1.0 SCOPE:
1.1 TO PROVIDE A METHOD OF SELECTING "O" RINGS FOR VALVE SERIES 1900, 1970, 1990,2900, 19000, 3900 & 4900 VALVE APPLICATIONS AND 8 DIGIT PART NUMBER REPLACEMENTSFOR 7 DIGIT PART NUMBERS.
1.2 REVISION TO THIS INSTRUCTION MAY REQUIRE A CORRESPONDING REVISION TO DRAWING310 AND INSTRUCTION EG057.
2.0 "O" RING SELECTION FOR NEW VALVES:
2.1 MATERIAL SELECTION IS A FUNCTION OF VALVE SET PRESSURE, RELIEVINGTEMPERATURE (FOR FIRE APPLICATIONS THE VALVE OPERATING TEMPERATURE IS USED)AND FLUID.
2.2 MATERIAL SELECTION IS ACCOMPLISHED AS FOLLOWS:
2.2.1 REFER TO TABLE 1.
2.2.1.1 FOR 2900, 3900 & 4900 SERIES MAIN VALVES, THE FOLLOWINGMATERIALS ARE STANDARD:
2.2.1.2.1 STEAM SERVICE IS TEFLON. ONLY ALTERNATIVE IS EPRFOR TEMPERATURES UNDER 400EEF AND PRESSURESBELOW 50 PSIG.
2.2.1.2.2 GAS, AIR, AND LIQUID SERVICE IS 70 DUROMETER NITRILE.
2.2.1.2.3 ONLY DEVIATE FROM STANDARD IF TEMPERATURE,PRESSURE, OR MEDIA REQUIRE IT.
2.2.1.2 LOCATE VALVE FLUID AND READ THE APPLICABLE O-RING MATERIALS.FOR FLUIDS NOT LISTED, THE CUSTOMER MUST SPECIFY THE O-RINGMATERIAL.

LOCATE THE VALVE TYPE AND SET PRESSURE AND READ THE "O" RING DUROMETER AND SIZE CODE.
2.2.3 REFER TO TABLE 3.
2.2.3.1 LOCATE THE MATERIAL AND DUROMETER AND READ THE MATERIALDESCRIPTION, TEMPERATURE LIMITS AND MATERIAL CODE.
2.2.3.2 CHECK THE TEMPERATURE LIMITS FOR THE SPECIFIED MATERIAL. REPEAT 2.2.3.1 FOR APPLICABLE MATERIALS IF TEMPERATURE LIMITSARE EXCEEDED. FOR SOME CONDITIONS OF FLUID, PRESSURE ANDTEMPERATURE "O" RINGS CANNOT BE OFFERED.
3.0 REPLACEMENT PARTS ORDER:
3.1 EFFECTIVE SEPTEMBER 1986, "O" RINGS FOR ALL SAFETY RELIEF VALVES HAVE BEENPLACED ON DRAWING NO. 310. THE MATERIAL DESCRIPTION AND CODES HAVE BEENCHANGED WHEN COMPARED TO DRAWING NO. 312 AND THE PREVIOUS DRAWING NO. 310. THE "O" RING SIZE CODE HAS BEEN CHANGED FROM THE DRESSER TWO DIGIT CODE TOSTANDARD AS568A (AEROSPACE STANDARD) THREE DIGIT CODE. "O" RING SIZES WHICHDO NOT CORRESPOND TO THIS STANDARD HAVE BEEN ASSIGNED A DRESSER TWO DIGITCODE WITH AN "S" PREFIX. EXAMPLE: S01 - SPECIAL "O" RING SIZE TO DRESSERDRAWING NO. 310. AN "N" SUFFIX AT THE END OF THE PART NUMBER INDICATES"NUCLEAR SERVICE" WITH CONTROLLED BATCH IDENTIFICATION (CBI) WITH PHYSICALS(HARDNESS, TENSILE, AND ELONGATION).
3.2 MATERIAL SELECTION
MATERIAL SELECTION MAY BE ACCOMPLISHED PER TABLE 4 OR PARAGRAPH 2.0.
