The Journey

“As Emit prepared to start his mission, he charged into his office preparing everything he would need for his mission. His sonic pencil and his note taking screen. He then ran into his super speed time traveler and put the chip that Ssob Etad Rekees gave him into the slot. Llatiwonk pressed a few buttons and off they went into the artificially made worm hole, back in time, to the land of Ancient Egypt.”

The Arrival

“As Emit and Llatiwonk arrived in Egypt’s capital city of Nekhen, he realised that they had probably gone too far back in time and they were in the Archaic period (3100-2750BC). He couldn’t see any pyramids where they had landed. Llatiwonk told him that the Archaic period did not have any pyramids yet. Emit was very disappointed. Suddenly Llatiwonk came up with a good suggestion and suggested that they go a few years forward to see some pyramids. Emit thought it was a great idea and off they went into the pyramid age, past the Old Kingdom, 420 years later.”

The New Found Information

“Emit and Llatiwonk finally touched down into Memphis and they saw a magnificent giant pyramid in the middle of construction. It was about halfway built and they saw many people doing hard labour. Many ships were sailing onto the river banks and surprisingly there weren’t any slaves working on the pyramid, just peasants and carpenters. Emit quickly jotted down a few notes and they hurried in their invisibility suits, closer to the site.”

Close To The Pyramid

“As Emit and Llatiwonk walked closer to the pyramid they saw the fertile Black Land of the shores of the Nile River, the longest river on Earth. Emit said that he had seen something about black land while reading an ancient book by the humans, back somewhere in the year 2010. Luckily their suits had temperature control because the readings said that it was exactly 45.20385822947 degrees outside. Just on their other side, they saw a hot sandy desert. They proceeded into the dark pyramid.”

Inside The Pyramid

“Emit and Llatiwonk slowly walked inside the pyramid. The Pharaoh's chamber had already been finished and they explored the empty chamber. Emit spotted some carvings on the wall, where there were pictures of the pharaoh doing great things. Emit scanned the pictures and saved them onto his note taking screen. Suddenly, Llatiwonk heard noises and they ran to the corner of the pyramid and saw a group of men come into the chamber with some golden objects.”

The Plot

“As Emit and Llatiwonk used their translators to take in the conversation between the men, they overheard one man telling the others about a secret storage area in the pyramid and when they were going to take the gold. One of the men looked like an official so this didn’t sound like good news. Emit and Llatiwonk quickly moved back outside after recording the information. They went back to their ship to examine what they had retrieved so far.”

The Decision

“As Emit and Llatiwonk approached the Super Speed Time Traveler, Emit suggested that they go forward in time to find the tomb robbers but Llatiwonk told him they would miss out on many events such as the funeral of the pharaoh. They finally decided to go into the future to find the tomb robbers and see what they did first before examining the information. So Llatiwonk pushed some buttons and off they went into the future.”

The Robbery

“As Emit and Llatiwonk landed in front of the pyramid, they watched as the robbers crept into the pyramid in the dead of the night. Emit found it exciting and scary at the same time. He watched as they wedged open the stone door and moved along quietly into the pyramid. Emit and Llatiwonk followed them quietly and saw them take out many objects of gold from a small hole hidden under the coffin. The men quietly crept out and ran into the night.”

Trading“In the morning, Emit and

Llatiwonk went to the village, after recording the things Emit had seen, into Llatiwonk’s memory files. They saw the robbers from the night before in a tent selling the gold for food and other valuables. They then looked across the barren desert and saw that the water level had risen. They also saw a lot of farmers working on a building that looked a lot like a temple. Emit took some more notes and off they went.”

Farmers“As Emit and Llatiwonk looked around the town they saw a farm with nobody on it. Llatiwonk told Emit that every year when the Nile flooded, a few peasants and farmers would be sent to work on public buildings, such as the temple from before. When the water level decreased again, the farmers would plant the seeds into the fertile “black land” after ploughing it with the help of some animals such as ox. When the water level decreased even more, the farmers would harvest the crops with tools such as sickles. Emit stared at the farm in wonder for a few seconds and then they left.”

The Pharaoh?

“Llatiwonk and Emit went into a building that looked very busy, with many people trying to see what was going on inside. Llatiwonk told Emit that the pharaoh had made a new law that the people were to be treated equally, with the exception of slaves. Emit asked who the pharaoh was and Llatiwonk told him that the pharaoh was the king of Egypt. He was the one that ruled Egypt and would be put into a pyramid when he died. Emit and Llatiwonk went closer into the crowd.”

Wow, a scribe“When Emit and Llatiwonk moved

in closer, Emit saw the pharaoh, but the pharaoh didn’t look very old like the kings in the stories he had read about English kings. He saw a person writing extremely fast with a brush as the pharaoh spoke. Llatiwonk told him that the person was a scribe. They had to record the words of the important people during public meetings and were skillfully trained to be able to write quickly.”

Journey Home

“Emit Repoons had learnt many things on his mission to Ancient Egypt and he wanted to come again sometime. He learnt about the Nile, Pharaohs and farming.

Finally, it was the end of his journey and he felt that he had done enough. Now it was back to boring old desk work again. Llatiwonk inserted the chip into the slot and they returned to report to Ssob Etad Redees on what they had found.”

ConclusionsI consider the way of

farming to be the most unusual and inspiring feature of the Ancient Egyptian Society.

I think that my alien culture can learn to become more artistic from these strange and ancient people.

I would not to copy their way of keeping slaves in my distant world.
