My magazine is released every 2 weeks; therefore I will be using a 2 week production plan.

The release date for the first issue of my magazine is October 11th 2015, the reason I chose this date is because it is just after the end of summer and just towards the start of autumn. Therefore, the target audience will be looking for fashion inspiration for the new season. Also, it is starting to get colder outside at this time of year so people will be staying inside more instead of going outside meaning they will have more time to read magazines and will be more interested in buying them as they need something to do indoors.

Frontline is a distribution company that I could use to distribute my magazine. They have a wide range of connections with many retail stores all over the world which means they would be able to distribute my magazine anywhere I wanted and to a wide range of stores. Frontline is the UK’s leading magazine sales and distribution company, therefore it has many popular and successful magazine’s under its

name such as Take a Break, Closer, Heat and CBeebies magazine.

Production Process:

Date of publication: This is the date when you are going to release your finished magazine to the public. This is the date all the other processes have to be completed by. This needs to be decided.

Managing the schedule: You must plan for all the necessary processes to take place and be completed by the date of publication, you must also plan for any mistakes or unplanned issues that may occur so that if they do occur you can still get it done by the deadline.

Editorial and Budgetary decision: This is when the editorial team of the magazine decide and organize what stories and topics are going to be put into the upcoming magazine. Then the team decides how the money they have is spent to produce the magazine.

Content Acquisition: This is when the content for the magazine is found and written, this includes stories and images. Also, a lot of research is done into the content at this stage.

Sub-editing: The sub-editor of the magazine has the role of checking the accuracy of things such as the facts, spelling and grammar and punctuation. Also, they make sure the articles all follow the house style and they work on the page layout. If the magazine does not have a sub-editor then the editor does this.

Page Layout: In big publications there is a specific team who are responsible for organising and designing the page layout.

Proofreading: The editorial team will print out a hard copy of the magazine and proof read the whole magazine checking for any errors.

File emailed to printer: The company first prints a few copies and sends them to the publications editor for checking and the final approval. After this has been completed the printing company then prints the requested amount of copies.

Distribution: When the magazines are shipped to a warehouse and then sold to the public.
