Game NotesSeason Opener: August 30th marks not only the season opener for the Soaring Eagles, but also Elmira’s home opener. Since 2002, Elmira has gone 6-6 in season open-ing games, including a 6-4 mark in home opening contests. Four of EC’s season opening wins have come in the form of a shutout, including last season’s 4-0 rout of Lycoming College.

Returning Firepower: Fourth-year standout Mollie Ham-ilton ’15 returns for her senior campaign. The Victor, NY native was responsible for six of Elmira’s 22 goals scored last season, accounting for over 25 percent of EC’s offense. In last season’s home opener, Hamilton registered seven points as she recorder her first career hat-trick while also assisting on another goal.

EC Against the Liberty League: The Soaring Eagles have had mild success against Liberty League member institutions over the last five years, posting a 2-11-1 record. One of those two victories came against Bard College during the 2009 season.

Looking Ahead: The Soaring Eagles will hit the road for three straight non-conference matchups before returning to Campus Field on Friday, September 12th for a non-con-ference tilt against another Liberty League foe in Clarkson University for a 4:00 p.m. showdown.

Game NotesSeason Opener: Bard has played to nearly a .500 record in season opening games over the last 10 years, posting a 4-6 record since 2004. Four of those 10 contests have been played away from home, where the Raptors have gone 2-2. Their most recent road season opener, which came in 2012, ended in a 3-0 victory over Albertus Magnus College.

Not Since 2009: Saturday’s contest against Bard College marks just the second time the two colleges have ever faced-off against each other. Their other meeting came on October 18, 2009 when EC downed the Raptors, 3-1 on Bard’s home field.

Back in the Fold: Bard lost its leading scorer from a season ago in Maddy Huggins, but the Raptors welcome back a trio of juniors who made a significant impact offensively. Sylvia Kool ’16 ranked second on the team with 10 points, com-ing in the form of four goals and two assists, Gina Lewis ’16 matched Kool’s four goals, and added one assist for nine points, and finally, Abbey Labrecque ’16 returns after chip-ping in two goals and two assists in 2013.

Keeper Options: Bard has four goalies on its 2014 roster, including both of its starting goaltenders from the 2013 sea-son in Kelsey O’Brien ’17 and Lily Harris ’17. O’Brien made a team-high 12 starts, earning a 5-7-1 overall record, while Harris led the Raptors in minutes played (895), saves (44), and goal against average (1.01).
