as you need them
You can use multiple pages, but the goal is that everyone in the room will have the same thing on the same page
Page Numbering…
• Number the first page with lines with a “1” in the upper right hand corner
• Now, number the second page (back side of page 1) with a “2” in the upper left hand corner
• Continue until you have numbered 52 pages

The first 5 pages are the Table of Contents
As we begin activities, we will assign page numbers, activity names, and methods of attaching handouts
The first activity begins on page 6

Now let’s setup the activities: - After Table of Contents on pages 1-5,
number page 6 - Write the title:

- Tape handouts: Your Syllabus
On page 7, Write the title:

On page 35, Write the title:

Turn to the back cover…
Turn your book over.
The back cover will be where you will keep your SSR Journal Entries
Remember to date each entry
A master list of notebook pages will be kept in Ms. Yap’s model notebook.
Notebooks will be collected periodically and checked.
Everyone’s notebook should be set up the same.
That setup will continue
throughout the entire year.

They will be assessed for: All pages numbered correctly
All pages have the correct content
No doodling/inappropriate material anywhere in the notebook
Neatness and completeness
Your notebooks will be picked up periodically
