REAL LIFE!
TEAMWORK• Students work on a
design team for the entire year.
• This process helps simulate a real-world workplace experience.
• How students choose their teams is VERY important!
RESEARCH• Students choose a
problem that they could solve by creating an innovative product or process.
• This stage requires a lot of research as students try to justify and validate not only their problem selection, but their preliminary design ideas.
DESIGN• Students come up
with their designs through a series of sketches, 3D Modeling, and building a mock-up.
DEVELOPMENT• Students present
their design ideas in order to get feedback on how they should proceed.
• Students refine their designs.
PROBLEM SOLVING• Students learn how
to be good problem solvers through this process.
• Even more important than solving a problem is being able to explain the process behind their decision-making.
COMMUNICATION• The most beneficial
aspect of this course is the communication piece:– Group– Instructor– Mentors– Peers– Target Market– Panel of Experts
