It began with a stop at the Kuwait Oasis, where a number of UD engineers delivered a technical presentation to the visiting delegation, a measure that senior KOC officials say helps demonstrate the Company’s interest in preparing, support- ing, and providing young employees with opportunities that will help their develop- ment. The tour also included a visit to the GC-30 construction site, the Effluent Water Treat- ment & Injection Facility, and the Early Production Facility (EPF-120). The most significant area of operation vis- ited was the Heavy Oil Project in South Ratqa, a vital project that extends over an area of 40 square kilometers. The facility has been designed to increase production in North Kuwait in stages to a final target of 270,000 barrels per day. The visit to South Ratqa allowed the vis- iting delegation to view the Production Support Center and Central Production facilities. Manager Major Projects (III) Yaqoub Al-Dashti and TL Major Projects (XII) Faisal Al-Otaibi were responsible for the coordination and supervision of the site visit. In addition to KPC CEO Nizar Al-Adsani, the delegation included Khaled Bou Ham- ra, Mufreh Al-Shammari, Abdul-Majeed Al-Shatti, Essam Al-Marzouq, Wael Al- Asousi, and Esam Al-Osaimi.

45 Lean Six Sigma Projects Receive AwardsHonorary event held under the auspices of KPC & KOC CEOs

Under the auspices and attendance of KPC CEO Nizar Al-Adsani and KOC CEO Jamal Abdul Aziz Jaafar, the Management Support Group, represented by the Quality Assurance & Business Improvement Team, organized an award ceremony for 45 projects that are “Green Belt Champions” which are part of the Lean Six Sigma 2014-2016 program.

The event, which took place at the Regency Hotel, was attended by a number of KOC employees. KOC CEO Jamal Abdul Aziz Jaafar delivered an opening speech in which he upheld the importance of Lean Six Sigma in helping to achieve business excellence towards reaching the strategic objectives of the Company.

DCEO Corporate Services Yousef Ali also delivered a speech in which he pointed out the importance of implementing this methodology in order to discover the best ways to find opportunities to reduce business costs in periods of low oil prices around the globe.

At the conclusion of the event, the KOC CEO presented certificates and awards to the 45 winners.

KOC Acting CEO Abdullah Al-Sumaiti recently honored members of the Production Optimization Steering Committee and Task Force Team, who were responsible for helping raise production capacity to 3 million barrels per day at the beginning of 2016. The Production Optimization Steering Committee and Task Force Team was formed in May of 2015.

As part of their efforts, the team helped raise the production of more than 450 wells throughout all KOC assets since it was established. They began their work by first categorizing well groups that needed technical workovers before setting a priority schedule for the production services program.

The task force then fulfilled its mission according to special standards related to work priority at the wells based on the highest production and least execution time in line with the strategic goals to enhance productivity as soon as possible, while taking into account the technical conservation of oil reservoirs and not depleting them.

The list of honorees included Group Managers, Team Leaders and others, including the following: Saeed Al-Shaheen, Bader Al-Khayat, Bader Al-Saad, Khalaf Al-Enzi, Bader Al-Attar, Ali Al-Saleh, Farida Ali, Mohammad Al-Oqab, Fouad Al-Sheikh, Abdullah Al-Sumait, Nada Al-Misfir, Naif Al-Enzi and Yousef Abdul Rahman.

KOC Holds Information Exhibition at ACKAs part of continuous cooperation between KOC and ACK

Kuwait Oil Company recently conducted its third annual Information Exhibition at the Australian College of Kuwait. The initiative is part of a framework of continuous cooperation between the two parties in the field of training and technology.

KOC Acting Deputy CEO (Admin & Finance) Menahi Al-Enezi and ACK CEO Abdullah Al-Sharhan inaugurated the exhibition in a ceremony that was attended by a number of officials from both sides.

In his opening speech, Al-Enezi upheld KOC’s determination to continue this fruitful cooperation in the future, and he commended the positive results of this cooperation. He also expressed the Company’s desire for future cooperation and KOC’s commitment to supporting students in general and ACK students in particular.

The exhibition featured presentations and explanations provided by specialists from KOC for the students of the Australian College which touched on the Company’s core areas of operation.

The Fields Development Team (MN) recently organized its quarterly workshop for employees in order to evaluate their performance for the first quarter of the 2016/17 fiscal year.

At the event, Team Leader Tahani Al-Rashidi welcomed all the attendees and discussed the purpose of the workshop, which touched on where the Team was in regard to the Company’s 2030 Strategy. Al-Rashidi also said that the aim of the workshop was to see how employees can improve performance in order to reach the required level of production, in addition to following up on the performance of current projects and the best ways to implement them.

She then encouraged all team members to actively participate in the workshop in order to achieve the desired targets. The workshop concluded by setting a plan for the 2nd and 3rd quarters that are in line with the defined targets.

Contractor Emergency Readiness Campaign LaunchedEvent held under the sponsorship of DCEO Yousef Ali

Under the patronage of DCEO Corporate Services Yousef Ali, the HSE (CSD) Team recently held a campaign on “Emergency Readiness” for contractors working with the Corporate Services Directorate.

The campaign was launched as the DCEO delivered safety helmets with emergency information attached to contractor employees. Team Leader HSE (CSD) Sami Al-Kandari then explained the benefits of having emergency information stickers on the helmets to the contractors.

Benefits include easing communications in case of emergency between the site and the Emergency Response Control Unit/other parties dealing with the emergency, thus enabling quick emergency responses and saving lives and assets. Furthermore, this will help the Controlling Teams/Contractors in controlling unauthorized access to project sites.

At the conclusion of the event, the DCEO extended his appreciation for this initiative by the HSE (CSD) Team and said that HSE issues should be regarded with high importance because of their ability to protect human life.

KOC recently participated in the 6th Green Building Conference & Exhibition which was held under the auspices of the Minister of Public Works, Ahmad Al-Jassar, and inaugurated by Kuwait Municipality Director Ahmad Al-Manfouhi.

The opening ceremony and the first working session were attended by Manager Ahmadi Projects Ismail Ahmad and TL Corporate Projects (I) Abdul Rahman Al-Kandari, in addition to a number of employees who were also present at the Company’s booth during the exhibition.

In addition to sponsoring the conference and exhibition, KOC presented two working papers. The first was delivered by TL Corporate Projects (I) Abdul Rahman Al-Kandari and addressed the sustainability of the central chilled water plants. The second paper was presented by Senior Engineer Projects Khaled Al-Mousa and touched on the impact of sustainable technologies in the design of buildings.

The papers referenced the Company’s successful experience with sustainability efforts throughout its areas of operation, and those in attendance expressed their admiration for the achievements of the Company in this context.

MP&TS Holds 2nd HSE QPR Meeting240 million hours without incidents registered

The Major Projects & Technical Services Directorate recently held its HSE Performance Meeting for the second quarter of the 2016/17 fiscal year. The meeting was chaired by DCEO (MP&TS) Esam Al-Houti, with Group Managers and Team Leaders in attendance.

The meeting, organized by the Quality & HSE Team and coordinated by TL Faris Al-Mansouri, reviewed the performance of all departments of the directorate over the second quarter of the current year, in addition to the observations that have been raised in previous meetings and the steps taken as a result of those findings.

Most significantly, the MP&TS Directorate registered 240 million safe man hours with no incidents. Special consideration was given to the efforts that were put forth to make that achievement possible, and it was suggested that more attention be paid to health and safety while at work, and for more field visits to be conducted.

During the meeting, Al-Houti thanked all in attendance for the achievement and issued a number of remarks about the topics that have been discussed. He then suggested subsequent courses of action that should be taken, and he also upheld the need to intensify efforts in order to ensure greater safety, particularly in the areas of operation.

The meeting program included the HSE Moment, presented by Construction Engineer Salah Al-Shatti from the Technical Support Team, who spoke about the importance of being active during the day for the sake of our bodies and health.

The event included feedback from the HSE Management Committee, a review of Major Incidents/Accidents, as well as lessons learned and what kind of action should be taken.

In order to accompany the “Diraya” media campaign related to the 3D seismic survey in Kuwait Bay and the areas surrounding it, the Exploration Group recently held an interactive exhibition at the Avenues Mall that took place over several days. The exhibition aimed to raise awareness among nationals and residents of the seismic survey project as it seeks to identify geological layers.

These types of 3D seismic surveys are considered a cornerstone in understanding the forms and depths of subsurface rocks and layers, which are often referred to as geological data banks that aid KOC in better planning future operations. They also help the Company create plans and strategies that positively influence the future of Kuwait.

Campaign officials appealed to everyone to help cooperate with the Company as it executes the project. In this regard, they asked that all keep a safe distance from equipment and vehicles used in the survey and to abide by health and safety guidelines. They also affirmed that the equipment used is very safe and does not harm human life or the environment.

Exploration Group Holds Exhibition at Avenues MallInitiative created awareness about seismic survey project

The Training Competency Team recently organized an Induction Program for UD engineers, with the participation of 120 trainees who were divided evenly into two groups of 60. They were also joined by 10 engineers from KUFPEC.

The program was held under the supervision of Team Leader Bashar Al-Khashti. Chief Training Officer Abdullah Hussein took over the coordination of the event’s activities.

Experts from Shell delivered lectures at the event which took place over the course of 10 working days. The program covered topics related to drilling operations, drilling equipment, well design, well stimulation, reservoir engineering, artificial lift and other topics related to oil production.

The event was part of an established development plan for employees put forth by the Training & Career Development Group, particularly for new employees, and held by different teams. They usually last for two years and include a number of programs and activities that cover a range of areas.

The Corporate Solutions Team recently organized a briefing session on the eBEAMS Maximo Upgrade project for the eBEAMS Upgrade Task Force, Functional Task Forces and eBEAMS Group Focal Points, with each representing their respective groups at KOC.

Team Leader Corporate Solutions Abdul Salam Malek upheld the importance of the participation of the stakeholders during the project in validating and verifying the new version of eBEAMS, as well as thorough testing to ensure the upgraded version meets KOC’s business requirements.

TPL Senior Specialist (IT) Asim Hussain said that the new version of Maximo has gone through major changes and existing customizations, which means Maximo must be carefully ported to the new release. He further explained the key stages of the upgrade project leading to its production rollout in December of 2017. The participants were also briefed on the roles and responsibilities of the task forces and Group Focal Points.

The representative from the partner company, Praxis Solutions, talked about the new and modified functionalities and features of the new version of Maximo.

The Career Development & Planning Team and experts from the Operations and Maintenance TIU recently held a meeting with ABB Power Systems to discuss the upcoming external attachment training program that will be held in Switzerland for a duration of three months.

The main purpose of the meeting was to discuss the detailed technical scope of the program and the logistics involved in order to guarantee that quality of such training is held to the standards of Kuwait Oil Company.

The same team, in cooperation with representatives from the Operations & Maintenance TIU, have designed and organized three sessions for a specialized training course for a group of 10 Electrical Maintenance Engineers and Technicians per session (30 in total) with Al-Ahleia Switchgear Company. The course was held at Al-Ahleia’s main office in Subhan over a duration of two weeks. The participants received both practical and theoretical training regarding their products and services, especially those supplied to KOC.

In addition, other topics such as earthing procedures, protection and maintenance of switchgears and relays were covered during their training program. Al-Ahleia is considered one of the main suppliers of electrical equipment for KOC, therefore employees need to receive appropriate training to ensure the proper usage of this equipment.

Both events were supervised and managed by the CD&P Team by Chief Training Officer Hana Kamal and Training Officer Laila Behbehani.

The HSE (S&EK) Team recently conducted an informative and interactive awareness session on “Health and Safety at Home & Schools” at Salah Al-Din High School in Zahra. The awareness campaign focused on how students and teachers can keep themselves and their families safe during their normal activities at home and school.

The interactive session between the students and the KOC presenters highlighted the various causes leading to health incidents and appropriate safety measures to minimize preventable injuries.

In a presentation delivered on the occasion, safety procedures for dealing with electricity, gas cylinders, household chemicals and fires were discussed. In addition, reasons for slips, trips and falls were described to participants.

Finally, an awareness presentation on indoor air quality was shared. The school’s administration welcomed the initiative taken by KOC and the HSE (S&EK) Team and thanked them for the HSE awareness program. At the end of the event, gifts and safety flyers were distributed to the participants.

Ahmadi Hospital Organizes Blood Donation Campaign at KUFPECIn collaboration with the Central Blood Bank

Ahmadi Hospital, in collaboration with the Central Blood Bank, recently organized a Blood Donation Campaign and the provision of anti-flu injections for employees from KUFPEC.

The campaign was held at KUFPEC’s main office in Shuwaikh. It was supervised by President of the Health Enhancement Unit at Ahmadi Hospital, Dr. Entesar Al-Hindal, and was attended by a large number of officials and employees from KUFPEC, led by CEO Sheikh Nawaf Saud Al-Nasser Al-Sabah.

The event also included a lecture on blood diseases that was delivered by Specialist Dr. Rana Al-Abdul Razzak.

The event comes within the framework of the numerous campaigns organized by all departments of Ahmadi Hospital, both at KOC or in cooperation with other K-Companies with the aim of promoting public health.
