From: David McCampbell [mailto:[email protected]] Sent: Monday, May 13, 2013 6:50 PMTo: District BoardCc:Bcc:Subject: Non-Paid Active Key Clubs Leaders, We have learned the following from Key Club International. According to Shane’s last dues report to you, there appears to be the below 17 clubs that we think are active (that is, there were members in the club this year) but they have not paid any dues to Key Club International.  I want all of you to understand the consequences to a member of one of these clubs and maybe you can communicate this to their officers and/or advisors.  Besides the below list, there are a handful of schools that claim to have Key Clubs but the clubs do not have a charter and they do not pay dues.  The following applies to them as well. For current seniors or future seniors who apply to college and claim to have been members of Key Club during 2012-2013:  Many colleges and all military academies send reports to Key Club International requesting confirmation that an applicant to their college was in fact a member of Key Club.  If dues and their names have not been submitted, the colleges will be told that they were not members.  These colleges will deny admission to these students and the students may never know the reason. For former students applying for jobs:  Certain employers, including some US government agencies, will ask Key Club International to verify that the applicant was a member of Key Club during the time they claim to have been.  They will not be hired if they are not registered as having been paid members of Key Club International. Please be sure that your clubs, both those below and any in the future, understand that belonging to Key Club requires the payment of dues to the organization and that schools and employers take your membership seriously.  Also, if you are aware that any of the below clubs did not have members at ANY time this year, please let me know. David
