Sahwahdeeka… Greetings and Welcome to Thailand.

It gives me great pleasure to personally invite you to attend the 45th annual Convention of ACAAI which will be held at Hotel Westin Siray Bay and Spa Phuket, Thailand from 21st to 24th November 2019. The Theme of the Convention this year is "END TO END LOGISTICS - THE WAY FORWARD".

This will be the third ACAAI Convention to be held in Thailand, the previous ones being held at Bangkok in 2005 and Chiang Mai in 2006. The beautiful island of Phuket on the Andaman Sea has a lot to offer from alluring natural beauty in the form of breathtaking rainforests,

mountains and spectacular beaches, fascinating cuisines, amazing accommodation with rejuvenating spas and awesome adventure. ACAAI Convention 2019 thus offers delegates this fabulous opportunity to engage in business and pleasure in the midst of the charming cultural and tourist delights of Phuket.

Thailand views India as the gateway to South Asia and beyond. With the reduced tariff rates and new initiatives adopted by both the countries, trade between the two countries has seen signicant increase in recent years. Moreover, India and Thailand have been associated culturally for centuries and the close afnity between the two cultures has only grown with the strengthening of trade. With the polite and friendly Thais as our host and with the availability of good infrastructure and hotels that cater to a diverse array of business and leisure travellers, tourist-friendly Phuket is an ideal location for the 45th annual Convention of ACAAI 2019.

ABOUT THAILAND

Thailand is a Southeast Asian country with coasts on the Andaman Sea and the Gulf of Thailand. It's known for

tropical beaches, opulent royal palaces, ancient ruins and ornate temples displaying gures of Buddha.

Thailand is a constitutional monarchy. It has a King as a head of state. The word "Thai" comes from the ethnic

group in the center of Thailand. The capital city is Bangkok.

Thailand is the only country in Southeast Asia that was not ruled

by Western countries as it served as a buffer zone between

English and French colonies. Thailand borders Myanmar

(Burma) to the northwest, Laos to the northeast, Cambodia to the

southeast and Malaysia to the south.

The kingdom of Thailand attracts more tourists than any other

nation in South East Asia mainly because of its natural beauty,

warm seas and ne beaches, fascinating culture and religion,

martial arts, inspirational temples which are its main draw card.

Loy Krathong Festival Thailand, is a spectacular place where magic and mystery can be found in many places.

In November, this magic ourishes and there is one evening during the month that a truly mystical experience,

can be had. On this particular night, on nearly every expanse of water, be it a river, lake or the ocean, thousands

of lights can be noticed drifting across the water like fairy dreams. Gently ickering, dipping and dancing in the

breeze as they go, making a spectacular sight. This is Loi Krathong, Thailand's 'festival of lights'. Held yearly,

on the evening of the twelfth lunar month, it is the time of year when the waters around the country become

alive with candlelight and look like massive fairy ballrooms.

Thailand also has many islands that are well known and have numerous resorts for tourists. One of the most

famous is Phuket Island. Thailand has a tourist-friendly policy as well as a vast network of infrastructure and

hotels that cater to a diverse array of business and leisure travellers.

ABOUT PHUKET

Phuket is one of the southern provinces of Thailand. It is one of

the oldest cities in Thailand and consists of the island of Phuket,

the country's largest island, and another 32 smaller islands off its

coast. It lies off the west coast of Thailand in the Andaman Sea.

The nearest province to the north is Phang-nga and the nearest

provinces to the east are Phang-nga and Krabi. At 540 square

kilometres, Phuket is about the same size as Singapore. It was an

important port on the west of the Malay Peninsula where Chinese

immigrants rst landed. The old buildings in Phuket town indicate

its former prosperity. They were constructed when tin mining was

important on the island. The architectural style, called "Sino-Portuguese", is European mixed with Chinese

modern. On 13 February 2004 the town was elevated to city status. Phuket City, on Phuket Island, is the capital

of Thailand's Phuket Province. Built in a 1930s manor, the Thai Hua Museum has exhibits on Phuket's culture

and history.

Being a big island, Phuket is surrounded by many magnicent beaches such as Rawai, Patong, Karon, Kamala, Kata Yai, Kata Noi, and Mai Khao. Laem Phromthep Viewpoint is said to feature the most beautiful sunsets in Thailand. Hundreds of islands are accessible to small craft from Phuket, many of them uninhabited, many of them forested and fringed with spectacular coral reefs. It isn't all just beaches though, there is also fantastic classical architecture such as the Goom Restaurant. The very welcome atmosphere and the famous Phuket nightlife is a hotspot for tourists in this island.

Phuket has a large Chinese inuence, so there are many Chinese shrines and Chinese restaurants around the city. A Chinese Vegetarian Festival is held here every year. While the Chinese community is quite big, there are many other ethnicities bringing all their traditions and festivals from all over the world to Phuket.

FOOD & CUISINE

In the past, Phuket was one of Thailand's commercial ports which

traded with other countries. These cultural inuences are reected

in the cuisine and local foods. Phuket cuisine and local food (Baba

Peranakan food) is the combination of many cultural food habits,

whether they be Chinese, Malay or Thai. Some Phuket local food

tastes sweet, such as Chinese Hakka cuisine, but it can also be

spicy, such as in Thai cuisine and Malay cuisine.

CULTURE

The island's long history has shaped the Phuket of the present with

its diverse ethnic groups, culture, architectural inuence, and ne

cuisine. These attributes have made Phuket a complete tourist

destination that offers a lot more beyond its natural heritage of sea,

sand, forest, and world-renowned diving sites. Sino-Portuguese

architecture casts its spell delighting travellers to the city, while

Phuket style of hospitality has never failed to impress visitors from

all walks of life. The major religion is Buddhism. The Buddhist

temples in the city are attractive destinations for national and

international tourists. Along the streets some Hindu temples depicting the statues of Ganesha and Brahma

can also be seen.

CLIMATE

Phuket is hot and humid throughout the year. With a tropical climate, the weather in Phuket broadly varies

between warm, cool and rainy. The climate is characterized by moderately high temperatures that have little

variations throughout the year. Geographically located off the west coast of Southern Thailand in the Andaman

Sea, Phuket has two major seasons: the long hot and rainy season AND the short hot and dry season.

The monsoon season is from April to October. The wet season remains moderately hot with temperatures

going as high as 34°C (93.2°F). Between February and April, the temperatures can go up to 37°C (98.6°F)

making the hottest three months in Phuket. Humidity is moderately high in Phuket across the year. From

November to February Phuket experiences the dry season with minimal rainfall. The high tourist season is from

November to February when it's cool and dry.

Delegate fee includes Registration Fee, Room Tariff for 3 nights (on 21, 22, & 23 November 2019) and Buffet

Breakfast in the hotel. It also includes attendance at all Business Sessions and hosted events/functions listed

in the programme. Fee is inclusive of GST.

The delegates may register for the convention online on our website www.acaai.in. Registration begins from

1st August 2019. Registration will be conrmed / accepted on receipt of full applicable fee either by Cheque /

Important Information on Phuket

Business hours are generally from 9 am to 5 pm, weekdays, plus 9 am to 12 noon on Saturdays, except public

holidays when hours may vary widely. Banking hours are Monday to Friday 9.30 am to 3.30 pm. Currency

exchange booths operate as retail outlets and are usually open 12 hours a day, 7 days a week. Shops and

stores also open from 10 or 11 am to 10 pm, every day.

Delegates arriving prior to 21st November 2019 and staying on or after 24th November 2019 at the Convention

Hotel will have to inform and mention during online registration, as rooms will have to be booked in advance. The

additional charge will be Rs.14,750/- (inclusive of 18% GST) per room per night for SGL/DBL/Sharing room.

LOCAL DELEGATE FEE

The delegate fee for delegates from Phuket not requiring hotel accommodation, shall be USD 300/-(US Dollar Three

Hundred).

CLOSING DATE OF REGISTRATION

Registration to convention will be accepted with immediate effect and the closing date would be 15th October 2019.

CANCELLATIONS

Cancellation done on or before 1st October 2019 shall be subject to deduction of 25% of the delegate fee,

cancellations from 1st October to 15th October 2019 shall be subject to deduction of 50% of the delegate fee. No

refund on cancellation done after 15th October 2019. Cancellation of Hotel room booking is subject to heavy

penalties on ACAAI.

TRANSFERS

Transfer from Airport to Hotel on 21st November 2019 and departure on 24th November 2019 from Hotel to Airport will

be provided only for convenient ights. No individual transfers will be arranged.

AIRLINE AND GOVERNMENT DELEGATES

Delegates from Airlines and other Government Agencies who wish to travel on their respective airlines or arrange

their own travel arrangements shall be charged the same delegate fee as others.

ATTIRE

Inaugural Function: 21st November 2019: 6 pm onwards (Lounge Suit / National Dress)

Business Sessions: 9.30 am onwards (Lounge Suit / Formals)

Cocktails / Dinners: As per Host's invitation

PARTICIPATION

Restricted to members of ACAAI and those invited by the Managing

Committee of ACAAI, Local Registered delegates shall be allowed to

participate.

All Business Sessions and all other ofcial functions including hosted events are for registered delegates and their spouses and for those invited by the ACAAI Managing Committee.

ACAAI does not encourage participation of children below 18 years of age and they will not be allowed to attend any ofcial function including lunches , cocktails and dinners. Kindly note this to avoid any last minute embarrassment.

SPOUSE PROGRAMME (only for spouses of the registered delegates)

Spouses of the registered delegates staying at the Convention hotel shall register for spouse tour at the ACAAI

Registration Desk on 21st November 2019.
