Dear Supporters:

2020 was a monumental year for ASTEP! We took time to reexamine our purpose

and move forward with clear intention. We faced several new challenges, but thanks

to the success of the Sondheim 90th Birthday Celebration event, we were able to

quickly adjust and serve our communities in new ways.

Working to support our community partners, we responded to unique and changing

needs in real time. By transforming our programming to Zoom classes and hand-

delivered Creative Activity Kits, ASTEP brought the arts to 1,413 students. Working

alongside our community partners, we secured food deliveries that fed over 2,500

families in the South Bronx. Our weekly Wellness Wednesdays series hosted on

Facebook brought together professionals of the healing arts and creative arts to

foster wellness in the community. We renewed our commitment to the Black

community through our Changemakers Scholarship, which provided financial support

for two young Black visionaries pursuing higher education.

Though the year was challenging, as a community of artists we knew how to pivot

and adapt. We have been overwhelmed by the compassion and resilience

demonstrated by the ASTEP community this year, and we look ahead proud of what

we were able to accomplish together. Thank you for being an important part of what

we do - we truly would not be here without you.
