Ephesians 1.1“I, a prisoner in theLord, encourage youto live the kind of lifewhich proves thatGod has called you.”
One of myfriends who is blind has atalking computer he usesto study the Bible. Hehas had few chuckles
over some of the pronunciations. "For a longtime," his computer pronounced Holy Bibleas ’holly bible’ until someone figured outhow to modify it." But there was one thinghe could not change. The computer uses theSpanish pronunciation for Jesus Christ--HEYsus Krist. "The programmer is Hispanic,"My friend said with a smile, "and he madesure that HEYsus Krist cannot be altered." Ilike that. It reminds me that among thethings in life that can be changed to suit mytaste, one remains tamper-resistant. I can-not change Jesus. When life is unsettled, Igain great comfort from the Bible’s affirma-tion that is in Hebrews 13:8, "Jesus Christ isthe same yesterday, today, and forever." Butthe statement is also a stern rebuke to mytendency to try to modify the words andcharacter of Christ when I do not like whatHe says. How easy it is to forget that I cameto Christ longing for Him to transform me,not the other way around! Praise God thatHis Word and His love are perfect andunchanging and praise Him too that in Hislove He is working to change me. Amen!
One of my goals is to move from the wayI think to the way I act. I have written in thepast that your identity will determine youractivity. Let your identity in Christ determineyour activity. In other words live like you
mean it. Live like Christ is your savior andyour Lord. He is not only your maker, butalso your master. I urge you to prove it inyour day to day life and relationships withothers. Live in a way that proves you belongto God. Your lifestyle should be in balancewith what you believe. Your identity shouldbe balanced by your activity. You are calledto a rich life in relationship to God throughJesus Christ. It is not only a call to salvation, but a call to service. A call to something isbigger than us.
If God is a supplier of all your needs doyou live as a steward putting Him first inyour finances, your time, and your abilities? If He is all sufficient do you depend on Himfor your every need? If God is Holy and callsus to be Holy do you live in the world, butyou not of the world? If He is all knowing doyou seek His guidance first? If he came notto serve, but to be a servant is your firstthought for others? If He came to seek andsave that which was lost does the lostness ofyour friends and family grip your heart andmove you to pray and share what Christ didin your life?
Ephesians 4:2-6 says, "Live in a way thatpromotes unity. Part of living a life that is inbalance is living to promote unity. Ephesians4:2 gives character traits that are part of ouractivity as Christians. These traits or quali-ties have to do with our relationship to oth-ers. This is highly appropriate for us as yourepresent Christ and build relationships.Amen!
You have to be humble and gentle.Greek and Roman cultures considered humil-ity and gentleness to be weakness showinglack of self-respect. Even in the OldTestament God desired a different characterfor His children. Isaiah 57:15 says, “TheHigh and Lofty One lives forever, and his
name is holy.” This is what he says: I live ina high and holy place. But I am with thosewho are crushed and humble. I will renewthe spirit of those who are humble and thecourage of those who are crushed. Jesusexpected his disciples then and now to behumble toward each other and serve oneanother. Amen!
Humility is part of our attitude, characteror identity. Gentleness is part of our activity.Gentle people do not have to force their pri-ority or personality on others. This is con-trolled strength. Gentle people do not haveto get their way, but instead pave the way tounity. As long as truth and love are not com-promised gentleness is the principle. Amen!
You have to be patient and loving.Patience or longsuffering is the ability toaccept each other’s faults and failures andnot taking any vengeance for yourselves.Short tempers are fuses that lead to a lot ofblow ups and break ups. Bearing with oneanother carries the idea of empathizing andhaving a willingness to forgive our fellowChrist followers.
The guiding principle to these charactertraits is love. It carries the idea that some-times loving others or seeking their best isnot easy. I once read that “Satan separates,
God unites; and love binds us together. Ifyou identify with Jesus then you operate onlove. Love binds us together and promotesunity in your diversity of thought, gifts anddreams.
If what you are doing in or for the churchis not promoting unity then stop it! There arehuge differences among us. However thereis a huge God who unites us! Ephesians 4:4-6 says, "There is one body and one Spiritjust as you were called in one hope of yourcalling, one Lord, one faith, one baptism, one God and Father of all, who is above all,and through all, and in you all." Amen!
Unity is not automatic. Ephesians 4:3says “Endeavoring to keep the unity of theSpirit in the bond of peace.” The Spirit unitesus in the bonds of peace if we will allow Himto lead us there. Amen!
Here is a story I read in a magazine. Aman called a pastor’s office at a church oneday to inquire into membership in thechurch. He stated that he would not be ableto get involved or anything, but he felt it wasimportant to have some religious affiliation. The pastor advised this man that the churchhe pastored might not be the best fit forhim, but he knew of a place where he would

By: Bettye WilliamsAn anointed message from God does not have to
come from a man of cloth all the time. On Sunday after-noon, at The New Greater St John Primitive BaptistChurch (where Dr. Vincent Davis is the Pastor), JordanBlair delivered that message.
This celebratory occasion was to recognize The NewGreater St John Primitive Baptist Church for purchasingthe note on the building after moving into the buildingjust over one year ago. New Greater St. John has over-come many obstacles to become lenders and not bor-rowers.
The service opened with devotion and old schoolgospel songs; “I Love to Praise Him and We WorshipYou.” Many kind words of welcome were given to all theguests by Sis. Walker. The St. Paul A.M.E. (where Rev.Juan Tolliver is the Pastor), E. L. Wright Male Chorusaccompanied Jordan and they rendered two selectionsbefore the sermon, “Fighting For the Lord and I Don’tBelieve He Brought Me This Far To Leave Me.” Thattouched souls and members were shouting in the isle. And the moment came for Dr. Vincent Davis to introduce
the guest speaker for the hour, Jordan Blair.Dr. Vincent Davis is the Sr. Pastor of the New Greater
St. John Primitive Baptist Church as well as businessmanand entrepreneur. He’s the founder and owner ofVincent’s School of Music. Dr. Davis is a man of manytalents; he’s also a lead singer, soloist, organist and choirdirector, just to name a few.
Jordan has the heart and spirit of an Angel, and thecourage to know that whatever he was about to say, itwould come straight from his heart because it was whatGod laid on his heart. Jordan opened with the song, ”I’mStanding In Your Will.” Jordan spoke on the subject
“Don’t Park There; There Is Work to Be Done”.Many Amen’s, Yes Lords, Hallalula, and Thank You Jesus, were heard by the congregation throughout the mes-sage. He told The New Greater St John Primitive BaptistChurch to “Keep the Faith, continue to support their pas-tor and continue the work of the Lord.” He then lookedat Dr. Vincent Davis and gave him encouragement andwisdom and said “Because he did not park there, because there was still work to be done, and that the

By: Lola SearcyThis week, I asked my Publisher if we could
do something a little different with our series,“On the Block and Making a Difference article.Normally, we highlight Preachers and Pastorswho are making a difference in their church andthe communities where they live and Pastor. This week’s spotlight is not on a Preacher orPastor, instead we chose to shine the spotlighton a gentleman who does not wear the title ofa Preacher or Pastor, but he does have a verysuccessful ministry that he shares with theyouth at his church, Full Gospel Holy Temple,Urban League of Greater Dallas and the CedarHill ISD. His name is Mr. Floyd Williams, Sr. Ibecame a Floyd Williams fan when I met him atthe Urban League of Greater Dallas’ Gala thispast August. The Urban League Gala honorsthose individuals who have contributed theirtime, talents and their financial resources tohelp empower and uplift those who find them-selves needing the services of the Urban Leagueof Greater Dallas. When I read his bio and lis-tened to his remarks on the evening of the gala,I immediately started trying to find his number,so I could share him with our readers. Youwould think with his many responsibilities as theSenior Consultant of Supplier Quality andPerformance with Verizon, his plate would befull. Not, Mr. Williams. He is among those in the
Supply Chain and Logistics sector who assistedin paving the way for increasing Minority andWomen owned business involvement in procure-ment products and services within the commu-nity. Thus, helping establish a viable VerizonBrand and consumer loyalty within the womenand minority community and supplier market-place. Are you still not impressed with Mr.Williams? Then you should know that Mr.Williams is involved with various community, business and education oriented programs like:2009 – Current he serves as the director of theY.L.E.C. Program, a program that teaches Youthages 12 – 17 life skills, avoiding pitfalls, impor-tance of higher learning, college prep & othertraining and education. He is the current LeadCoordinator/Mentor of the Reaching our Youth(R.O.Y.) Program at Lakeridge Elementary inCedar Hill, where they teach leadership, interac-tive, personal goals and achievement skills. Heis a lifetime volunteer and supporter of theUrban League of Greater Dallas (he served onthe Dallas Board of Directors from 2003 – 2008).Since 2000, he has served as the Vice-Presidentof Verizon’s African American EmployeeResource Group.(CITE) From 2000 – 2005 heserved on the Minority Business DevelopmentCouncil, where he served as corporate represen-tative for Verizon on the CertificationCommittee. He currently serves as the Director
of the Junior Brotherhood Mentor Program forboys ages 9 – 17 from single parent homes –helping them to stay on the right path tobecoming great men leaders in society. Hiswork with Verizon and several non-profit organ-izations has garnered him numerous accoladesincluding but not limited to: 2008 and 2009Recognized by the President of Verizon’sFoundation for volunteering in the community;2006 Awarded Verizon’s Regional PresidentsAward for Board Fulfillment at the Dallas UrbanLeague; 2002 and 2007 he was nominated forVerizon Excellence Awards - Individual & Team.In 2001, he was nominated as CorporateAdvocate of the Year by the Dallas/Ft.WorthMinority Business Development Council. Duringmy conversation with Mr. Williams, he spoke ofhow important it is for all of us to give back, especially to those who are less fortunate. Herecalled a conversation with an educator of alighter hue, who wanted to know why youngAfrican American boys and men are so aggres-sive. After offering an explanation, the dooropened to provide a group of African Americanprofessionals to work with him in the school dis-trict to develop the R.O.Y. program.Dr. Beverly Mitchell – Brooks, President of theUrban League of Greater Dallas, said this aboutMr. Williams, “He is not one who whose content-

Let me remind youthat the unselfishprayer warrior is themost qualified one tostand in the gap forothers. Perhaps forthose that don't knowhow to get in touchwith God. However, wemust remember, thatthere are a couple ofingredients that shouldbe included for us toappropriately respond
to the holiness of God. And these ingredi-ents are confession and forgiveness. Youmust be willing to present yourself beforeGod with a pure and undivided heart anda light attitude toward every person, including the Lord God. This prepares onefor effective intercession. You can confessyour sins for hours, but confession is notcomplete unless it is coupled with forgive-ness.

God graciously gave us His Son and said,"Whoever believes in Him shall not perishbut have eternal life" (John 3:16). We are
allowed into an eter-nal relationship withGod because of Hisgrace and arestrongly exhorted tolive each day know-ing our relationshipis maintained by thesame grace, inwhich it began, notby anything we door accomplish.
There are manythings we are called
to do as a Child of God, many ways to serveand honor our Heavenly Father, many waysto be obedient and seek after holiness. Butwe can NEVER fall into the trap of thinking, even for a moment, that what we do addsto our Salvation by grace. As much as faithin Jesus Christ is absolutely necessary forour Salvation, faith in Jesus Christ is alsoabsolutely sufficient.
We show our love for God through wor-ship, thanksgiving, prayer, study, obedience, and faithful service; and we acknowledgeHis saving grace with a humble spirit whichdoes not allow us to become puffed up orfeel deserving of our Salvation. We demon-strate our love for others as we refuse tocause harm, in word or deed, refuse to har-bor unforgiveness, and actively look foropportunities to serve. And we show anunderstanding of God's grace as we expressour love to others without requiring them toearn our love or even love us in return.
Let's receive His grace with a thankfulheart, knowing we bring nothing to thecross besides our sin which He then takesaway. Let's trust only in His grace, given tous through faith, and express our faith withall our heart, soul, mind, and strength as welove Him and love one another. Let's beginto live this life like we truly understand Hisamazing grace.

On Sunday morning, the gentle-men followed the directions and pulled upinto the yard of a dilapidated building. Theroof was falling in, the doors were locked, and vines were growing into the windows. This gentleman called the pastor and toldhim that he had given him the wrong direc-tions. "Oh no," the pastor replied. "Not atall.” That is the place. That church has amembership roll filled with people who didnot want to get involved or committed. Thatis what will always happen to a churchwhose members are interested in religionnot relationship." Amen!
Use your resources and skills for thebuilding up of a church body. Have youfound a place of service? There is a place forall of you to serve. That is the purpose ofteaching that the truth will be planted inyour heart and that love will work it out inyour life.
When you attend church you are notthere to be entertained, but to experiencethe rich life of Christ and be transformed inorder to serve. Pastors are not called to beyour professional Christian. They are calledto equip you with the tools to live a life thatis growing. Now you know why you shouldlive like God is your co-pilot. Amen!

“ B A C K Y A R D S P O T L I G H T ”Hailing from the East Texas hills of
Hallsville, Texas, one of the nation’s pre-mier traditional Rhythm & Blues artist,“Louis James Butler” has truly taken hismark as one of the best of all times. Withhis roots grounded in the down homeblues we all know and love, He has blos-somed into one of the most versatile musi-cians in the world. From Top/Pop 40 & jazzto new school R&B, he has entertainedsome of the most diverse crowds all overthe United States and abroad. He is ahighly skilled guitarist, whose abilityeludes the barrier lines drawn betweenvarious genres of music. He has masteredsome of the most unique techniques andpatterns throughout the music spectrum, which are exhibited on his first upcomingdouble CD titled “Jammin’ with LOUISJAMES BUTLER Vol. 1”, set to release inthe second quarter of 2010. He was intro-duced to music at the beginning of hischildhood through his parents. Heavilyinfluenced by his father’s collections ofrecords, and his mother’s roots in the
Church, He began his admiration of musicat an early age. The youngest of 10 chil-dren, he started playing the bass guitarand gradually moved to the traditional 6-string guitar by the time he was an ado-lescent. After performing with numeroussmall bands and groups as a teenager, hedecided to dedicate more time to his craftduring his stint at Wiley College, where hejoined the Rufus Anderson All-Stars. Thisensemble allowed him to learn the skills
and ability to lead and direct a band. After completing college, he moved
to Dallas, Texas where he began to makehis mark on the Blues scene with the cre-ation of his own band: The Cool ShowBand. For more than 30+ years The CoolShow Band evolved with various membersduring this time providing a unique soundand performance that thrilled the Dallasfan base to whom they catered. TheJames Butler Cool Show Band initiallystarted with the traditional 4 memberrhythm section, and has blossomed into afull scale concert band featuring a 3-mem-ber horn section, two guitarists, a bassist, keyboard player, and drummer. He hasgraced the stages of many of the popularRhythm and Blues acts throughout thenation and abroad. He has opened showsfor the likes of legends such as Bobby“Blue” Bland, Marvin Sease, VernonGarrett, Lucky Peterson, and most notablythe late great R&B crooner Johnnie Taylor, whom he toured with for more than 5years as the concert band’s rhythm and
lead guitarist. Early in the millennium Mr. Butler
branched out even more on his own, byestablishing a music production companywith the assistance of his musically-inclined daughter and corporate-mindedson: A. J.B. KOOL PRODUCTIONS. LouisJames Butler a.k.a. “The Child-SupportMan” started at KNON 89.3 in 2002 as aboard operator, and then slowly transi-tioned into a radio talk personality afterjoining forces with one of the country’snationally known Rhythm & Blues Radiotalk-show host: Cousin Lenny Henderson. For more than 5 years, Mr. Butler co-host-ed on various shows while operating thestations audio and music equipment. Hehas also had the opportunity to have asong retired (“HAPPY BIRTHDAY DR.KING) into the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.Historic Center archives. These accom-plishments and many more are why LouisJames Butler will be a force to be reck-oned with in the entertainment industryfor years to come.

A f r i c a nAmericans havenever been themajority race inDallas, yet most ofthe high schools inthe city are in theSouthern sector.Down through theyears I’ve writtenplenty of articles on
how that’s divided the talent in this city andtaken away school spirit, and self esteem.
I want go into that right now, but let meexplain how that has killed two athleticGiants in our neighborhood.
Before I go any farther, for those of youwho are naïve enough to think sports has nobearing on education and self esteem, checkwith Notre Dame, Stanford, Miami, etc. Just
to name a few. All private schools with a fewexceptions are mostly religious, let’s not for-get TCU.
Any way all the school buildings in thesouthern sector are beginning to weighheavy on the budget, and the pride of thecommunity.
David W. Carter once a nationally recog-nized football power and a very proud pro-gram, has dropped from 5a to 4a and are 0-4 in the won lost column. Carter was one ofonly two predominately African Americanschools to win a 5A football title champi-onship. Jack Yates in Houston is the otherone, and they won two.
I’ve mentioned hundreds of times if schoolbuildings educated students they would havehad 10 schools in Plano, Highland Park,Odessa, etc. before they had one in OakCliff. How many did they have before inte-
gration? They had two in Dallas, three inHouston, and in 1956 they gave Dallas athird – James Madison. That was a hand medown.
Once they found out they had to playsports against these guys, then High schoolsstarted popping up everywhere in the blackneighborhood. Who in their right mind wouldwant to play Booker T. Washington, orLincoln with only two Schools in Dallas? InHouston Jack Yates had upward s of 5,700students every year, no one wanted to playthem but a Booker T, Lincoln, or PhyllisWheatley in Houston. Every now and thenMoore high in Waco, and the two schools inBeaumont, that’s another story for anotherday.
Carter is not the only victim. Roosevelt isnow 3A and they are 1-4 in win column. Some of these schools don’t have enough
students to pay the light bill. And some genius decided to match these
kids against the schools in Florida. Thisshould have been done when Carter, Kimball,SOC, Velt, Lincoln, Madison etc. were having18 Division One players each year. Theywaited until they added A. Maceo Smith,Molina, and watered the product down.
Today they have 8 schools in Oak Cliffalone and those 8 schools have 18 footballwins after 5 weeks. That’s a bigger travestythan the demise of Motown. Then we havetown hall meetings and discussions with thePresident, and everyone else about thedropout rate. You have to get these kids selfesteem back. Give them something to beproud of. A band with 10 members and afootball team with 28 players, and tell themlets go play Allen. Allen has almost 600 inthe band. Give me a break.

Good to see for-mer K104 funny womanNanette Lee back in herstand up comedy groove!Nanette's featured onFriday and Saturday night,9P.M. in the "ComedyNight at the Muse" series. That's inside the ClarenceMuse Theater, DallasConvention Center! Sad tosee that another K104stalwart, the man who

The Cowboys are off thisweekend, ugggg! Th news out of Cowboycamp is that wide receiver Roy Williams, final-ly got a bit of good natured, although expen-sive payback from fellow wideout Dez Bryant!Remember the little mini drama in trainingcamp, between the two? Dez refused to carryRoy's pads after a workout session. That's justpart of the price NFL rookies pay as initiation.
Roy and Dez squashedthe beef, but Roy andother veterans let himknow that he wouldhave to pick up a mealfor his offensive team-mates later. That hap-pened Sunday afterthe Cowboys win overthe Houston Texans atPappas Steakhouse!Dez was prepared to
treat the offense, but Roy also invited thedefense for dinner! Final cost before tip????How does a cool 55,000, thats 5-5 Thousanddollars sound? It would have been a lotcheaper to just carry tha pads, lol. Big ups toDez personal manager and dalls strongmanDavid Well's who put everything into perspec-tive, saying,"They got the young man, but ifnot, he would have been washing dishes for amonth"! Bryant signed a 12 Million Dollar con-tract, 8.5 Million guaranteed... He can affordit! Good luck to all the Cowboys... We believein YOU! Congrats to Laila Ali and husbandCurtis Gordon Jr. The happy couple is expect-ing their second child. Laila says her dad, box-ing all time great Muhammad Ali is an excel-lent Gand Parent who loves to kiss his grandsall the time! From the I' Can't Say" depart-ment: Bishop Eddie Long???? When Lohangoes back for a hearing on 10/22, expectsome jail time for her own good! ome of youmay be familiar with Compass airlines, but weare not. This is probably why they can’t affordto pay their flight attendants enough. I usedto think that flight attendants, even thoughthey worked hard were paid...and had itmade... readon on...Earlier this month, a flightattendant by the name of Kirsten Arianejadwas fired for publicly revealing that she is eli-gible for food stamps. If you’re not able tofeed your family and you’re excited you canget stamps to help out, what are you going todo? Kirsten, maybe theres a spot for you withthe NEW SOUTHWEST AIRLINES! In case yahave not heard, Southwest is purchasingAirtran Airlines... What does that mean forDFW residents? How about cheaper domestic
and internationalflights. For example,when Ryan Air gavecompetition toAmerican and oth-ers locally, a trip tomontego bay wouldcost 225.00 aflight... With no realc o m p e t i t i o n ,American gets 500dollars or more forthe same 10A-2P

Dear Dr. Hollie,Are you serious? Icouldn’t help but writ-ing to you to ask youabout your column thisweek, the “CheatedCheater”. How can youactually read that per-son’s letter, then giveadvice, and not haveanything to say abouther wrongdoing? Iknow she didn’t ask youabout her situation, butdidn’t you feel com-pelled to tell her about herself. Sheis wrong on so many levels. Nowshe wants to be mad because herhusband is playing around on her? That’s what she gets. What goesaround comes around. Then sheactually had the nerve to put intowriting that she hasn’t admitted toan affair that he confronted herabout like he is still wrong forbelieving someone over her. She didit! She’s guilty! She has no remorse,
and you didn’t evenbother to put her in herplace. Well let me helpyou: Lady, you’re wrongand you deserved allthat you got! Seriously?!?
Dear Seriously,You are so right about“Cheated Cheater” is wrongand you are also right thatshe didn’t ask me foradvice about her wrongdo-ing. That’s exactly why I
didn’t address it and as it appears she isvery much in denial and is not willing toaccept responsibility. I appreciate youwriting, as well as the many others whoare wanting to make sure she knows howwrong she is. So, let me say it -she iswrong.

Saturday’s Prairie View- Grambling game(had to say Prairie View first, my boss is anAlum) capped off a weekend of entertainment, festivities and fun. It all began with the PrairieView Grambling VIP reception held at the CityClub located at 901 Main Street Suite 6900inside the Bank of America Plaza Building. TheCity Club was filled with hundreds of PrairieView and Grambling alums and some of themost famous and recognizable faces in theProfessional Football arena. Mr. Everson Walls, former All-Pro Cornerback for the DallasCowboys and the New York Giants and Mr.Doug Williams, the first African AmericanQuarterback to win a Super Bowl championshipand Super Bowl XXII Most Valuable Player andAll-Pro Dallas Cowboys Defensive End and 3XPro- Bowler, Ed “Too Tall” Jones. Mr. Walls ,who is a Grambling Alumni, was on hand togreet the crowd and to promote his book, enti-tled “A Gift for Ron”, which chronicles the storyof his relationship with his former teammateand friend Ron Springs and the decision hemade to donate a kidney to Ron. Mr. Williams, also Grambling Alum, brought his Super BowlMVP trophy he earned in Super Bowl XXII,while playing Quarterback with the Washington
Redskins in1988. Mr.Jones wasflanked byfans wantingto take pic-tures withhim as theyjoked, “Is Ed“Too TallJones” tootall, referenc-ing therecent GEICO commercial Mr. Jones stars in.Mr. Willis Johnson of Soul 73 KKDA served asthe Master of Ceremony for the program spon-sored in part by McDonalds and The UnitedStates Navy. The fun continued with an 8o’clock tee time at the Country View Golf coursein Lancaster, Texas. Friday evening, The BishopArts District was the place to be for somesmooth sounding jazz with jazz greats EricDarius and Jeff Golub. Saturday morning theHigh School Battle of the Bands took place atLancaster High School’s Beverly HumphreyStadium. Those in attendance were treated tosome high-steppin’ hand clapping, beats bysome of the most talented bands in the NorthTexas area with David W. Carter High Schooltaking home the High School Battle of the
Bands top honors. Amid the rain and darkweather, Singer/songwriter Mario took the MainStage on the grounds of the State Fair andswooned the ladies brave enough to weatherthe afternoon rain. The pre-game show kickedoff at 4:00 p.m. And then, the moment of truth. The answer to the question Prairie View andGrambling fans have been asking since lastyear. Who would be the last man standing? 20unanswered points in the second half endedwhat spectators had hoped would be the startof Coach Henry Frazier’s and the Prairie ViewPanthers’ claim to fame again as the Championsof the Annual State Fair Classic. What startedout as a fight to the finish ended, withGrambling bringing home another State FairClassic title. Prairie View’s offense benefitedfrom a blocked punt and the Panther’s first
score of the night came when Brady Faggardsent a 29 yard field goal through the uprights, giving the Panthers an early 3-0 lead over theTigers. A 42-yard run by GSU’s Kenneth Batistegave the Tigers excellent scoring position andfreshman Quarterback Anthony Carrothers tookit in from 11-yards out to give the Tigers a 7-3lead. The second half came to a close with theGrambling Tigers leading the Panthers by ascore of 14-10.
The Panthers wasted no time scoring in thethird quarter when kick returner MichaelBenson opened the half with a 51 yard run tothe Grambling 46 yard line. After a 20-yard runby Fullback Devon Brown, the Panthers’Quarterback K.J. Black found a wide openShaun Stephens in corner of the end zone andKyle Matthews’ PAT was good and the Pantherswent ahead 17- 14. Grambling State marched70 yards in six plays to go ahead by a score of20-17. And with 4:21 left in the 4th quarter, thelong arm of Carrothers hooked up with WideReceivers Kiare Thompson for a 59 yard strike, and a blocked field goal attempt by Grambling, and Grambling’s Cornelius Walker iced thegame with a 66-yard touchdown run. ThePanthers of Prairie View totaled 316 total yardsoffensively, while Grambling State had a com-bined total of 448. The “Last Man Standing”?Grambling State Tigers by a score of 34-17.

Church was like small Oaks that had growninto Big Trees.”
At the end of the service, the congrega-tion listened to Dr. Vincent Davis as hetouched our hearts as he sang “To God BeThe Glory For The Things He Has Done.”
It was time to end the program, but notbefore we heard touching words from JordanBlair’s father, Mr. William “Bill” Blair thatbrought tears from his eyes as he spoke onhow wise and courageous Jordan was as achild at 3 years old and the great man he hasbecome today. He also spoke on how hisLegend will live on through Jordan Blair.
Before the closing, Jordan gave his lastwords to the congregation. Jordan asked thateveryone stand to their feet, take a step tothe right, than a step to the left, and to sit
back down.” He then looked at the congrega-tion and said,” When you leave here today, you can’t say that I didn’t say something tomove you.” Everyone laughed out loud withjoy. But that was Jordan Blair… that is who heis. It wouldn’t have been a success if he had-n’t been himself and real, which is who JordanBlair is to me.
In my opinion, you do not have to be aBishop, Rev., Dr., Pastor or any of those greattitles, man, woman, adult or child, to knowthe Lord, Love The Lord, Know His Word, LiveThe Word, and know how to bring a messageof knowledge and wisdom to others from Godthat you can share and give to others.
Jordan would like to thank all his familyand friends who came out to show love andsupport; and to those who could not come, but was there for him in Spirit.
