Emergency Services Training at Excelsior Springs Area Career Center
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS…
How long is the course?
The course is approximately 18 to 24 months depending
on individual completion of clinical and field internship
requirements. There will be approximately 500 clock
hours of in classroom/lab hours plus clinical and field
time. You can expect up to 1300 total clock hours to
complete the course.
What days does the class meet?
Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6:00 p.m. until 10:00 p.m.
and selected Saturdays from 8:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m.
Classes begin on January 14, 2016. Hospital and ambu-
lance clinical hours are scheduled and completed outside
the regular class times. Attendance is critical for success.
What are the requirements to take this course?
The following qualifications apply:
Must be 18 years of age at time of testing
Have a valid EMT license
Must have high school diploma or GED
Must have a valid drivers license
Pass an entrance exam as applicable for math and
English competency
Is this course accredited?
This course is accredited by the Missouri Bureau of EMS
and is approved under Letter of Review with CoAEMSP/
CAAHEP. (see explanation to the left panel of this brochure)
How much does the course cost?
Tuition for the course is $5300.
$1200 non-refundable deposit at time of enrollment
(applied to tuition or refunded if not accepted into

Ready for an exciting and challenging career as a para-medic? EMT professionals continue advanced educa-tion and skills training to perform pre-hospital treat-ment for medical emergencies. This paramedic course includes classroom hours, laboratory, clinical and field/internship activities which will total approximately 1300 clock hours and includes anatomy and physiology. This course meets or exceeds the content and compe-tency demands of the U.S. Dept. of Transportation-National Highway Traffic Safety Administration and the Bureau of Medical Services of Missouri. Upon success-ful completion of this paramedic course, students will be eligible to test with National Registry of EMT (NREMT) for licensure.
