The next Stage of EU emission standard comes into force in 2019 (< 56 kW and ≥ 130 kW) and 2020 (56-130 kW) for non-road machinery equipped with diesel engines. The standard continues the path towards reduction of NOx and particulate emissions, and affects machines for contruction, agricultural, materials handling, garden machinery and

generator sets. Stage V introduces a limit on the number of particulates (PN), thus requiring the adoption of diesel particulate filter (DPF) for engines in this range and the development of a regeneration strategy.

• EU countries enter the Stage V in 2019 (19 kW-56 kW) and in 2020 (>56 kW) with the aim of reducing particulate numbers and mass

• The US is currently regulated by EPA Tier 4 Final

• Countries such as Switzerland or Japan refer to specific norms that move to the same levels of specifications

• Countries, such as Brazil, Russia and Chile, require less stringent levels

• Other countries could be considered as non-regulated ones

KOHLER Flex is the range of solutions for emission control that Kohler has designed to enable each configuration of the KDI platform to comply with all emissions standards and regulations, worldwide. At the heart of KOHLER Flex there is the clean combustion of KDI engines that enables the adoption of a compact, state-of-the-art DPF to meet the Stage V emission standard. KOHLER Flex combines the clean in-cylinder combustion of KDI engines, made possible by state-of-the-art high-pressure common rail (2000 bar), 4 valves head, turbocharger and cooled-EGR, and the most compact aftertreatment devices (DOC, DPF and SCR) to comply with all emission requirements.Each combination of KOHLER Flex has been designed in line with the all-in-one philosophy, with the objective of minimizing change for engine installation into existing packages. These efficient and reliable systems can be deployed in many combinations to achieve effective emissions solutions for the different markets.
