CULINARY CORNER

National Soup Month is JanuaryOf course, January is whenSOUP is celebrated! What is better than a bowlof hot, nourishing soup forlunch or dinner on a cold,or snowy winter day? Youhave probably alreadythought of your favorite soup while reading the first sen‐tence. Chili, beef vegetable, chicken noodle soup or toma‐to soup with a grilled cheese sandwich makes an easy, filling meal.

A traditional Swiss soup is Roasted Flour Soup. It was once said that a girl from Basel could not marry un‐til she knew how to make roasted flour soup. At its mostbasic, it is simply flour, butter, onion and beef stock, topped with a reserved grating of Gruyere. Delicious?

You can call the concierge desk 859-282-1328, oremail at florenceconcierge@MSFlorence. You can alsoinform the concierge at the front desk. The meal pricesare increasing January 1. Breakfast is now $7.00; lunch$9.00; and dinner is $12.00. We take checks, or charge tothe apartment and by February a credit card is to be accepted.

January brings us more daylight which makes us feel lesslike moles. Unfortunately January typically brings to uscolds and the flu. A reminder to avoid visiting family ifyou are ill with a cold or flu. The CDC suggests we coughor sneeze into the crease of our elbow area to prevent spread of cough or sneeze droplets.
