January 2013 CCU is ringing in the 2013 new year with a colorful advertising campaign designed to celebrate the 60th Anniversary of serving our members. It’s hard to believe just sixty short years ago, in 1953, ten Brevard County teachers gathered together in a little schoolroom in Titusville and formed the Brevard County Teachers’ Credit Union. Eight of these individuals signed the Certificate of Organization, and subscribed to one $5 share in the credit union for a total of $40. Now, within the last three years, we have changed our name to Community Credit Union to be more inclusive, grown to more than $400 million in assets, and have almost 35,000 members. That’s why, when looking back in time for inspiration for our 60th Anniversary Celebration, we found several culturally memorable songs and messages to launch CCU’s new campaign. With events like Bank Transfer Day in 2011 bringing more and more members into our cooperative, we want to highlight the 60s to showcase the idea of how people started the Credit Union Movement. Our mission is to “Always improve the financial well-being of our members and make a positive difference in the community.” CCU empowers our members in every financial situation and every season. It’s about helping our community, one member at a time. Some of you may be familiar with the memorable 60s musical tunes from “Hair” (Let the Sun Shine In) and The Fifth Dimension (Age of Aquarius) where “Peace will guide the planets and love will steer the stars,” as well as the Beatles (It’s All Right) songs. These songs represent – Freedom, Flower Power, and Patriotism. That’s why we have added some red white and blue flowers with stars and stripes to our look. Our wave logo is also sporting a new look with a sun shining in the background to let the sun shine in. We have also added the People Power message with the slogan Giving Back. Lifting Up. Empowering You. Throughout the years, from those original ten Brevard county Teachers, to today’s almost 35,000 members, CCU has maintained its strong financial stability and brand promises. We have proven that the convenience and service provided under a cooperative, member–owned and market driven philosophy has resulted in the most safe, secure and successful means of providing financial services to you, our members. Our mission is to “Always improve the financial well-being of our members and make a positive difference in the community.”

For your protection, CCU has enabled you to use an alternate ID instead of your account number to access your online account. You will no longer use your account number to sign in your account and you will choose a new name that meets the requirement to mask you real account number.Members will be asked to create an ALTERNATE ID (Alt ID) to protect your account number. For example: Account number 10000 would be changed to an Alt ID of - mymoney01). This will be an Alt ID that you choose to MASK the identity of your real account number. In anticipation of the upgrade, we have already enhanced the “My Profile” section to provide you the ability to change your username now so you will not have to do it later. Here is how to do it:In the “User Options” section on the gray bar underneath the CCU logo in the eBranch, you will choose the “Change Member Number” to change your account number by linking it to a

If the new username is already in use by another member, an error message informing you that the username is not available will be displayed. Upon a successful change in username, we will send you an email notification informing you about the change at the email address saved within online banking (if one exists).

Transfer your high rate credit card balances to a CCU VISA

Like many consumers, you may have financed part of your holiday spending on a credit card. If you did, you may be wondering how you are going to pay down that debt quickly, especially if you have a high interest rate credit card. Well, now is the perfect time to transfer your credit card balances to a CCU VISA. We are extending our balance transfer rate of as low as 4.99% APR¹ into 2013! So how do you do it? Just contact us by either stopping by one of our seven branches, call us, or apply online at www.ccuFlorida.org. Once you are approved, tell us who you want to pay off, give us the information needed, and we will do the rest for you. As mentioned, rates for balance transfers are as low as 4.99% APR and will be effective for 12 billing cycles. The CCU VISA also has other great features: no annual fee, no balance transfer fees, and a fixed rate for one year. If you still carry a balance on your balance transfers after the year is up, the interest rates will change to our current VISA rates, which range between 10.99% - 17.99% APR.So get rid of all of those annoying credit card bills you receive and consolidate to one card - the CCU VISA and reap the benefits with a lower interest rate. Apply now!¹Introductory balance transfer APR is based on credit history, card terms and borrower qualifications.   Existing CCU credit card balances do not qualify. Contact CCU to determine your rate. Rates subject to change.

If you have been experiencing problems logging into your online account at CCU, you may need to look a little closer at the computer or device you are using. It might be time to upgrade your browser. The average desktop personal computer has a functional lifespan of roughly between three and five years. Over time, users will tend to notice that their systems just aren’t as fast as they used to be, they don’t have enough space to store files, or they don’t meet the requirements of the latest software. When this happens, you have the option of either upgrading or replacing your personal computer. The problem is that with so many components, the cost of upgrades can quickly outpace the cost of replacement. If your computer is five years or older, you may want to think about purchasing a new one with more data resources and power. It is imperative that you are maintaining your computer by updating your browser. In order to deliver a visually rich experience while still making the experience flexible and accessible, you will need to update your computer with the latest browser requirements for CCU:• Microsoft Internet Explorer (IE) 8 & 9 (No support for Internet Explorer 7 and earlier versions). Windows XP users will be presented IE 8 and Windows Vista and Windows 7 users will be presented with IE 9.• Mozilla Firefox (No support for Firefox version 3 and earlier versions)• Google Chrome (Chrome includes automatic updates)• Apple Safari

Other browsers such as Opera have not been tested, so you may encounter issues if you use this browser. If CCU detects an older browser version, we will present a message that you are using an outdated browser and should update to a more modern browser. You will then be prompted with options to download Internet Explorer 8 or 9, Firefox or Chrome. As always we are here to help you. If you have questions about your browser, contact us, or you can even search out answers in our FAQs on the front page of www.ccuFlorida.org.

CCU had the pleasure of spending time with some cute and furry friends recently at the Central Brevard Humane Society in Cocoa. CCU contributed to the Canine Commandos program which is a program for gifted students from Indialantic Elementary along with 19 other schools. The Commandos’ goal is to help get dogs adopted into good homes and to spread the

word to other schools so they can join the fun too. They spend time with the dogs training them basic obedience commands. You can find out more information or make a donation to Canine Commandos at www.caninecommandos.com, as well as to the Central Brevard Humane Society at crittersavers.com.

Time to upgrade your computerand your internet browsers!

¹The HomeFree Mortgage offers both a no closing cost loan as well as a lower rate option which does include closing costs. Loan rates are based on credit history, loan terms, and borrower qualifications. Contact CCU to determine your rate.

Please consider adopting your new pet at a shelter like the Central Brevard Humane Society. They have a variety of cats, dogs, kittens, puppies, birds, rabbits, ferrets, and other small animals that are looking for their new “forever” home with loving and caring individuals. CBHS also has a “Low Cost” Spay/Neuter & Wellness Clinic and are doing their part to end pet overpopula-tion by offering low cost spay and neuter service to the public.
