Emotional Intelligence . In the dance of feeling and thought, the emotional faculty guides our moment-to-moment decisions, working hand in hand with the rational mind, enabling or disabling thought itself. The thinking brain plays an executive role in this mix of emotions and rationality except on those moments when emotions surge out of control and emotional brain runs rampant. We have two types of intelligence, rational and emotional, which cannot work at its best without each other. Therefore, when both these partners work well, emotional intelligence rises, as does the intellectual ability. Thus, to use emotions intelligently means to strike an optimum balance between feelings and thoughts, which harmonises head and the heart. However, this can only be achieved if you know your own feelings and those of others. People with high emotional intelligence are able to experience their feelings fully as they happen and they truly get to know themselves. High emotional intelligence keeps the line of communication wide open between the amygdala and the neo-cortex thus endowing these people with companion empathy, adaptability and self control. Emotional intelligence brings their inner world into focus.

Emotional Intelligence . In the dance of feeling and thought, the

emotional faculty guides our moment-to-moment decisions, working hand in hand

with the rational mind, enabling or disabling thought itself. The thinking brain

plays an executive role in this mix of emotions and rationality except on those moments when emotions surge out of control and emotional brain runs rampant.

We have two types of intelligence, rational and emotional, which cannot work at

its best without each other. Therefore, when both these partners work well,

emotional intelligence rises, as does the intellectual ability. Thus, to use emotions

intelligently means to strike an optimum balance between feelings and thoughts,

which harmonises head and the heart. However, this can only be achieved if you

know your own feelings and those of others. People with high emotional

intelligence are able to experience their feelings fully as they happen and they

truly get to know themselves. High emotional intelligence keeps the line of

communication wide open between the amygdala and the neo-cortex thus

endowing these people with companion empathy, adaptability and self control.

Emotional intelligence brings their inner world into focus.
