CONFLUENCE – 18
The Dept of E&CE organized a two day
“CONFLUENCE” under IEEE Student
Branch. It is a Inter-Collegiate Technical
fest to carry out many technical and few
non-technical events.
As a part of the fest Twenty-three events
were planned, among Twenty-three events,
15 events were conducted. Six technical
events and nine non-technical events were
conducted out of fifteen events. The events
conducted on 9th April 2018 are Mini
cricket, Basket-ball. On second day, 10th of
April 2018, we started the fest with Tech-
Quiz, Tech-Charades, Tech-Debate, Tech-
Rangoli, Tech-Treasure Hunt, Chess,
Carrom, NFS/FIFA, Hogathon, Mini
cricket, Minute to Win It, Anthakshari,
Basketball.
A total of 135 students participated
in this inter-collegiate fest. About 34
students from other colleges RNSIT,
Dr.AIT, ACS, APS, BMSCE, DBIT,
KSSEM, RVCE, SJBIT, SVIT and 101
students from E&CE department are
participated in various events.

VERVE-18 was inaugurated by chief
guests Prof. K. Siddappa, Former-Vice
Chancellor, Bangalore University and Mr.
Naganagouda S.J, Associate Vice President &
Head of Human Resources, M/s Global Edge
Software Ltd., Bengaluru, presided by Dr.
Mrityunjaya V. Latte Principal, JSSATEB on
27th April 2018 at 9.30 PM at our college
premises. On VERVE-18, Prof. Jagdeesh
Prabhu, Dean student welfare, welcomed the
gathering, Dr. Malini Patel , Associate Professor,
Information Science & Engg. Read college
report , Chief guest Prof. K. Siddappa and Mr.
Naganagouda made presidential address, Ph.D
scholars and Rank holders were felicitated by
chief guests. Prof. M.V.latte Principal address
the gathering and, Dr.Mahesh B, HOD of
chemistry presented vote of thanks. All the
Deans, HOD’s and section heads graced the
occasion.The inauguration of VERVE 18 was
followed by several competitions / events such
as Mr. & Ms. JSS , Western and Eastern Dance,
Dhwani & Meraki Performance, Trunk
promotion, Fashion show and DJ night.

On 28th April 2018, events such as Beat
Boxing, Solo/Duet Dance, Asus Gaming and
live in concert by well known Bollywood singer
Armaan Malik held. Large no of students and
public witness the whole program. Prior to
Verve 18, on 15th April, UNICEFJSS run was
organized, around 1500 runners participated in
the marathon. UNICEFJSS run was inaugurated
by chief guest Dr. Kripa Alva, Chairperson,
Karnataka State Commission for Protection of
Child Rights and Mr. Sony Kutty George, Child
Protection Specialist, United Nation Children’s
Fund, UNICEF Field office for Andra Pradesh,
Telengana and Karnataka. The whole program
was conducted in a successful manner.

Activities under IEEE
♦ Talk on “Development of OFDM” was conducted on 9th April 2018 for 7th/8th Sem
students. Dr. Ragunath K, Director (Academics), RLS Solutions addressed the gathering.
Activities under IETE
♦ Technical talk on Transforms for Signal Processing Application was organized on 13th
April 2018, 2 hrs, for 4th semester students. Dr. Satheesh Kumar H C, professor, Dept. of
Electronics & Communication, Sai Vidya College of Engineering, Bengaluru delivered the
talk.
♦ Technical talk on “Career Development Programme” was organized on 24th April 2018,
for 6th & 8th semester students. Mr. Ankith, Career Endeavores, Bengaluru addressed the
gathering
♦ Technical talk on “Careeer Development in VLSI” was organized on 10th May 2018 for 6th
Sem StudentsMr. Yathish Kumar, Micro chip Corporation, Bengaluru delivered the talk.
Activities under IETE Forum (ATHARAV):
♦ Blood donation activity was conducted at college level on 8th March 2018 .
♦ Girl Students from 6th semester were part of INTERNATIONAL GIRLS in ICT Day 2018
celebrations and participated in the animated discussion on Tech Entrepreneurship,
Innovation, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Intelligent BOTS, Block chain and
IoT for business and careers on 19th April 2018 at JSSATE, Bangalore.
♦ The planned Plantation activity was conducted at college level on World Environment Day
on 5th June 2018
♦ Workshop of PRAYOGeek kit was conducted by Mr.Chetan Prasad G & Mr. Venkatesh M

Parent teacher meet
The Department of Electronics &
Communication Engineering had arranged
Parent teacher meeting on 5th May 2018 at
10:30 AM in Library Seminar Hall. Around 30
parents attended the meeting. Mrs. Kavitha M,
Assistant Professor, Dept of ECE welcomed
Dr H S Aravind, HOD, Dept of ECE, Dr B G
Shivaleelavathi, Professor, Dept of ECE, all
parents and staff for the meeting. HOD
welcomed the gathering. HOD informed
parents that the Department is accredited for
three years from 2017 to 2020and increase in
intake for ECE from 120 seats to 180 seats.

organized a VGST sponsored Faculty
Development Program on “Internet of
Things” from 18th to 23rd June 2018. 40
candidates from neighboring colleges
participated in the FDP. The FDP was
scheduled for 6 days and total 19
lecture sessions with hands on were
scheduled. The resource persons were
from Industry – FICE and Nihon
Communication Solutions Pvt. Ltd.
One day industry visit was organized to
FICE and FluxGen Engg.Technologies,
which are IoT based companies.

♦ Mr. Vinay M E, 8th semester student
1. Has collected 1957 self clicked pictures of clouds of different patterns and shapes, is
entered in Limca Book of Records 2018 Edition.
2. Has been successfully completed three days “Certified Professional Course on Solar
Energy” conducted by MSME Govt. of India under Institute for Design of Electrical
Measuring Instruments at Bangalore on 19th to 21st January 2018.
3. Participated in Second State Level Model making competition conducted by
GSSSIETW Mysore (TELEUTSAV -2018) on 21-04-2018 to exhibit project titled
"Solar Based Smart Street Lighting System ".
♦ Vinay M E was awarded Best Student Award from Indian Society For Technical
Education 15th ISTE Karnataka Section .
♦ Shambulinga, Sucheeth V & Rakesh H, 8th sem students Participated in Second
State Level Model making competition conducted by GSSSIETW Mysore
(TELEUTSAV -2018) on 21-04-2018 to exhibit project titled "Solar Based Smart
Street Lighting System".
♦ Students of 6th semester, A Thrived, Abyudaya Sharma, Aditya Saurav Vijay, P
Das, Kiran kumar SP, presented a poster on ' Radial Pulse Diagnostic System ' under
the guidance of Prof. S T Veerabhadrappa. They have been awarded first place with a
cash price of Rs. 10,000 /- in the poster making competition ('TECHNOAYURVEDA')
held as a part of 5th ' AYURVEDA PARV' 2018 conducted by Sri Sri Ayurveda
College Of Ayurvedic Science And Research.
♦ Anuroop P Das, Yashaswinin Maya, Aditya Saurav Vijay won “EGA-Two Wheeler
Hybrid Championship” at TVS Institute for quality and Leadership, Karnataka (SAE
INDIA) held on 16th June 2018

♦ Dr. B G shivaleelavathi had proposed a FDP on “Internet Of Things” to VGST and
have been sanctioned with an amount of rupees 2,00,000 for conducting the FDP
