Business Process Description Overview
Long Term Planning allows you to simulate demand (sales forecast) to see a) what new kinds of capacityrequirements are created, b) new planned material requirements for lower level assemblies andcomponents. If you are happy with the results of the simulated planned orders, you can make themoperational. In long-term planning, various versions of the master plan are created which are eachtested, in simulative mode, in the planning run and in capacity planning. The system thus calculates thecapacity requirements, the activity category requirements of the cost centers, and the purchased partsrequirements.
When the planning run is completed the evaluation function enables the MRP controller to process therequirements and make informed decisions to convert planned orders to purchase requisitions thustriggering the purchasing department to proceed with acquiring the materials. The MRP controller usesthe display function to review both MRP lists and stock requirements list to analyze the requirements anddecide on a course of action Stock requirements use dynamic stocking levels.
