After the Recovery: Key After the Recovery: Key FindingsFindingsU.S. Population is Aging
◦ Those age 55 & up increasing at more than twice the rate as those 20-54.
The Economy will Recover and Grow. ◦ From 2008-2018, even with modest estimates, economy
will create 14.6 million new nonfarm payroll jobs.
Given Current Trends (labor force participation, immigration), the U.S. will experience a Labor Shortage.
If Boomers retire at rates of past generations, by 2018 we can expect 5.0-5.7 million jobs going unfilled due to labor shortages.

“Instead of workers jockeying for jobs by enhancing their skills to gain the approval of employers, we may find that employers are forced to find ways to enhance their jobs to attract older workers to fill them.”
