    Our organisation

    The Energy Saving Trust is an independent, UK-based organisationocused on promoting action by individuals that leads to thereduction o carbon dioxide emissions a key contr ibutor toman-made climate change.

    We are the source o ree advice and inormation or peopleacross the UK looking to save energy, travel sustainably andgenerate renewable energy. We also help people to conservewater and reduce waste.

    We are impartial and not tied to any commercial organisationsnor driven by political or corporate motives.

    We work with like-minded organisations in the public andprivate sector who wish to tackle climate ch ange.

    We have teams based in Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland,whilst in England we have a regional structure. This meanswe deliver UK-wide programmes as well as country-spec icprogrammes in each o the individual nations in the UK. Wehave 21 local advice centres which oer advice t ailored to wherepeople live, the type o home they live in, their circumstances andtheir household budget. We direct people to the right grants, orexample or cavity walls, lot insulation and installing renewableenergy sources.

    We are unded by the UK Government (DECC, DT and BERR),Scottish Government, Welsh Assembly Government, EuropeanCommission and the private sector.

    We dene the technical and other associated requirements to setcertication standards or energy saving products and services.These could include, or example, compliance with industrystandards, quality procedures and technical perormance.

    We commission independent testing to veriy that a broad rangeo products comply with our standards. These requirements relateto dierent areas: or example, energy and water consumption,thermal properties, air quality and CO2 emissions. We use testinglaboratories that are UKAS (United Kingdom Accreditation Service)or Vehicle Certication Agency (VCA) certied, or their equivalentsin other countries.

    We test and evaluate the eectiveness o energy eciency andmicrogeneration technologies in the home not just in simulatedor laboratory situations, which means that consumers buying theproducts know that they will perorm as claimed.

    Each year, the Energy Saving Trust is trusted to providemillions o people in the UK with advice on saving energy,generating renewable energy, conserving water, sustainabletravel and reducing / recycling waste as part o a low-carbon liestyle.

    How?

    We run targeted marketing campaigns on a national, country-

    specic and regional basis.

    We manage local advice centres across the UK providing overone million people a year with advice on how to take action everyyear. Our advice and inormation is tailored to individual needsand to refect the local situation or example, reerring peopleto local suppliers or installers.

    We have the UKs most comprehensive website providingone million people a year with inormation and advice onenergy saving, microgeneration and sustainable travel,with supporting inormation on water conservation andwaste reduction.

    We provide practical coaching and support to communitygroups working on environmental projects.

    With its unique position bridging governments and theprivate sector, the Energy Saving Trust works with a widerange o organisations, companies and local authoritiesaspiring to take steps to save carbon and help meet thegovernments goals.

    We work with local authorities and help them to deliver theirrole in leading their communities to save energy through awealth o resources, presentations, training and inormation.

    We work with commercial (retailer, manuacturer, corporate)and public sector organisations on joint promotional activities tohelp their employees and customers save energy.     The Energy Saving Trust helps trade bodies, builders, plannersand other housing proessionals provide guidance to theirmembers so that they can play their part.

    We help trade bodies to dene product standards and raiseperormance levels on energy eciency.

    We work with trade bodies on building regulations, helpingto dene new standards or sustainable homes.

    We provide ree technical guidance and solutions to help UKhousing proessionals design, build and reurbish to high levelso energy eciency, whether they are involved in designing,speciying, planning, building or installing. These solutionscover all aspects o energy eciency in domestic newbuildand renovation and are made available through the provisiono downloadable guides and case studies, online tools,a dedicated helpline and training seminars.

    The Energy Saving Trust works with and advisesorganisations on how they can reduce their carbonootprint rom transport.

    How?

    We provide organisations with a ree green feet review,delivered by an expert transport consultant, which oersan external review o how the feet is being managed roman environmental perspective. This review looks or ways toreduce feet operating costs a s well as vehicle emissions.

    We oer a ree telephone consultancy service or smallerbusinesses which provides actionable advice to help themreduce their feet operating cos ts as well as vehicle emissions.

    We have useul resources, such as publications and case studiesthat can help you understand more about greener vehicles andecient driving, and how they can benet you r company.

    In Scotland, we provide ree travel plans that help organisationsassess and simpliy their trave l needs and provide measures toreduce travel and the associated carbon impacts.
