One of the Chinese white dolphin's favourite habitats is near estuaries. These include waters off north, south and west of Lantau Island, as well as Deep Bay.

New constructions have destroyed natural coast and shallow marine habitat.
Sewage 150,000 cubic meters of raw sewage is dumped into the western harbour area every day.
Over-fishing Dead dolphins have been caught or tangled in fishing nets.
Boat traffic Some Pink dolphins show signs of collisions. Some even are found with propeller cuts!
Pollution Pollution is especially dangerous to dolphins because they are at the top of the food chain.

As the dolphin matures, the blood vessels get closer to the outer layer of grey skin turning it pinkish colour with grey spots. After a period of time, the skins turns fully pink.
