“Our son... has recently been assessed as a Visual Spatial Learner and probably a Twice Exceptional (2e) child. This follows earlier diagnosis of
anxiety/depression, a sensory processing disorder and mood dysregulation. He is a complex, creative and compassionate young man.
“His current (non-government) school principal advised us last week that his classroom teacher and welfare support coordinator can not continue to manage [his] learning and
sometimes challenging behaviours.
“This leaves us little option but to start searching for a more appropriate and supportive school environment.”

This is despite increased school funding
Funding in the Australian school education sector increased by 41% between 1995 and 2006
(OECD 2007). However between 2000 and 2006, Australian student performance has stagnated in
mathematics and significantly declined inreading (Thompson & De Bortoli 2008).
