@HROToday #HROTEMEA HRO TODAY FORUM EMEA [3]

WELCOME

Welcome to the 2016 HRO Today Forum EMEA. There is an ancient Chinese curse that

begins with the words, “may you live in interesting times.” In the past year, the world of

commerce and the human resources profession have been buffeted by unprecedented

political events. These events add to the current challenges of demographic changes, a

redefinition of the relationship between employer and employee, and a hornets’ nest of

overlapping technologies—all advancing, it would seem, in different directions!

If your head is spinning, we hope to offer a few days of respite in Edinburgh to

make new friends, discuss best practices, get some perspective, and have a little fun.

Our programme begins with the HRO Today CHRO Leader of the Year, EMEA, which is designed to help HR

professionals recognise one another. HRO Today is proud to be a pre-eminent proponent of recognition of the

practice of HR. We also celebrate the top leaders in talent acquisition at a lunch programme that promises to

shine a bright and positive light on one of the most challenging areas of HR.

We have a fast-paced agenda that includes presentations from senior HR leaders, thought leaders, and

top-rated provider executives, whom will share knowledge, research and data. They will address difficult

topics, such as the impact of Brexit on recruiting, engaging millennials, and succession planning and mobility

throughout global companies operating in the European Union and United Kingdom.

Thoughtful networking sessions and best-practice-sharing discussions will be during the days, and then we will

go on the night of the ninth to Edinburgh Castle to be welcomed by pipers, view the Crown Jewels, and dance

the night away to the rhythms of a pipe and drum band.

We have the best agenda, audience, and preparation in the history of the HRO Today Forum, EMEA, and we

hope you enjoy the event as much as we enjoyed planning for your arrival and participation. Welcome!

Elliot H. Clark, CEO, SharedXpertise

Chairman, HRO Today Forum

[4] HRO TODAY FORUM EMEA @HROToday #HROTEMEA

On behalf of the HRO Today Services and Technology Association and the entire SharedXpertise team, we warmly welcome you to the annual HRO Today Forum EMEA.

This year’s theme is The Talent Cloud - The Convergence of HR and Technology. Despite technology disruption that has roiled much of global business, the need to attract, retain, protect and serve employees has insulated companies. But change is also washing over how we do business – and sending ripples across the HR industry. As you will learn from our speakers, panels and sessions, a rising cohort of tech-learning and enabled leaders are rethinking creative models and rethinking business. The finalists in our iTalent competition are not surprisingly a part of this movement. They are investing in this vision of the future. So is HR being shaken by the tech-invasion? The answer is yes.

Throughout the next several days, we will be exploring the highest standards of human resources in the management and support of services, technologies and overall HR functions. The HRO Today Services & Technology Association is also responding to the needs of our members and enabling technology to help us better manage social media, online networking, on-demand learning and virtual opportunities to engage.

Thought Leadership Councils (TLCs), exploring and discussing topics within talent acquisition, talent management, employee relations and services, and outsourcing continue to draw a great line up of speakers, thought leaders and attendees. Our new committee structure empowers our members to help drive and get deeply involved in how the association responds to industry needs, sets standards and practices and enhances our user experience. Topics from many of the monthly TLCs and member discussions will be showcased throughout the event, in plenary tracks, best-practice-sharing sessions, panels, and conversations. While the next several days at the HRO Today Forum will provide an excellent opportunity for our members and each of the Forum delegates to participate in great conversations and best-practice sharing, the association allows you to continue these actions daily. Are you interested in opportunities to engage in networking with HR and business leaders and experts across the globe? Is online learning helpful to your organisation and teams? Can the opportunity to engage in thought leadership and industry recognition help your employees and organisation? The answers: Yes, yes, yes. If you are not already a member of the HRO Today Association, I urge you to become one and keep the conversation and learning active every month.

As business people, we like asking questions. It can help clarify choices and allow us to focus on what really matters. But in an age of flux, paradox is ascendant. Success will come from embracing the convergence of HR and technology, and adapting to whatever happens. This has always been the “business plan” for successful business leaders, who take what opportunities appear and run with them. More and more, we will all have to learn to run this way.

These are edge-of-your-seat times. Our keynote speaker, Dean van Leeuwen, from Tomorrow Today Global, is one of my favourite speakers and futurists. He will get you thinking about things you might not have even imagined possible yet. We have put a focus on technology within HR as this year’s theme. Technology is an industry that has been disrupted many times before – by the creation of an ATS, the rise of social media in recruiting and marketing, video interviewing, the launch of the CRM and so much more – and has always managed to remake itself, even when the critics were most skeptical. So how will it work out this time? Who will be the superheroes and villains, and what will the next technology twist reveal? Sit back and enjoy the show. We’re all living it. We might as well enjoy watching it, too.

I am delighted to be welcoming you to what promises to be a highly educational, collaborative, and successful conference in the beautiful, brilliant and breathtaking city of Edinburgh!

WELCOME

The Answer is YES

AGENDA - TUESDAY, 8 NOVEMBER - PLENARY SESSIONS

TIME SESSION

14:30 – 15:00 The Holy Grail of Global Payroll – How Microsoft found it – Melville Room

In 2013, Microsoft and Accenture set off on a journey to streamline, enhance controls, and standardise Microsoft’s payroll around the world. Microsoft had already consolidated from 50 payroll providers to only three core providers. They also realised that far greater value could be obtained if they could also standardise payroll administration, inquiry management and enhance the control environment. Come to this session to see how Microsoft and Accenture partnered to establish a consistent, global payroll experience. Not only did they eliminate the headaches of payroll administration and virtually eliminate errors, but they also gave Microsoft unprecedented flexibility, oversight, and visibility into the performance of their overall payroll function.

Victor Garcia Munoz, Global Payroll Senior Director, Microsoft Victor has been with Microsoft for 15 years, where he has earned both the Best EMEA Region Controller award and Microsoft’s Circle of Excellence award. Prior to Microsoft, he held financial management and leadership roles within wine and spirits company Allied Domecq and personal products giant Procter & Gamble.

15:00 – 15:30 How HR Can Build a Vision on Applying Disruptive Technology – Melville Room

The session describes a case study at Alliander, a leading Dutch energy network company with 6,500 employees. HR initiated a research programme to investigate the possibilities for using robotics as a means to make the work of technicians safer and unburden them from dull tasks like paperwork, inspections, and safety supervising. HR facilitated a multidisciplinary taskforce and interviewed 150 technicians in order to assess their needs. The outcome resulted in an innovative social robotics programme.

Francesco Gentiluomo, Vice President of HR, Alliander Francesco is the vice president of human resources at Liandon, the R&D center and high tension power service provider of Alliander. Prior to this position, he held senior-level HR roles at Etam Group (ladies fashion retailer) and Harman Consumer International (infotainment). As an executive consultant he helped Rabobank, Eureko and Tata Steel Europe to create the necessary competencies required for future market conditions.

15:45 – 16:15 Challenging the AI Revolution in HR – Melville Room

Never more so in history has technology supported the day to day lives of so many. It is often the ultimate tool for driving greater efficiency, visibility and control in everything we do. Despite its unquestionable benefits to business and indeed the world of HR, experts are now forecasting that technology may supersede the user and render many professionals obsolete. Whilst we think this is the extreme, we will look at who should be driving who in HR. We examine the role technology plays in some of the core areas of talent acquisition and and ask the question: human, or machine?

Tim Jones, Global Head of RPO and Partner Consultancy, Lumesse Tim has worked with outsourcing customers of Lumesse for the past 11 years. He’s a recruitment technology geek—enjoying the satisfaction customers receive when they bring order to complexity and automate previously labour intensive services. Previously working in corporate recruiting setting up shared services teams, Tim now works with Lumesse’s RPO and MSP customers to ensure that Lumesse technology is well deployed and is meeting its ROI. He lives and works in the UK.

12:35 – 12:45 Learning Transformation: The View is Worth the Climb – Edinburgh Suite

As companies refocus on growth, reinvention, and workforce readiness, it is critically important that we talk about the business imperative for learning transformation. According to Bersin by Deloitte, “Recent research indicates that, while learning and development has never been as important, faith of the organisation in the L&D function to deliver value has also never been so low. This disconnect has prompted businesses, and particularly, L&D leaders, to take a hard look at the L&D organisation, evaluating its current function and performance, in an effort to transform it into a competitive advantage.” This session will offer up a “transformation framework” and set of “must-dos” for transformation. In the end, you will hopefully conclude that the view is worth the climb.

14:00 – 14:45 Tomorrow’s World Today: Competing in the Age of Quests – Edinburgh Suite

“Tomorrow’s World Today” explores the key trends changing and shaping the world right now. It reveals a framework based on research of how leaders on a quest are gaining competitive advantage by finding solutions for some of the world’s most pressing problems. This keynote presentation reveals three qualities of progressive leaders and shows how each one of us regardless of level or position can do their big bit or small bit to deliver meaning in a changing world.

Dean van Leeuwen, Futurist and Keynote Speaker, Tomorrow Today Global Dean believes that every business and every leader from all types of organisations across all levels can achieve remarkable things in the 21st century. Sadly, most organisations are falling well short of their full potential in terms of productivity, fulfillment and competitiveness, so he has embarked on a journey to work with and inspire leaders and organisations to DO remarkable things. Dean believes that together we can contribute to making the 21st century the most amazing and remarkable era. “It’s never been easier for anyone anywhere to make a difference to the world they touch. The power of social media, the democratisation of information and unparallelled access to disruptive and mobile technology means that each one of us can do our big bit or small bit to fix what is wrong in the world,” says Dean. His belief and drive to build a better working world involves constantly challenging conventional thinking, exploring and researching new ideas and developing the latest thought-provoking leadership and strategic frameworks. These frameworks have been delivered for over ten years in more than 30 countries, to senior leaders from some of the most admired organisations across multiple industries and functions, to improve; individual and team productivity and to increase personal fulfilment and enhanced competitiveness.

14:45 – 15:30 Talent Acquisition Leadership Panel – Edinburgh Suite

Is this anything more important to the success of an organisation than its talent? Arguably no. Learn from the leaders responsible for the increasingly important task of executing people-related initiatives: what works, what doesn’t, and what’s necessary to keep the top performers of tomorrow. Gain valuable insight from the talent acquisition leadership panel.

Tara Benton, Head of Resourcing UK, Vodafone Tara is an experienced HR professional with over 15 years’ experience in talent acquisition successfully leading large scale resourcing operations within complex environments. Tara has worked in both large and small scale organisations in the public and private sector, originally starting her career as a head-hunter. Tara is passionate about customer experience, EVP and digital recruitment, and utilising next generation technology to innovate, excite and engage.

Suzannah Kwok, Head of Executive Search, UK Government, Cabinet’s Office Over the last 16 years Suzannah has built a successful career in recruitment and project management. She initially trained as a lawyer before joining Michael Page in 2001, where she developed the Legal recruitment brand in Manchester. Suzannah successfully grew the market and exceeded all targets, billing over £1 million in revenue. To build on her recruitment skills, she was relocated to London by the business and moved into executive search, where she headhunted and worked strategically with partners in law firms and accountancy firms. Suzannah also took on the exciting challenge of project managing Chinese New Year in Trafalgar Square. This was a three-year consultancy programme which enabled her to hone her change and project management skills, delivering the event within budget year on year, increasing footfall by 100 percent to 500,000 and raising over £1 million in corporate sponsorship and funding.

Mark E. Smith, Head of EMEA Recruitment, Caterpillar Mark Smith, head of EMEA recruitment at Caterpillar, has led the company’s talent acquisition team since 2012, and created a new vision of the programme—one that is an important part of the business strategy. He helped with the implementation of a new applicant tracking system that has made the hiring process more effective and streamlined, while focusing the team on the essential qualities of customer service.

Jo Sullivan, Head of People, Guide Dogs for the Blind As head of people at Guide Dogs for the Blind, Jo Sullivan is heavily involved with not only talent acquisition, but ensuring that the 1,400 employees and 13,000 volunteers are diverse, engaged, and successful. She operates various people functions, including human resources, volunteering, and business partnering, and she has created a single, innovative people strategy that the company utilises. This strategy allows the organisation to shift from being primarily service delivery focused to a people- and customer-centric service. Under Jo’s leadership, Guide Dogs introduced many new initiatives, including a pay progression programme, flexible benefits operation, and a new self-service HR system. These efforts led to the reduction in caseloads, which then allowed the organisation to have time to empower managers through training, as the people-related services were restructured and brought together. Diversity and inclusion are of the utmost importance to her. She led the charge in improving the retention of employees with disabilities via diversity workshops and localised diversity action plans.

Arne-Christian van der Tang, Senior Vice President, HR, TomTom Arne-Christian van der Tang is senior vice president of group human resources at TomTom. Passionate about people, innovation and agile working, he takes an entrepreneurial approach to HR. 16:25 – 16:55 HRO Today Research Showcase – Edinburgh Suite

Which Factors are Blocking HR Innovation? New research shows how would-be HR innovators get blindsided—and become ‘non-novators.’ What is non-novation and why does it matter? Non-novation is a term we coined that means “not innovating.” Or rather, it means not innovating even while desiring innovation. AMS, together with HRO Today Magazine, conducted quantitative research in 2016 to provide insight into this area. In part one of this two-part series, we examined where HR looks for information on innovation and what impedes innovation. Those findings will be presented in this session.

The Quality of Hire Continuum Measuring quality of hire is often seen as the holy grail of recruitment, but it’s an area that many recruitment providers shy away from. Even the term ‘quality of hire’ is becoming increasingly ambiguous. In truth, its meaning varies from company to company and role to role, but as talent acquisition leaders, we are routinely called upon to define and measure this metric for our organisations. Research from Cielo has shown that quality of hire is currently the highest priority for business stakeholders at every level. Join Andrew Manning, senior vice president at Cielo, as he shares his experience of the many aspects of quality of hire and provides practical insight into how organisations are approaching this impactful metric. Andrew will provide real-life examples of how to implement a quality of hire measurement that is appropriate for your organisation.

Jerry Collier, Global Innovation Practice Director, Alexander Mann Solutions Jerry leads the global innovation practice at Alexander Mann Solutions, the team responsible for solution design, product development and experimenting with new ideas at the frontier of our market. Jerry’s practice observes frontier ideas, experiments with these, then exploits the very best ones—bringing new products and services to our clients that transform the way organisations attract and retain great talent; making innovation relevant, meaningful and fun! Jerry’s career with AMS began in 1997, direct from the British Army where he served 10 years. He holds a 2:1 BSc honours degree in mathematics and engineering from Nottingham University in the UK. Joining Alexander Mann Solutions the day after meeting the founder and CEO Rosaleen Blair in 1997, Jerry reflects on that meeting: ‘Rosaleen had such energy and a clear vision back then, this combined with a relentless pursuit to build something special was intoxicating ...and it still is’.

Andrew Manning, Senior Vice President, Cielo Andrew is one of Cielo’s global client partners and he takes a lead on ensuring that new clients receive a service that is tailored to their specific needs. Andrew has over 12 years experience in the RPO industry, eight of them with Cielo. Andrew is experienced in designing, selling, implementing and leading complex RPO solutions for an international client base.

According to the latest CIPD Outlook Survey, innovation is seen as one of the top five challenges, but there is a clear discrepancy between what business leaders think they need and what HR is offering. Simply put, HR is not seen as up to the mark. Research currently being carried out by the Edinburgh Institute is examining how in global organisations innovation is presenting itself as a business requirement, the role of employees in the innovation process and the impact HR is having in contributing to workplace innovation. This session will present initial findings from the research and explore with the audience questions such as what are:

• Sources of organisational innovation? • The enablers and barriers to organisational innovation through people? • How important is technology in the idea creation/dissemination process? • The HR policies and practices that encourage innovation (and those that appear less relevant)? • The challenges in the implementation of approaches to workplace innovation, including communication and employee engagement? • The sorts of roles HR can have in supporting workplace innovation?
