METER PROGRAM The operating program of the meter has the following parts:

The TOU program;

The parameters relative to the maximum demands and load profile

The display sequences program

Miscellaneous parameters

The meter performs the energy measurement in 14 registers as follows:

Active imported energy

Active exported energy

Cumulated active energy

Reactive energies in I, II, III, IV quadrants

Cumulated reactive energies for the quadrants I+II, III+IV, I+III, II+IV,

Total reactive energy

Imported and exported apparent energy

Among these registers, up to eight of them can be chosen to be subject of the time

program in four tariffs in two different time sequences.

The meter calculates the maximum demand values for up to eight power registers

selected from the fourteen possible. These registers function in an ON-OFF regime after a

time program. For every power associated with a maximum demand register a threshold

value in percent from the maximum power of the meter. The maximum power is

calculated from the nominal value and the maximum current of the meter for every meter

variant.

The time program structure is as follows:

Seasons: Up to 12 time periods (seasons) of the year characterized by the beginning

day and month can be defined. For every season, the behavior for every day of

week (Monday…Sunday) is defined by allocating a day type to each of them.

Day types: Up to 24 day-types are possible to be defined, each of them being

characterized by the following features:

Two tariff-change sequences in up to four tariffs; in every sequence up to ten

switches can be defined, the time resolution for every switch being 30 minutes.

An ON-OFF switching sequence for every register from the four maximum demand

registers; in every sequence up to ten switches can be defined, the time resolution

for every switch being 30 minutes.

The operational program comprises also the selection of the energy registers associated

with TOU program and the selection of the power registers that will function after the

time schedule in the ON-OFF regime.

The Exclusion dates: Up to 64 special dates characterized by month, day and year

can be defined. These dates are exceptions from the TOU program as it is defined in the

corresponding season. For each special date the user can define the day type and the

number of days for this exception.

The Load profile and Maximum demand parameters:

Page 6: EnerluxTnlib

6

Up to eight channels that will be stored in the load profile can be defined. The

channel selection is made from the 14 energy registers and the average voltage on the

three phases. The acquisition period in the load profile can be selected from the following

values string: 1,2,3,5,10,15,20,30,60 minutes.

The meter can four maximum demand registers corresponding for up to four

power types from the 14 types possible. The maximum demand calculus method can be

fixed interval type or sliding window type. The integration time can be selected from the

values string: 1,2,3,5,10,15,20,30,60 minutes. The user can set an inactive time for the

MD reset button of the meter and a forgiveness time for the MD calculus after a voltage

fault.

Display sequences:

The meter has two display sequences (1-normal, 2-alternate) the user can switch

between them using a button from the meter front plate.

Other parameters can be also programmed:

The daylight saving time rule: The change is made in every last Sunday of March

and October. The user can program the hour when the change will take place together

with sense of change. The daylight saving time change can be disabled.

The day for billing period; the user can program the day for billing period ending.

A new self-read will be made, with storing of energy registers and resetting the maximum

demand values.

The data set returned at the readout data operation as defined in IEC 1107. There

can be selected various combinations with the values of energy and maximum demand in

current billing period and the other periods. The reading of the events table can also be

programmed.

The events set that will be recorded in the events table; there can be selected from

the following event types: phase polarities, error in DSP circuit, battery, clock

programming, parameters programming, error in phase succession, reversing the energy

flow, network frequency out of range, the maximum demand value above defined

thresholds, the phase voltages out of range, and the voltage fault.

The display behavior regarding the warnings: the warnings will be ignored, added

on the end of the sequence or the display will freeze on warning

The display hold time for every displayed quantity.

The function accomplished for each of the three relays of the meter: none, the

maximum demand value above the programmed thresholds signaled out, the end of

integration period signaled out, the entering in one of the four tariffs in a certain sequence

is signaled out, the relay is used for pulse generation for active or active energy.

Besides the program proper, the current date and hour can also be programmed in

the meter. Other special commands are also available.

The program files, edited or read from the meter have pextn extension. Their

implicit location is <Folder Opticom2K>\ENERLUXTn Files\Program. Programs editing

and writing operations are made by means of a property sheet. Every time it is appealed

to for the creation of a new file, its contents will be of a self-created program file

type called “template.pextn”. Since this file is self-creating during the program

running, do not save your own programs in this file.

Page 9: EnerluxTnlib

Operating program creation, editing, and writing

The operating program creation, editing and writing can be carried out by means of

PROGRAM property sheet.

The contents of the property sheet contain either template.pextn file, or the program file

loaded in the view zone of the main window of Opticom 2k program, if it exists.

The property sheet contains five property pages: Program summary, TOU program,

Max. demand and Load profile and Display sequences and Other parameters.

Page 10: EnerluxTnlib

Program summary

This page enables program files loading and saving, current loaded program view, the

specification of target meter parameters (address and password) with reference to the

current meters list, the specification of what is required to be written into the meter, as

well as the communication process starting and control. The table shows the current

program contents loaded for editing and/or writing. Description column shows the

program line significance, Value column shows the program line according to syntax,

and Explanation column contains a concise explanation of the program line. The non-

defined program lines have NULL value.

Load button enables the loading of a program file other than the current one by means of

a standard box, Open. If the user has made modifications in the previously loaded file, a

warning will inform about the loss of the modifications that have been carried out.

Save button pressing saves the current file loaded by means of a standard box, Save As.

The user can navigate trough the table using the combo-box Go to section.

Meter group contains the combo box referring to the list of current meters, and General

option referring to a generic meter not included in the meters list. In case there is no

current list, only General option is present. Description combo-box contains the

description of all the meters from the meters list selected in Opticom 2k program. The

target meter selection is made from this running list. If All meters check box is selected,

the programming operation will be successively applied to all the meters on the list. If the

current list is null, the check box is disabled. This communication option shall be used

only when the meters are connected to a communication bus. Serial no and

Password editing fields reflect the contents of the current list concerning the meter series

(used as communication address) and password. For General option, these fields contain

Page 11: EnerluxTnlib

11

General series and NULL password, or the one established in the reading dialogs

behaviour. The alteration of these fields is operative only during the existence of

PROGRAM property sheet, it not being contained in the meter list used by the program.

Communication section allows the communication operation starting and control.

The user may choose to enter write cumulated or separately for the following items:

Or he can choose the option Selection of single parameter if it is enabled. This option is

mutually exclusive to the other above options. The option is expressed by marking the

chosen check box. Before the programming process to start, the program detects if the

programming operation requires a previous erase of the stored data and warns the user, so

he can abort the operation. The user can make the option to create a new billing period

before programming by checking the option New billing period before program

providing that the register values will not be lost, excepting the load profile. When the

user reprograms the display sequences, he may choose to erase the old sequence by

checking the option Erase old display sequence. This can be useful when a long

sequence is replaced with a shorter one.

Pressing Start button starts the communication operation. The communication process

can be watched in WR (no. of transmitted characters) and RD (no. of read characters).

Pressing Stop button can stop the process. If an error happens to appear during the

communication process, the process ends and the user is warned by error message. The

properties page cannot be changed and PROGRAM property sheet cannot be closed

during the process.

Page 19: EnerluxTnlib

19

METERS ACCESS Communication with the meters

The communication with the meters is based on IEC1107 module C protocol provisions.

The type of transmission is asynchronous, half duplex, with the following format of the

communication word: one start byte, 7 data bytes, even parity, one stop byte.

Communication starts with a foreword, initiated by the computer which comprises the

selection of the meter through its address, the meter type reading, and the negotiation of

the baud speed at which the communication will take place, and the type of

communication (data reading, program(s) reading). After this initial phase the reading or

writing operation is carried out.

The address of the meter is the specified one in the current list selected in Opticom 2k

program, and it has to correspond to the meter series + the last two digits of the

manufacturing year. The address is compulsory only for the meters connected to this

communication bus. In case of meters read through the optical port, the address is not

needed to be specified, the address used being General. On the other hand, the addresses

of Pxx cu xx=00…39 form are reserved to be used together with the parallel multiplexing

interface. They shall not be used if this interface is not present at the meter parallel port

that has been previously selected.

The meter proposes the communication speed, and it is the speed previously pre-

programmed in the meter. The program may ignore this proposal and forces another

communication speed.

Data reading requires only the knowledge of the communication protocol. An automatic

safety algorithm ensured by the program shall be fulfilled in program reading mode. The

programming mode requires the knowledge of the password previously entered into the

meter. If no password has been previously programmed, the chosen password shall be

void (equivalent with NULL password).

Certain reading or programming functions are available only when the meter is in the

CALIBRATING MODE. This mode operates only if a hardware modification is carried

out in the meter after it’s unsealing.

ENERLUXTn.mpl module accepts only ENERLUX Tn type meters. If another type

of device is accessed, even by observing IEC1107 requirements, error is signaled

out.

Page 20: EnerluxTnlib

20

Reading dialogs behavior

The dialog box enables the configuration of the meter reading dialog boxes behaviour by

selecting or not Starts automatically and Close when communication ends options.

Default password editing field enables password configuration for “General” options, as

well for the quick programming. The option Warn before saving is related to the display

of the warning dialog boxes concerning the data erasing before the meter programming

operation. When importing load profile files from PSION terminals, the user can choose

for automatic generation of associated XML files. For data, report and load profile

readings the user can define new subfolders or reuse the existing ones.

Meters reading The meters reading functions refer to the following possibilities:

The data reading as the meter supplies them.

The reading of the meter work program as it has been previously programmed.

The reading of the meter status data: clock, display mode, working mode, and

current loop status.

The reading of a complete report of the contents of the meter memory which sums

up the values of all the previous reading types.

The result of the successful reading operations is the storage of the data read in

the files with names of the following type: MeterSerialNo@yymmddhhmmss and

extensions of dextn, pextn, sextn types, and rextn type, respectively (for program files

@yymmddhhmmss does not appear). After each successful reading operation, the

corresponding file will be automatically loaded in the view zone of Opticom 2K program.

The reading of the meter program and the meter status is carried out by using the safety

algorithm, while the data reading is possible only on the basis of the data reading

procedure, according to IEC1107 mode C.

Page 21: EnerluxTnlib

21

All the reading operations are made by means of Read meter dialog box.

This dialog box is displayed after launching any of the reading command.

Exit button pressing, closes the dialog box.

Meter group contains the data of the current meters list, and also General option referring

to a generic meter not contained in the meters list. In case there is no current list, only

General option is present. Description combo box contains the descriptions of all the

meters from the meters list selected in Opticom 2K program. The selection of the target

meter is made from this running list. If All meters check box is selected, the

programming operation will be successively applied to all the meters on the list. If the

current list is null, the check box is disabled. This communication option shall be used

only when the meters are connected to a communication bus. Serial no editing field

reflects the contents of the current list according to the meter series (used as a

communication address). For general option, this contains General. The alteration of this

field is operative only during the presence of the dialog box, it not being comprised in the

list of the meters used by the program. If Start automatically check box is marked, the

communication process will start at the same time with the launching of the dialog box,

and if Close when communication ends check box is marked, the dialog box closes

automatically, in case there were no errors in the communication process. The status of

these boxes is memorized in dlgs.cfg file. The user can modify the status of these boxes

during the communication process.

Communication section enables the communication operation start and control. The

communication operation starts by pressing Start button. The communication process

can be watched in WR (no. of transmitted characters) field and RD (no. of read

characters) field. Pressing Stop button can interrupt the process. If an error appears

during the communication process, the process ends and the user is warned by an error

message. The dialog box cannot be closed during the communication process.

When the user reads data or reports, the Show Filters button is enabled. Pressing this

button will expand the dialog box, thus enabling the settings of certain filters related with

the amount of read data and the data displayed into the viewing area. The first list is

related with the amount of data delivered by the meter, while the other lists are related to

Page 22: EnerluxTnlib

22

the displayed data. Using each of the four filter sets is activated by checking the

corresponding Use checkbox. A certain filter option become active when it requests

check mark next to it. Using the Select all options will establish the state for all options

of the corresponding filter. Various filter schemes can be defined and saved for further

use. The previous defined schemes appear in the Filter scheme combo-box.

The dialog box can be collapsed by pressing the Hide filters button.

Special readings

Special readings list comprises the types of special readings that may refer to

made by the user.

If Exit button is pressed, the dialog boxes close.

Meter group contains the data of the current meters list, as well as General option

referring to the generic meter that is not comprised in the meters list. If there is no current

list, only General option is present. Description combo-box contains the description of

all the meters from the meters list, selected in Opticom 2K program. The target meter is

selected from this combo box. If All meters check box is selected, all the meters on the

list will be programmed. If the current list is null, the check box is disabled. This

communication option shall be used only when the meters are connected to a

communication bus. Serial no and Password editing fields comprise the contents of the

current list, as far as the meter series (used as communication address) and password are

concerned. As concerns General option, these fields contain General series and NULL

password, or the one established in the reading dialogs behavior.

Page 23: EnerluxTnlib

23

The alteration of these fields can be operated only if the dialog box is present, it not being

contained in the meters list used by the program. If Close when communication ends

checkbox is checked and the current operation is a load profile reading, the dialog box

closes automatically in case there were no errors in the communication process. Creating

the [email protected] file follows a successful reading of the load

profile. This file will be displayed in the viewing area of the Opticom 2K software. The

status of these boxes is memorized in dlgs.cfg file. The user can modify the status of

these boxes during the communication process.

Communication section enables the communication operation startup and control.

Pressing Start button starts the communication. The communication process can be

followed up in WR field (number of transmitted characters) and RD field (number of

read characters). Pressing Stop button can stop the process. An error that appears during

the communication process stops the process and warns the user by error message. The

dialog box cannot be closed during the communication process. At the end of each

successful communication, the result of the communication is saved in the file and it is

presented in Opticom 2K program view, except the reading of the modem programming.

Load profile reading

The load profile reading can be carried out after the following criteria that can be selected

from the combo box End condition:

Time interval; the time interval for the load profile reading is made can be chosen

from the controls Start date and End date.

Meter calibration

The meter calibration is made by writing several numeric coefficients in his internal non-

volatile memory. These coefficients are taking into account in numerical processing made

by the meter measuring circuit. The calibration means the finding of following

coefficients:

• Active power gain, divider factor for active energy meter constant and the scaling

values for the active energy registers of the measuring circuit.

• Reactive power gain, divider factor for reactive energy meter constant and the

scaling values for the active energy registers of the measuring circuit.

• The phase correction coefficient

• The offset for the active power

• The offset for the reactive power

• The gain, offset and scaling factor for RMS voltage

• The offset and scaling factor RMS current

• The gain and the scaling factor for the apparent energy registers.

These coefficients can be determined by comparing the target quantity that corresponds

to the coefficient to be determined with the value of the same quantity supplied by a

standard device. The new coefficient will be determined by applying some computation

formulas to the above-mentioned values and in some cases to the value of the coefficient

that is already present in the meter memory.

The preferred order for the whole calibration process is as follows:

Initializing the calibration

Active power gain calibration

Reactive power gain calibration

Phase calibration

Active power offset calibration (required only for meters with accuracy better

then 1% for active energy)

Reactive power offset calibration (required only for meters with accuracy better

then 1% for reactive energy)

RMS Voltage calibration

RMS Current calibration

Page 40: EnerluxTnlib

40

Apparent energy gain calibration (the same values as for active energy can be

used)

Calibration adjusting (can be interfered between every two steps of the process)

Ending the calibration

The calibration operations are made using the dialog box Meter calibration.

The group General settings and operations has the following controls:

The list of the calibration operations: The selection of a certain operation causes

the changing of the controls in the right side of the dialog according with the selected

operation.

The combo box Meter type enables the selection of meter variant for the meter

that will be subject for the calibration operation. The list is enabled only for the

calibration initialization operation.

The check box Use SPE is enabled if a valid communication port with SPE

generator. Using this option will cause sending an adequate setup command to the SPE

generator before the calibration operation. SPE Set up time edit field enables to set a

time between the SPE generator command and the calibration operation.

Meter group contains data referring to the current meters, as well as General option

referring to a generic meter not included in the meters list. In case there is no current list,

only General option is present. Description combo box contains the description of all the

meters in the meters list selected from Opticom 2K program. The selection of the target

meter is made from this combo box. If All meters checkbox is selected, the programming

operation will be successively applied to all the meters in the list. If the current list is

null, the checkbox is disabled. This communication option shall be used only when the

meters are connected to a communication bus. Serial no and Password editing fields

Page 41: EnerluxTnlib

communication operation starts by pressing Start button. The communication process

can be watched in WR (number of transmitted characters) fields and RD (number of read

characters) fields. Pressing Stop button can stop the process. If an error appears during

the communication process, the latter ends and the user is warned by an error message.

The button SPE Command invokes the SPE command dialog box. The button SPE OFF

is an emergency stop for the signal generator. These last two buttons are enabled only if a

valid communication port with the SPE generator was previously selected.

Every calibration operation has two steps. In the first step is made the calculus for the

calibration coefficient while in the second step the error calculus against the rael value is

made.

For almost every calibration operation, the right side of the dialog box has some common

controls namely:

The combo box Results selection carries the addresses for all calibrated meters.

Selecting a certain meter, will cause that the Results table to be populated with the

calibration results of the selected meter.

The combo box Use enables the selections of the values used for coefficient calculus:

theoretical values or standard instrument indication. These values must be properly filled

in the Calibration conditions table.

The check box Verify only, if checked, causes that only the error calculus to be made.

The check box Skip checking, if checked, causes that only the coefficient calculus to be

made.

Pressing Exit button can leave the dialog box. The box cannot be left during the

communication process.

Page 47: EnerluxTnlib

47

RMS Voltage calibration

The calibration of voltage coefficients is made in two steps: first step for the gain

calibration and the second step for the offset calibration. When the operation is performed

using the SPE generator, the two steps process is transparent for the operator. In the other

cases, the process will be stopped between the two steps, a message to the operator being

also generated. The user must manually change the calibration conditions according to

the data from the Calibration conditions table. The user can also check the option Gain

only, in order to perform only the first step of the calibration process.

The Calibration conditions table is filled with the values of the voltages, currents, phase

angles, frequency for the calibration operations and the values of per phase voltages in

both situations measured with a standard voltmeter.

The Results table is populated after a successful calibration operation with the values of

the voltage registers, the gain and offset coefficients of the voltage, the scaling coefficient

for the voltage, the voltage values for the meter and those measured with the standard

instrument and the calculated error of the meter.

Page 48: EnerluxTnlib

48

RMS current calibration

The calibration of current coefficients is made in two steps: first step for the gain

calibration and the second step for the offset calibration.

The Calibration conditions table is filled with the values of the voltages, currents, phase

angles, frequency for the calibration operations and the values of per phase currents in

both situations measured with a standard voltmeter.

The Results table is populated after a successful calibration operation with the values of

Apparent energy calibration

The apparent energy calibration is made only for gain calibration, the offset of apparent

energy being determined in the same time with the voltage and current offset calibration.

If there are no specific requirements for apparent energy, using the same coefficients for

the apparent energy as for active energy is good enough. The meter constant for apparent

energy is the same as the constant for apparent energy.

The Calibration conditions table is filled with the values of the voltages, currents, phase

angles, frequency for the calibration operations, the constant of apparent energy pulses,

the duration of calibration cycle and the values of apparent power measured with a

standard instrument.

The Results table is populated after a successful calibration operation with the values of

the apparent energy registers, the gain coefficients of the apparent power, the scaling

coefficients for the apparent energy, the power values for the meter and the standard

instrument and the calculated error of the meter.

Calibration adjusting

The Coefficients table contains the values for the calibration coefficients. The radio

buttons Read and Write selects the operation that will be carried out. The action of

Write button will cause the replacement of all the values in the table with the previously

read values or default values. Therefore, the table editing operation must be done only

after this button is pushed.

The Sel Wr button marks with a X the row of the coefficient desired to be wrote in the

meter. The same effect can be obtained by making a double click in the corresponding

cell of the desired coefficient and the WR column. Only the marked rows of the table

will be inscribed into the meter memory. It is not advised to manually change the

following coefficients: WGA, VARGA, VAGA, APCFDEN, VARCFDEN, APCFNUM,

VARCFNUM, Wh/LSB, varh/LSB, VAH/LSB.

Ending the calibration

The Roll Over Values button will cause the calculus for the overflow registers values

The PF coefficient calculation button will cause the calculus for the power factor-

scaling coefficient

The DSP in normal mode button will configure the measuring circuit of the meter in

normal operating mode.

The Save calibration button will retain the calibration area of the meter memory in a

binary file which name will be the same with the meter serial number.
