Building Asset Inventory & Sustainable Maintenance Practices999999999999999999999999999999999999999 This project aims to connect energy efficiency with supporting a facility department’s maintenance of complex green building systems. The focus is creating a resource for facilities workers with accessible and accurate facility data, enabling efficiency in both maintenance and energy use, institutionalizing a culture of sustainability in building operation and providing a low capital investment way to decrease energy use in built systems. 1. Providing a resource for facilities operators on campus, merging sustainability and campus operation for a deep green measure. 2. Identifying methods to achieve 5%E20% energy savings without significant capital investment. 3. Complete Greenhouse Gas Inventory for SCJCD to inform the districts Climate Action Plan Charts to the right show carbon and nitrogen breakdowns for the 2018E’19 fiscal year. a. Findings: There are a lot of opportunities to increase energy efficiency and reduce energy use that can be realized by building energy analysis (shown to the left) b. Challenges: finding building documentation, formatting the inventory in a way useful for facilities, c. Next Steps: 1. Continue to add additional buildings to asset inventory 2. Collaborate with facilities to enact effective, sustainable maintenance practices 3. Use greenhouse gas inventory data to complete the districts Climate Action Plan Emma Hibbard, 2019E2020 Climate Corps Fellow Emma Hibbard graduated with a BS in Physics from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst. She is interested in mitigating climate change in an equitable way and hopes to pursue a masters at the intersection of climate and energy technology and policy within the coming year. The greenhouse gas inventory requires coordination across multiple departments campus to compile the complete data.
