Welcome

Welcome to Homburg Academy, a new approach to real estate education, with a long

history of real estate experience.

The Homburg Group is a multi-billion dollar real estate conglomerate operating

in the Baltic States, Canada, Germany, the Netherlands, Switzerland, and the USA.

Founded more than 40 years ago, the Group is involved in a wide range of real estate

activities, including asset management, new construction and development, real estate

investment, property management, real estate finance, and insurance.

We also have a passionate interest in building intellectual capital. Since

2008, the Homburg Global Education Project has been researching and

developing cutting-edge university-level programs, and building two new

academic institutions to deliver specialized real estate education around

the world. Our two institutions are the Homburg Academy Switzerland,

which grants degrees and other qualifications, and the Homburg

Institute Canada, which concentrates on professional development and

research.

The goal of Homburg Academy is to combine our experience and knowledge with

that of the top academics and industry experts from around the world. And instead of

a bricks and mortar university, our structured programs reach students in innovative

ways by means of a cutting-edge online learning environment, summer schools, and

study semesters at partner university campuses.

Our world-class real estate programs, which lead to Masters degrees and Diploma

and Certificate qualifications, combine academic excellence, immediate professional

application and an unparalleled student experience.

Read on and discover the many advantages of joining the Homburg Academy. We

welcome diversity in student backgrounds and experience, and we encourage

applicants from across the globe to join our programs.

The Homburg Executive Master in Real Estate and Finance (Online)The Executive Master in Real Estate and Finance is intended for those who have over three years

of professional experience in a cognate field. This program is tailored to harness and enhance a

manager’s existing skills through an integrative approach to learning. This is done through structured

delivery in the classroom, group work, case studies, and independent research and presentations.

This program enables students to study online for the Executive Master in Real Estate with

concentration in Real Estate Finance. This provides students with a solid grounding in Real Estate, and

six Specialist Courses in Real Estate Finance, including Corporate Finance, Real Estate Finance, Real

Estate Accounting, Risk and Portfolio Management, Capital Markets, and the Appraisal of Real Estate.

This specialisation in Real Estate Finance is intended to enable students to strategise finance options

for projects and for the real estate firm, and to use financial information in reaching management

decisions.

Program Structure

The Executive Master in Real Estate and Finance is made up of 15 courses (20 credits each) for a total

of 300 credits consisting of 3,000 notional hours of study (See the Academic Regulations for complete

degree requirements).

The program structure is the same as the Executive Master in Real Estate program and is made up

of two stages, the Coursework Stage (Stage 1) and the Research Stage (Stage 2). On satisfactory

completion of the coursework, students progress to the final independent project.

Courses

The Coursework for this program contains the same Core Courses as the Executive Master in Real

Estate, but also includes required Specialist Courses in Real Estate Finance.

Like the Executive Master in Real Estate, students in this program do not have to take the research

training-oriented courses, however they may elect to do so. In place of these, students take an

additional two Elective courses of their choice.

In the Research Stage, Executive students write a Final Project in place of the Dissertation. This Final

Project is more practically-oriented, and provides an opportunity for each student to undertake

a sustained piece of academic work independently on a subject of their choice, under Faculty

supervision.
