Tell us about your role at 4Life®.

I’ve been at 4Life for 12 years. My most important role is to ensure that 4Life and our distributors comply with all applicable regulations and laws throughout the countries we serve. I enjoy helping 4Life distributors build successful businesses.

Why is it important for distributors to make compliant statements about 4Life products?

United States government agencies that oversee our industry have strict rules. The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) protects consumers from unfair, deceptive, and fraudulent practices in the marketplace. The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) ensures the safety of cosmetics, foods, dietary supplements, and drugs. The FTC and FDA aggressively enforce laws by searching the Internet for exaggerated claims and sending undercover agents to distributor meetings. Distributors who make exaggerated claims about 4Life products and the business opportunity put 4Life and themselves at risk for disciplinary action.

How are 4Life products regulated?

In the United States, 4Life products are regulated by the FDA’s Dietary Supplement Health and Education Act of 1994 (DSHEA). Under the DSHEA, dietary supplement marketers cannot claim that their products diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent disease. The DSHEA only allows “structure/function” claims, which must be supported by competent and reliable scientific evidence. Such claims refer to the healthy structure and/or function of different body systems.

What are your best tips for staying compliant?

1. Always think in positive terms. For example, you can say that 4Life products support healthy body systems, but avoid mentioning 4Life products in conjunction with disease or illness. This is especially important when making testimonials.

2. Never indicate that a 4Life product treated, cured, prevented, or mitigated a disease or illness.

3. Be realistic, avoid exaggeration, and include all of the facts. For example, certain 4Life products support weight management when taken in conjunction with a healthy diet and exercise.

4. Use social media to share 4Life products, but do so in a compliant way. Keep in mind that the FTC and FDA monitor social media websites for exaggerated product and income claims, and they take serious action against those who violate regulations.

BBB accreditation and DSA membership give credence to the 4Life opportunity and assures distributors and customers that we have high integrity and ethical standards. This helps build trust.

Ten Years of Building Children, Families, and Communities!

In 2006, we began our mission to build individuals, families, and communities wherever 4Life® conducts business, with a particular focus on the children of the world.


We launched at La Casa Rosada orphanage in the Dominican Republic with the construction of a new wing. Today, our funding enables all of the kids to go to school, no matter their age or ability.

At Nkosi’s Haven in South Africa, we donated money for a farm that provides food for families and reduces living costs. Our monthly support helps improve skills and academic opportunities for local children.

We kicked off a scholarship program and granted college scholarships to two students in the Dominican Republic. Currently, we provide scholarships to 83 children around the world.

The Community Development Program in Jardines del Norte, Honduras began with the construction of a community center. This program has funded new classrooms, a garden, bathrooms with running water, a well, a recycling program, education classes, and a computer lab.

We broke ground on two classrooms at the Dona Justa Guido Memorial School in Rizal, Philippines. This project has added new bathrooms, a library, a water collection and filtration system in the community, and several educational scholarships.

We started an educational program to sponsor low-income schools in the United States—Ohio, Florida, California, and Utah. Currently, we provide back-to-school supplies every year, weekend snack packs, coats, school uniforms, and grocery stipends.

We began sponsoring Nur Iman orphanage in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia with school supplies and uniforms. We

provide scholarships that include tuition, school fees, uniforms, school supplies, and transportation for all 45 children.

In Indonesia, we constructed education centers in the villages of Cikareo and

Tegallangkap in Bogor, West Java, providing 200 children with ongoing

academic opportunities. We now support 332 families with enhanced nutrition, sanitation, education, and livelihood

development programs.
