Our consultants worked with Nethergate special school in Nottingham to support the staff in establishing a new culture of e-confidence. Consultants were involved in a wide range of activities to help the school move forward:

Example - Cost Model One - £1,500

A school is seeking to develop its e-safety policies and procedures.

Aninitialplanningmeetingidentifiesthatstaffandstudentinputisimportanttotheschool,andastrategyisagreed.

Day oneisspentworkingwithstudentrepresentativestodevelopideasforanacceptableusepolicyfollowedbyastaffmeetingtoraiseawarenessofe-safetyissuesandshareopinions.

Duringday two,theconsultantpresentsaseriesofassemblieswiththestudentsandmeetswithdepartmentalgroups.

Theconsultantpreparespoliciesandproceduresoff-sitebasedonstaffandstudentinput.

Onday three,thereisasecondstaffmeetingandahand-overmeetingwithSLTtosignoffandsignposttoextrasupportandresources.

Outcome: School establishes effective e-safety policies and procedures which has active buy-in from staff and students.

Example - Cost Model Two - £2,750

A school has invested heavily in interactive whiteboards, visualisers and voting systems and wants to maximise the impact of its investment.

Theinitialplanningmeetingidentifiesthatpreviouseffortsat‘wholestafftraining’havebeenunsuccessful,soafaculty-basedmodelisagreed.

Days one and two-Consultantsmeetwithindividualfacultyheadstoauditstaffrequirements.Consultantsthenattendfacultymeetingstodiscussroutestoprogress.

Days three to five-Facultybasedtrainingsessionsaredelivered,withexistingstaffskillssharedandrecognised.Videohelpguidesareuploadedforstaffuseontothelearningplatform.Telephoneande-mailsupportarrangementsarepublicisedtostaff.

Day six-Progressisevaluatedandsupportarrangementsadjustedasrequired.Surgeriesforindividualstaff.Handoverdocumentwithrecommendations.

Outcome: Evaluation shows increasingly confident use of new technology in the classroom and improved student engagement.

Example - Cost Model Three - £450.00 per day

A group of schools are seeking to develop a range of international links to enrich their curriculum opportunities for students.

Theplanningmeetingwithaspecialistconsultantidentifiesthattheuseofinternettechnologies,learningplatformcollaborationandmultimediawillenhancethequalityoftheirprojects.

Ahighprofilestaffdevelopmentdayisorganised,involvingalargenumberofstaffacrosstheschools.Acircusofactivitiesareprovided,including:-

-Anoverviewofsuccessfulinternationaldimensionprojects

-Usingvideoanddigitalphotographytotellthestoryofyour school

-Collaboratingwithlearningplatformsandvideoconferencing

-Sharinginformationsafely

-Planningyourinternationaldimensionproject

Supportgroupsareestablishedfortherangeofprojects,andconsultantsguidetheirdevelopmentandprogresswithpracticaltraininginputagainstanagreedbudgetofdays.

Outcome: The school achieves International School status and the quality of learning and teaching is enhanced.

Example - Maximising the benefits of EMELC training

A school identifies a diverse range of training needs for individual staff that, if achieved, will impact positively on the quality of teaching.

TheschoolsubscribetothetrainingeventaccesspackagefromEMELC.Staffareaskedtoidentifyeventsandcoursesrelevanttotheirprofessionaldevelopmentobjectives.Tominimisedisruptiontotheschooldaythemajorityofeventsbookedare‘twilight’.

Thecostperpersonpereventismuchlowerthancomparablecommercialrates,orfor‘one-off ’trainingevents.Staffalsotakeadvantageofthee-mailandtelephonefacilityforon-goingsupport.Arangeofbite-size‘how-to’videosandsupportmaterialsareuploadedtotheschool’slearningplatformandviewedasrequired.

Outcome: Classroom confidence in the use of technology is enhanced so that teaching quality and opportunities for learning are improved.
