    for about 240 years.

    Prince Jayavarman IILeader of Khimer Empireunited Cambodia. He led the Khmer Empire from 900-1200. The

    empires territory expanded as a result of the collapse of nearbykingdoms.

    the kingdoms founder succeeded because he discovered

    irrigation thereby increasing agricultural production10kings succeeded him.

    The kingdom ended in 1300 as a result of the weakleadership of the heirs to the throne.

    Two kingdoms were then founded Ava and Toungoo.

    Founder: Chao PhrayaHe found Thailand when he seized Sukhotai from the

    Khmer empire.

    Two other states were created:Chieng Mai in 13th CenturyAyuthia in the 14th Century

    Le Loi, a hero of the battle between the Chineseand the Vietnamese, became Vietnams king.

    When he assumed the leader ship ofLe Dynasty,he changed the name of the empire from Au Namto Dai Viet and pushed for agrarian reform. Hisdynasty ruled from 1418 and ended in 1788because it was eventually overthrown by

    amother Vietnamese empire.

    In 1200 AD, this kingdom was established byKing Kertenagara in Java. It ruled the entireisland of Java.

    Its power and influence were acknowledged inSumatra, Moluccas, eastern Malaysia, andsouthern Borneo.

    The Singosari kingdom lost power in 1292.

    -With the collapse of Srivijaya and Khmer in1300, many other settlements emerged in South

    East Asia. Historians claim that it was during thisperiod that settlements, which the Europeansfound when they arrived in the 16th Century,were formed.

    -Many free communities were already

    established in Southeast Asia when theEuropeans arrived in the region. These

    communities were activelyestablishingtraderelations with one another.
