Design and drafting technologists prepare engineering and architectural plans as well as project specifications for commercial and residential buildings and other construction projects. Their work is essential to all aspects of engineering and construction – and students at Lethbridge College will gain both the theory and experience they need to succeed on the job or in their future studies.
Our program provides you with a comprehensive understanding of design and drafting in mechanical, architectural/structural, municipal, piping and topographical fields. Fundamentals in these areas are applied with hands-on projects using computer-assisted drafting technology, including some of the latest 3D design applications.
You’ll gain an understanding of engineering fundamentals to provide you with a solid basis for entry into this exciting and challenging field, and you’ll learn how to produce and interpret industry-quality engineering designs and plans. When you graduate, you’ll be in demand: the program’s employment success rate is very high.

Geomatics brings together surveying and mapping with widely popular technologies such as global positioning systems (GPS), geographic information systems (GIS) and satellite image analysis. Geomatics engineering technologists determine or establish boundaries by searching survey records and land titles, conducting field work and preparing plans.
Lethbridge College’s practical two-year diploma in Geomatics Engineering Technology will prepare you to be part of this dynamic field with great jobs in areas ranging from surveying and land management to geographic information systems and mapping.
In year one of the program, we’ll give you a comprehensive introduction to engineering fundamentals. Using hands-on exercises, we’ll introduce you to surveying, mapping and data collection techniques. In the second year, you’ll hone your skills in collecting high-precision location data as well as learn how to map and analyze data using industry-standard software applications. Civil engineers build society’s infrastructure, including roads, urban subdivisions, and water, sewer and storm-water systems. Lethbridge College’s Civil Engineering Technology program gives you the skills and experience you’ll need to succeed in this high-demand profession.
